Apex Legends launching monday(titanfall BR)

:( Haven't played since a mid September patch just completely killed my framerate. Playing at 1080p@240hz, it's now in the 45fps level in some areas! Running it in a crappy window actually makes it run faster, so something is seriously fucked.

Seems some other folk are affected, but most people either aren't getting it or haven't noticed.

Hoping the new season will bring a fix, else that's me out for good.

I know it is frustrating when you can't figure out what is wrong with something on a computer. If you are up for some trouble shooting though you could drop this high fps autoexec in and see if it fixes the problem.

Thanks, tried it, but it made no difference, the problem is most likely either;

Windows 7.
HPET enabled in bios and OS (2nd step is important, check here. If it ain't saying ~14.3, then it's not enabled).

make sure you have the latest version of icue from corsair installed if you use that, supposedly causes some fps issues for some people according to Steve GN.

I don't use that, thanks, although you've just made me suspect the Logitech shitware I need to run for my custom keys, will try disabling that....

...and it's fixed all of a sudden!

Just like the other reports, I didn't do anything and now it's running at full speed again!

Funnily enough I had tried it right after the Season 3 update patch and it was still broken. I did do a repair though, but I think that's a red herring since I'd previously done a complete uninstall and re-download/install before and it fixed nothing.

But I just fired it up last night in an effort to have another go at diagnosing it, and duh magically, suddenly all good! 240fps+ as previously.

So things it definitely wasn't:
  • Windows 7
  • HPET enabled in bios and OS
  • 3rd party software interference

Very weird. Hope it doesn't come back and others have noted...:cautious:

The new energy gun is so broken. I'm sure they will either nerf it or make it a limited drop gun like the L-Star because it's WAY too easy to kill people with this and get killed by it. Case in point:

1. Me killing guys w/a stock energy gun and no sight from at least 200m out: https://gyazo.com/f65ecab94439ac38830f29c2f8afa70e
2. Using it casually in a 3:1 fight and winning and then getting wiped hard by it as I respawn my teammates:

Respawn proves once again that they have no idea what they're doing with game balance. The peacekeeper was already overpowered after they buffed it at the start of season 3 but then they went and did it again by making the pellet width bigger. To make things worse, they nerfed the wingman yet again for no good reason (other than they are probably shit with it) and yet again buffed sniper weapons.

I bet my friends we would destroy everyone if we made a peacekeeper squad because of how stupidly OP the gun is now and well here are the results:

Isn't the point of the peacekeeper that it's only really good in very close quarters? (better with the choke but fairly difficult to use that way) If you break all the weapons in the game down by how effective they are at close/medium/long range then the peacekeeper should be the strongest close range weapon.

As for the charge rifle, I'm leaning towards agreeing that it is OP. However in the clip you posted from last month, the R99 was what really bagged you those kills, the charge rifle just added some damage to the mix. It's pretty hard to use up close. No easier really than the tripletake or longbow. I played a few rounds this week where I was using the charge rifle in close or medium range and my target was able to time jumps to my shots to literally jump over the final blast every time, lol.

And of course you're a sitting duck while respawning someone, for any sniper weapon, not just the charge rifle. Just playing devil's advocate ;)

Peacekeeper with a choke can snipe 100 dmg over 70m out easily. In addition with the pellet width increase it's super easy to use and nail people. The charge rifle was nerfed twice since I posted that other video so it's a bit better now though still OP.

Meh, you can actually fight people with the tripletake vs charge rifle now, whereas before the charge was just god status and there was no point trying to outsnipe the charge with a tripletake.

Ah OK, I hadn't followed Apex much until recently so I wasn't aware they nerfed the charge rifle. It must have been frickin' insane before.

Well the main takeaway point of my original video was I got sniped by the charge rifle without ever seeing the shooter or even getting time to get to cover. It was extremely broken on release and still is overpowered even after two mini nerfs though more tolerable. The TT just needed faster reload time rather than increased damage and the G7 with the double shot hop up was already powerful enough. The shotguns didn't need a buff and nobody ever asked for it either.

