Battlefield V

Many people regard Bad Company 2 as the most fun Battlefield has ever been. So uh, I think that means its truly Battlefield.

And BC2 is what it is, due to the smaller scale and focus of Rush Mode. So, these frequent asides about 64 players, don't matter. Even further, I am of the opinion that BC2 played best with 24 players (see: the max players on console versions), rather than the 32 possible on PC. Which most PC servers ran with. It turns out that large player counts aren't the only markers for a good game.
I agree with player count not being that important. but bc2 didn't even have jets. and a bf game without dog fights is not a true battlefield experience. bf1942, bf2, bf3, bf4, bf1, bfv had it all.

YES. Unfortunately I got into jets way too late in BF3's cycle. But I jumped in earlier in BF4. Being good in a jet is godmode. The speed lets you be everywhere.

Played the Mercury map in TDM it's ok but still would rather have a Modern Battlefield game with sharp angled buildings and stuff that doesn't blend altogether. The search for servers kinda sucks I liked the oldstyle better too many menus to go though before you do the advance search.

I'm not wild about mercury. feels like too many players for the map size. that could be said for almost every map. once private servers come out with the enable squad leader spawn only option it will change the game for the better imo. this is when hardcore mode comes to the game as well. the ability to turn health regen off, disable compass and mini map, and increase bullet damage are options as well.

One of the reasons it was so great. You didn't have to worry about losing team members going off to loiter around the airfield all day long waiting for a jet to fend off the other team's jets.

Every time I try and get back into this game some weird shit just pisses me off. I just had a round where I used a T48 to attack a panzer, my first round hit and the next 5 all went wide and missed even though I aimed at the exact same spot on the tank....

the update that came out a week ago that included the new map that we can't play lol, is trash. theres a ads bug I get and the game micro stutters. I refuse to play panzerstorm. once they updated the map to make it more infantry friendly about the same time they made alot of changes to tanks and now tank combat is a mess. one tank takes 15 shots to kill some times and other tanks take 4.

I feel like this could be such a good game. Why don’t they keep at-least one bombastic fantastic of tank battle server running? I feel like there is good content but it gets buried. And I just flat out refuse to participate in the challenges.

I do like the squad leader abilities and the planes are good, but too nerfed.

I would have rather paid for a season pass and got a few well planned expansions than this modular mess of a game.

Also, my MG42 needs a damage boost.

I love spawning a sturmtiger on devastation, still lost the round but watching people bitch because they weren't expecting to get blown to hell is really fun.

This is a problem that plagues most online shooters these days. They used to give you some game modes and maps, and let servers run combinations and you could choose what you wanted to play. Now they force you into playing dumb stuff you don't want to do. Loading up a modern MP game is such a chore with dozens of tasks and events thrown in your face telling you to do something you have no interest in. The relative grind in this game isn't nice either.

I like the game more than BF1, but I'd only put around 31 hours into it so far. Every time I load it up and play to play a class or map, it feels like the game forces you to do other crap. When you have an hour that just isn't fun. I just play BF4 instead. :p

I really hope whatever comes next is styled like BF4. Lots of up front content, proper server browser, easier unlocks, and the ability to just play what you want without being bombarded with crap upon loading the main menu. BF1 and BFV feel like half the content is missing. Still no Soviet weapons? Still haven't even filled in the American weapons yet? Game has been out for almost a year and there is no M1 Garand. And to smooth the process, on the next game, find whoever fixed BF4 at DICE LA to finish the game because DICE Sweden is incompetent when it comes to delivering a polished experience from top to bottom.

If EA/DICE put as much effort into improving the game as they have been with trying to milk players with micro transactions, the game would be about 10x better. That and getting rid of cheaters, being headshot through smoke repeatedly by a medic at long range is really starting to piss me off.

al sundan conquest finally made it into the game and operation underground map comes out tomorrow

Haven't played the game in months. The stupid unlock system is far, far too grindy. Map looks interesting so maybe I'll try it for an hour or so.

Anyone ever have
havn't played underground yet but from what I hear fps is down 40-60.

It doesn't play as well - it's too "big" from point to point. And there are stupid things like attackers getting stationary weapons just sitting there waiting to be used lol.

Playing Metro on BF4... attacking team / losing Conquest team could be bottlenecked right from the beginning, and then it's just a death-fest if the other team is of similar skill. Very difficult to turn around.

Nice to see that DICE is trying a different balance method.

kinda liking the new map. just enough alternative routes. my fps isn't bad either. getting my usual avg of 90 on med settings, 1440p. maybe they had a hotfix recently? tonight is the first time I played. still running nvidia 436.30 driver. I use gysnc but I keep vsync on in nvidia settings/off ingame. cause sometimes theres tearing with games on the top and bottom of the screen. but I noticed tonight I had a little imput lag. turned the vsync off and it went away. I guess I wont be using that again. I dont know why I noticed it all of a sudden.

lol that's what i keep saying then i play it for 30 minutes, close the game and go yeah maybe in 3-4 months it'll get better.. rinse and repeat 3 months later.. :p the weapon grind is mind numbing..

I'll try this map this week for sure hope it has echos with muffled gun shots like Metro did.

