Surviving Mars

I saw it and grabbed it. No telling when I will see if it's decent or not. My Epic backlog will soon rival my Steam backlog methinks.

I'm a game hoarder it seems. Heavy on the Hoar...... and some der....

Without the Green Planet expansion the end game is kinda... iffy.

It is, however, a game that has been patched significantly since launch and makes WAY more sense now than it did at launch, as well as being a bit less punishing.

Still, if this is just the base game you'll be seeing a lot of red.

The fact that they won't sell the season pass at $12 but will sell you the base game + season pass for $22 is just a poke in the eye to those of us who bought the game on release. If I want the season pass content I have to pay $23 (sales prices the past few months). It was literally $1 cheaper to rebuy the base game during the summer sales.

Eh, I've paid $100 for games+expansions that could be found for a fiver later.
I'l actually got Surviving Mars twice for "free" already between the Humble Monthly and the epic store, considering I also bought the game near launch.

I honestly didn't care for the game at launch. It was super frustrating and non user friendly. But I heard it improved a bunch with updates and Green Planet bought a lot of what I wanted.

That's kinda what I expected, given I've put hundreds of hours into Cities Skylines.

I don't care what games go on sale later and don't consider it a loss. I rarely buy games full price. Sometimes you win some, sometimes you lose.

Othertimes, like Hades, I'm glad that I paid full price early and I will absolutely buy the game a second time, likely full price, on STEAM when it comes out.

I'll try the game again when I can get that season pass for $12 or less. Otherwise, why bother. But hey, at least I have the game on 3 platforms now.

IMO it's not a very good game without the green planet expansion.

With the base game there isn't much point to continue playing the game once you survive the first few days as there is no real challenge/goals at that point.

The green planet update helps give the game some better goals, but I really wish they would have improved the base game more and made some better challenges.

What got me early on was the fact that they had no connecting tunnels/roads between domes and that ultimately in the mid to late game managing your colonists was a pain in the butt, unfun and at times made no sense.

They've fixed those issues, but there still isn't much point to continue playing past that initial 10 day mark. Once you've proven you can sustain colonists.. There's no point. They should have focused the majority of the game around that initial survival instead of just making some huge colony.
