This "loyalty discount" was new to me but apparently has been around for at least a few years as some SD members say they used it to get the X.

It is surprisingly a great deal for current AT&T members if you are already on an Unlimited plan (Unlimited & More or Unlimited & More Premium), NOT a shared plan and plan to stay with AT&T for 2 years.

I used chat yesterday to get a discount of $10/line (access charge). For my 8 line plan that saves me $80/mo. No other changes to my plan.

Today I did a chat again to get a few iPhones for my kids. Which is a $450 discount on the retail price of any phone + tax. For me it was taxed on the discounted price for the 3 phones I bought for my kids. $149.99 for a 64gb XR and $300/ea for 2 iPhone 11 128gb.

You pay for the phones immediately, so my total bill was $794.97 for 2 iPhone 11's and 1 XR. The charge has already hit my Visa and the orders show as processing in my AT&T account.

The $45 activation fee per phone was waived as i have a FAN account. YMMV on this if you don't have a corporate/employer type discount attached to your account. The FAN discount does not really apply anymore to the Unlimited & More or Unlimited & More Premium plans as it goes away but if you ever had it before it should still be there.

She also upgraded me to premium 1-2 day shipping for free.

Again, by buying these phones through the Loyalty discount they are locked to AT&T for 2-years and they will not unlock them for any reason even international travel, until your contract is up.

The thread at SD is 80+ pages so lots of info there and if you are not on the Unlimited & More or Unlimited & More Premium plan already, READ UP and make your own decision as your access fee per line will go up regardless of what the CSR may tell you.

Whether this applies to Android phones as well I don't know as my kids are staying with iPhones so I didn't ask.

Good luck.

These discounts existed since the beginning of time. They used to have a customer net worth score (pardon the name its something to that effect) and based on that they give you a discount. TBH, this is the least ATT can do for having one of the most expensive carriers after Verizon.

Rant: Just bring back the subsidized phone pricing, easy peasy.

My 8 line Unlimited & More Premium plan will now be down to just under $300 with taxes and fees with the additional $10/line discount on top of the $30 multi-line discount and $20 multi-line autopay & paperless billing discount.

The Unlimited & More Premium plan is $100-$50 in discounts or $50 + taxes & fees.

Each phone line has an access charge of $35 which is going down to $25/line.

Works out to around $37/line for Unlimited which is a nice price as far as I can tell when comparing to other plans.

As always, I'll have to wait and see if it all comes true after 1-2 billing cycles when the $10/line is supposed to hit the account.

Jesus H Christ. I'm at 6 lines of unlimited on T-Mobile and I pay $126 after taxes. Fuck that $300 bullshit.

See the problem is you then have T-mobile as your carrier :p. (they have horrendous service here in Austin at least in the area I'm in for whatever reason)

Have you verified that recently? T-Mobile's service has got significantly better just in the last few years. Checking their coverage map, Austin is fully covered with strong signal. I had about 95% of the same coverage with them switching from Verizon in KY a few years ago and by the time I moved overseas this year (so I had to drop them), that bumped up to around 98% coverage and much better indoor coverage as they deployed Band 12 and now band 71.

Would switch to TMobile if it had coverage in my area of Michigan the Upper Peninsula or even Minnesota where most of my relatives live. Not quite smart phone if I don't have service.

TMobile is great in the city but get out to more rural areas and it falls apart at least the areas we end up in.

Its possible they're better now, in the past they showed the same full coverage in austin, but had extremely poor signal quality and speed due to the geography or their tower location in Austin for whatever reason.
From all the folks at work and my best friend that had it, all hated it and switched when their phones were paid off.
My wife (gf at the time) had Verizon and had similar experiences, couldn't get cell signal in our own apartment while I had 4 bars on ATT.

In NJ, AT&T is unusable, and T-Mobile is on par or better than Verizon. Plus, I don't have to live in Texas, so...

That's why it's good to have choices. The AT&T deal is the best price I can get on what I need for 8 phones in my area and the places I travel. For me it's between AT&T & Verizon and AT&T is cheaper for me and my situation.

The TMobile/Sprint merger may change that but have to wait and see how it plays out.