That is how it has been for me. Overall it is better than BF1 but still feels too similar, and I am putting less hours into it compared to BF1. I think I have 77 for BF1 and 37 for BF5.

I still haven't tried the new map or loaded up the game yet either.

I'd recommend it. Unlike much of the most recent iterations, this more or less feels like Battlefield.

As for the weapon grind -- I could give a rats. The default weapons are plenty effective if your tactics don't suck.

The Map is called Underground right? I think I tired it on a German server but nothing about it was underground. Unless it was the wrong map in the rotation....

Like the latest iterations of Metro (last for BF4), it has above and below ground segments that may be present in different game modes. I haven't wrapped my mind around it all yet as I haven't really played BF:V multiplayer otherwise, but there are definitely sections that are underground.

I like some of the new maps.

That being said, most of the balance issues that initially drove me away from the game are still here. Ground AA is still way to weak. No plane should be able to head straight at a flak-panzer and be able to survive. It's defies all logic, and it renders ground AA worthless for it's primary function.

In Metro there were three sections. The first was the outdoor park. The 2nd was the actual metro. Finally there was the outside on the other end of the station, which had two buildings you could fight in and a road littered with damaged cars. I think the first section was only available in Rush. Rush was the best mode to play the game in by far. Domination is okay. TDM takes place mainly in the final section and is pretty terrible, you spawn into grenade launchers or snipers. I'm not sure how it was in Conquest? Did it have the whole map?

Conquest in this underground map seems to be a full map. Both sides have their own objective that are in buildings both with open spaces, and than you have the fuck fest objective underground in the center.

I'm so ready for another modern military Battlefield. Just haven't been able to get into BF1, BF5 or either Battlefront - they're decent games, but...

After back-to-back-to-back modern Battlefields BFBC2 -> BF3 -> BF4 came out, a lot of people were understandably complaining "too much modern warfare, do something else" but the WWI and WWII shit just isn't the same. A CQ48 or CQ64 sandbox in BF3 or BF4, full of jets, tanks, jeeps, heli's, I could live in for entire weekends with buddies on Teamspeak and never get bored.

Credit to EA/DICE for listening to what a lot of people wanted - A break from modern - but it's enough now, they're wasting time and player counts will never improve in BF5 at this point.

Dare I say I'm ready for modern Battlefield as a service, with Seasons and where they just keep adding more stuff over years rather than shipping the game and calling it done, with a B-Team handling DLC duties.

I love the WW2 setting.

The issue is that BF5 is missing the elements that made BF so amazing.

It was the vehicular based combat that made BF a great game, and in particular I played hundreds of hours on Coral Sea along with Wake.

I loved how there were subs, cruisers, aircraft carriers, etc.

I loved how you could spot for the naval guns w/ the scout class.

There were so many ground breaking things that BF did, that every game moving forward lost.

The issue with BF5 is that they focused too much on the infantry aspect, and basically have tried to make a CoD like experience - Which is not what us true BF fans wanted. I will say that BF5 was at least a little bit in the right direction

And unfortunately every BF since BF3 has generally moved in the wrong direction. BF hasn't been BF since BF3 was released IMO.

All i've been wanting since the original Battlefield was released was for a game that expanded the scope and player counts, but with the ease of access of Battlefield. Think WWII Online scale, but not a chore to play like WWII online. Probably Planetside came close, but unfortunately that's gone now and PS2 sucks. No game out there has yet to move the bar forward. We just keep getting more CoD-clones with marginally bigger maps and a couple of available vehicles thrown in the mix.

Battlefield VI, you have to get 24 punch kills to unlock the knife. Seriously, the unlock system is fucking stupid now.

IMO the BF2 unlocks were all the game ever needed. Just enough to make you invest in a class for a period of time, and the few unlocks weren't OP but were solid choices.

The unlocks now are a joke. In vehicles in particular if you don't have full unlocks you are way underpowered. Infantry isn't as bad, but it's still BS. The unlocks should be visual items ONLY.

agreed on all parts. after playing BF2, BC2, BF3, and BF4 i was ready to go back in time. Now having played BF1 and BFV the last few years....i was wrong. a Battlefield without helicopters just isn't the same for me. i hope they go back to modern day or Vietnam. I've been clamoring for a new 2142 the last few years but that might just be rose-tinted glasses, can't tell.

No thanks. I'm tired of the games with little content and sprinkling it over time. Curb the unlocking but release with the content BF3 or 4 had at least. Maps I understand, those are one thing that keeps things fresh and allows some time for player input into what works/doesn't work. Release with a strong set up maps and then some map packs periodically. You can add in some extra weapons as well, but at launch we should have dozens upon dozens of them fully fleshed out. And I don't want to spend time unlocking every scope for every gun. Just give me dozens of options and accessories and let me figure out what works.

BF3/4 vehicle unlocks were not too time consuming, but again kind of pointless. Just give us the options that BF4 had, maybe skew some towards realism, and let us configure how we want them. BFV's unlock system is confusing, you need experience plus random tokens, and need to exit to the main menu to check. Just make it like BF4 if you require vehicle progression.

modern is likely coming with bad company 3 next year

on another note. there only one conquest server up for underground, and its west coast. the rest are rush.