Agree with everyone, the Charge was silly OP at start of season 3.. if you found one you had to use it because it was so good. I still use it sometimes but the TT and Longbow are more viable options now. I don't think peacekeeper is OP... it feels like comparable DPS in close range to the EVA8 with double tap, to me anyway. Yes, if you land your shots at very close range it's devastating as it should be.

The charge rifle is still in the same place and always was, the nerfs have done nothing to it. The problem is most people not knowing the map early on didnt know how and where to get cover so the charge rifle seemed way worse than it was. But at the end of the day apex is still a game where you need to push and usually get close to players to do that so close range weapons that hit fast on people peaking or allow you to push hard have an advantage at high level play. Now people know better where to go and how to take cover as they have learned the map so extreme long range sniping is still annoying and still gets people but its not as often. Peace keeper is silly OP now you are basically going to lose any fair fight if you dont have one. It has negated almost every weapon in medium to short range.

Sad they removed duos, had so much fun with my main gaming buddy playing it. We don't have a solid 3rd so we end up with a random which is really annoying, both in ranked and unranked (he's Platinum-IV I am Gold-I).

Same :/

Yup.. here we go! I took about a three week break from Apex at the beginning of the year but last week got back into it and have played most nights... I found a couple of pretty solid squad mates who all meet up every night.. I still find the game very entertaining with the right squad and good coms.. it can also be frustrating as fuck when you land and get wiped in like 30 seconds many times in a row... that's when I hang it up and take a break.. that aside I've had some great games in the last week.. solid wins and loads of LOL moments. That's the best.

I had some fun with the different game modes that lasted 2 days each, the one with the continues moving wall was a blast as was the auto respawn one.

Oh and.. revenant is the character I’ve been waiting to play for a long time.. lmao.

I figured I would try this game since I am bored and itching for a FPS. This just about explains my 5 or so games I played before uninstalling.

First match team drops together they empty all the crates before I have a weapon and get killed within 60 seconds of landing. They then leave me.
Second match team drops and one separates. I stick with jump master who loots but keeps looking for loot while circle is closing so I book it to inside the circle. I down one player only to get jumped by two more and die. Both teammates quit so no rez.
Third match team drops and everything goes fine except we never see anyone until the very end where we kill one guy and we win.
Fourth match killed again within 30 seconds while trying to get away from enemies and find a gun.
Fifth match pass jump master on since no clue what I am doing and the jump master never jumps so I finally bail at the last second only to get killed as soon as I land.

With the wait to join matches, this just isn't my idea of fun. The wait isn't that long, but sometimes 2-3 minutes sitting there waiting to play only to die immediately gets old.

I can understand the frustration from a bad team, there seem to be a lot of players that care more for kill count then to actually win the game, other then to play with friends not much you can do about that, I just try to ignore the crappy teams, usually get a couple decent ones each evening.

As for the wait times that's weird, usually I'm in the queue for less then 30 seconds b4 beeing paired up.

Never played a BR game before? Your complaints are not with the game specifically but with the BR genre as a whole. Any BR game you play will have those inconsistencies, as it's a genre where RNG (randomness) plays a small factor at certain times during the game and especially at the beginning of matches.

What you can do is play another BR game with a solo mode available, which will eliminate those 'bad team' issues. Most BR games are not like CoD where you can just jump in and frag off the bat, in each BR game it will take awhile to get acclimated with the map, loot pool, combat, rotations, drop spots and general overall strategies to outplay your opponents. With experience you will be able to minimize the effect of the RNG inherent in this genre.

I would have to assume he's talking about the gaps between action. Match connect, character choose, squad summary, jump to finally opening the first chest.

I have all the same complaints with Apex. I wish I had a group that was consistent so I could enjoy it more. Everytime someone quits because they died immediately I just wish they would uninstall. Thankfully BL3 has kept me occupied for a while.

jump on the apex discord and recruit a team ... I’ve had a ton of luck getting good teammates on the apex discord ... a good team with good coms makes all the difference.

Maybe it was just bad luck with the queues since the event was going on. If I queued for the event I never seemed to match, and if I queued for regular mode it would say 20 or so people in queue. It would then take a couple of minutes to find a match with a couple of matches waiting at 55/60 and slowly counting up to 60.

