Borderlands 3

We've all heard of God roll weapons. I feel like I keep getting Dog roll weapons. I've encountered 5 gold-colored weapons thus far (I'm at level 26) and 4 of them have been trash.
Is there something I'm missing that makes all gold weapons great or do some of them just kinda suck? Ditto with purple for that matter. I've found some pretty effective blue weapons that seem better than equivalent purple gear.
Is the color based on potential or is it reality and I'm just not understanding it?

the specials are nothing special. it all depends on if they have features that complement your playstyle. if not...

there are people that get the key code emails and then pop them while offline. you can do this repeatedly. they then farm the loot chests for hours. without finding much.

I suspect the problem here will be the same problem as the division. there is just so much randomness in the process, getting anything "better" is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Most weapons in borderlands games are a random combination of parts, the rarer the weapon the more parts/stats, that does not mean you will get the ones you like. As for legendaries I tought they fell outside this, the main difference beeing the lvl you are when they drop. Not sure about borderlands 3 weapons though, but from past games I know some of them have limited useability but it also depends on your playstyle.

Yeah, I haven't touched Borderlands 2 in quite a while. I just find myself using a lot of blue weapons rather than purples and golds. Ditto with shields and occasionally grenades, too. In a lot of other loot-based games it's kinda pointless to even look at something that isn't at least purple. In BL3, they can be pretty good.

If you want to farm legendaries there's this thing called shift/echocast that you can create an account on and link your twitch account to. Basically you can watch streamers on twitch open up the last red chest when you beat the game over and over again, you have a chance to win a choice of whatever appears in the chest. They just duplicate their saved game and farm it over and over.

So without me digging through 21 pages, did anyone figure out a graphics tuning guide? This thing is a pig by default and doesn't get anywhere near 60 fps @ 4k on my r7 2700x and 1080 ti. Just got it yesterday and I settled on 1440p just to get solid 60. Looks good, but I'd like 4k without spending 10 hours dicking with settings.

Try the presets but put fog on the lowest.

This should help: 15:15 has a chart to show their recommendations

Balex is still making me laugh just as hard on my 3rd play through as he did on my first.

I finally reached the first area where I've actually died multiple times. At least not counting jumping deaths when exploring.
"The Anvil" enemies were randomly 2 levels above me and doing heavy damage. That's in spite of me doing every mission/side mission/challenge for everything up until now. I completed it, but the dragon lady and her 4 dragons were pretty rough.

Kill a lot of critters along the way, restart and kill them again. That will get your xp up. Run and gun the bosses, can't stress that enough, I didn't at first, paid a lot of money to respawn. Snipe if you can, get a good sniper rifle, let you avatar (clone/critter/mech) take the punishment. I tried operator at first, but he was seriously nerfed, made it through eventually, but re-did my skills a few times to see what worked (hint, don't bother with the shield skills). Beastmaster is doing pretty good for me so far on my second go-around, went with the ape with gun for a while, but re-skilled to use the scrag with radiation damage skill tree, he gets pretty tough around lvl 25 or so. Depending on your play style, that is.

Edit: and if you get you body count up past 100 (every 100 it seems) you get an email with a leveled gun. So try to get at least 100 kills with a given mfr. I got a sweet sniper from Zero that will do a one-shot-one kill almost every time. But, that was at lvl 35 or so.

I just back peddle jump backwards and shoot find cover. Also using a controller helps with mobility. The thing is I used a flings trainer for gold keys I got one golden key but now I have 9999 keys don't plan to exploit more then that. I find in one playthrough was enough unless the DLC is over the top.

I got a moxie bouncing pair out of the chest which has a dual elemental gernade mod.

So many Easter Eggs...

Found a particular weapon based on one of my favorite shows that looked meh... Until I shot someone with it. Holy shit. That is all.

This game is a blast and my Moze is a beast... Found a thing that heals shields on shock damage... Then a doohikie that throws lightning grenades everywhere... And got a shield from a quest that makes me 100 % immune to shock. Enjoying it until they nerf the hell out of it.

Up until now I was wishing I had rolled the pet dude because the mech sucked. All hail Captain Traunt... He hooked me up and breathed life into my Moze.

Also, Flakker is OP as hell, but you all already knew that.

Finished this today at lvl 44 as maya.

I have to say good game but not nearly as good as any of the others. The wierd silly charm was just missing, the minimal amount of weird side missions wasnt there. It was also super easy on normal. I didnt use my character skill at all. The AI would often get stuck and just let you murder them. Main bosses are easy. The characters werent great, the old favorites didnt have enough in the story.

Was it worth the 60 bucks, yes. It does fix annoyances if previous games but... As i said above the crazy all the time ridiculousness just isnt there in this one. Like they tried to make it more serious. That was a bad move.

I hope the dlc is good. They have a great track record with good dlc.

I agree that the story is 'different' humor-wise, and the much larger pool of weapon variables means that useless weapons are the norm, but it also much improved on subtle levels. Go play 1 or 2 again and try moving around the map- no mantling and very strange jump mechanics. Driving was also odd (but still odd, just better imho). I get that it will not gel with everyone, someone somewhere thinks the pre-sequel was the best Borderlands... (I keed I keed)

Yes the minor tweaks were good, especially yhe fast travel but in the end those werent killer problems in the older games. Tge loot thing felt pretty much the same to me as others.

not killer for sure, but also it seems not noticed my many reviews. The humor has always been different game to game in the series, and this installment isn't as slapstick. But I am not minding that. It's just turned down from 11, which got tedious at times (for me) in the first couple.

I'm enjoying it, but I'd say the humor has definitely been dialed back. It's barely present most of the time, but there are still some clever moments that make me smile. Driving became way better once I changed the controls to entirely work with the arrow keys rather than just the gas. My biggest gripe probably related to the UI controls. There are lots of things hard-coded that can break the game if you try and tinker with them. I wish re-mapping the basic game controls would change the menu controls as well.

You can turn off cloud saves, your default save is in My documents/my games/borderlands 3/saves/(a series of letters and number here). Only make one save for your profile (profile.sav) and each character you make (1.sav for your first one, 2.sav for your second one) use the backup software of your choice to back them up often. Only had the game crash once on me and it didn't save the game, but had a backup.

But, anyway, I've run 2 characters through the main line with all the side-quests (I think, I find the lack of information about what you may or may not have completed annoying). I'll wait for the first dlc to see if I want to start over again. I really want the Torque dlc to be first, not that I know if there will be one, but it would be a waste of good will from the BL2 dlc with him. I missed him this time.

EXPLOSIONS????????

Yes, you can go to the game folder and delete the 3 files listed earlier in this thread (advertisements for amd, etc). They are a pita to have to sit thru.

The problem with killing off the videos is that the game doesn't really load much faster without them. Instead you just see Claptrap dancing. I've never timed it, but it might save me 2-3 seconds. As soon as they roll out an update, they come back too.

If you make zero byte files (renamed .txt fils work) they might not get replaced. I won't know until an update hits, but mine have been there for about 12 days... And I just have a spare set one folder up so if they go away it's just a copy/past away. I get about five seconds faster in my completely non rigorous testing, but more importantly I don't get bursts of annoying sound.

Either way, this is a very fun game, I'm still on the Jacobs storyline but got the energy wing boosters on my car. So fun!

Damn, that seems to take a lot dedication. But, looks like a great reward. Just started on my first TVH mode game, I'm at 100% completion, so I can stick to the main quest line and pick/choose what side quests I do. Been some pretty good drops so far, even with containers.

I finallly got some time to really play last night and so far I'm enjoying it. I think I made a mistake picking Moze though, her mech special ability doesn't last long (at least at lower levels?) and takes forever to recharge. I kinda want to change characters but I don't want to re-do 8 hours of gameplay. And I hope I find a bigger backpack / storage upgrade later on because the inventory fills up really damn quick. I spent a lot of time juggling gun inventory. I did find this one revolver sniper rifle gun and (only lvl 8 so far) it is a headshot masterpiece. I went through most of the COV mission just walking in and headshotting everyone, only had to find cover to reload. LOL

I've noticed a couple things..... I had 1 crash to desktop and submitted a bug dump to gearbox, and one hard lockup/freeze in the game and I had to tab out and kill the task. R7 2700x + 1080ti. Also.... I miss my old 360 controller, the xbox one controller is "ok" but feels bigger and crappier. Also the thing is basically new (got it for xmas and have less than 80 hours on it for sure) and it's drifting left already.

You have to buy backpack upgrade when you get to Sanctuary. Cost money, so start saving.

Well, hell, EGS down, can't play BL3..........................

The fortnite event broke both EGS and Twitch for about an hour earlier today. There were millions of people watching and trying to log in after the event.

I see all these glitches as pointless. what will happen is that they will fix all the glitches. the first dlc will raise the level cap. then every piece of equipment you own will turn into trash.

I'm still not seeing major differences in legendarily vs. any other types of weapons. Pure #'s and weapon manufacturer/types seem to matter way more.

it's mostly the addon stuff.. e.g my current legendary shield gives me a 5s invuln after it depletes plus some other stuff.. other than that the base numbers still matter more. but i'm kinda stuck in chapter 11.. level 19 against level 23 mobs, shits aids trying to kill them.

Even on the lowest gfx settings at 1080p, I see 50-100ms glitches. Do other people experience this?

I don't know the timing but I see hitches when loading into a new area, or when spawning a large group of enemies.

For me it takes a few seconds to load the textures when a new area loads. Things look like a blurry mess for about 2 seconds.
Beyond that, I've definitely had some pauses/hitches when things get too chaotic. The Voracious Canopy area with the massive jabber tribe being a prime example. Performance mostly stays the same, but when things get completely nuts onscreen it'll just straight up pause. It only lasts for maybe 1/2 second, but it has been enough for me to fall to my death before.