No I haven't really played BR games. I skipped PUBG since I don't buy early access games. I tried Fortnite, but didn't care about building. I tired Ring of Elysium, but it was more of the same. I ran around for 5 minutes before I ever saw someone. Oh and RNG hates me and always has.

I thought about it more last night and I think my other issue is I like weapon progression and don't care about cosmetics. I also never play TDM and stick to objective based modes in FPS games. Combine TDM and cosmetics and a little ARPG, and it seems this is BR. I don't know how you really address either in BR.

I guess I will just wait and hope another FPS comes out in the future I want to play. Because at this point I haven't played anything for more than a few hours since BF4, and my computer which I built for BF4 is long overdue for a reason to upgrade.

I pretty much only play Apex Legends since it came out. I played Modern Warfare for a month on release and enjoyed it but the spawn, kill, die, spawn play just felt pointless - and while you can "team" with people, the pointlessness of death in MW and those kinds of shooters means there is no reason not to play in a suicidal, overly risky way (which can be fun).

My only exposure to BR games before Apex was a couple rounds of BLOPS4 and Fortnite - and I do mean a couple.

The thing that kept me playing Apex is the learning curve and the teamwork you get from being part of a small community. When you play with the same mature players and you all play at the same pace, with close, constant communication and deliberate strategy, it's incredibly powerful and satisfying. There are nights when we will win 3-5 out of 10 games and come in 2nd or 3rd when we don't

When we do end up winning, we often made it through several near wipes or disasters through careful teamwork and cooperation and not giving up - that feeling of pulling off a win against difficult odds is the best feeling you can get playing a video game.

Early on, I joined a small discord server and we've just continually tried to add cool players so there is usually someone available to team with. That said, of the 15-20 people I play with regularly, there are about 6 or so that when I play with them, I know we're going to win, a lot.

Once in a while, I'll get teamed with some good random players and we'll end up winning, but in general, the random que is horrible and despite the skill based match making, I regularly get paired with level 10-30 noobs that have no clue.

My tips for Apex:

1. Pick 1-2 Legends and master them. I pretty much only play Pathfinder (Robot with grapple) or, if I have to, Lifeline (Healer with the care package drop)
2. Learn to use all the weapons so you can use anything on drop, then learn what is most effective and learn what kind of behavior to expect from people with specific weapons. Meta is basically people shredding your shields with an SMG, then one-shotting you with a shotgun. If you know that, you can counter-play and see it coming more.
3. Use the practice range - a lot. Like really really a lot. The best guns (Wingman) take a ton of practice but that practice is rewarded
4. Play with your team - if you want to play aggro, play with an aggro team - that cosplay video is how 90% of public games go. My best team mates all play slow and deliberately. We watch the ring, see where it's going, try to avoid getting pushed into chokes, play the edge, we live by "do we need to take this fight?", etc.
5. There are 3 phases - drop, mid game and end game - if you're not talking about these and working together, and changing your mindset through the game, you're not going to do well.

In my opinion, this is a very deep, strategic, cooperative shooter where good aiming will take you pretty far, but a good team will make all the difference.

PM me if you want to join our discord.

Looking toward to trying out season 4 tonight.

Been stuck on MW and PUBG.

cannot wait for MW BR mode though! Another month or so for that.

Just watched some season 4 stream... Noahj456... He played a lot of revenant and he looks like a great addition. The new sniper looks cool too.. a few map changes... Looking forward to playing tonight.

This pretty much sums it up for me too... I only play apex and been playing since the end of last march. I have so much fun playing with a good squad with good coms, good strategy, good attitude, and good sense of humor... Don't take the losses too hard.. just rack-up and do it again!

Enjoying Season 4 so far. Like others above, BR/Apex is such a fun game mode when you play with quality people and have actual comms. Random play is really hit or miss. Still maining Caustic as my bros are Path and Lifeline or Wraith. The only other MP game I play is Battlefield V (still fun despite the dumb TTK).

I like S4 so far except the R99 nerf, the 12% reduction in ammo count w/the purple mag is definitely felt in high tier games. The prowler buff is nice but still needs a bit faster firing rate to be on par w/the r99 and the hemlock still needs to go back to the way it was pre-nerf in S1/S2. I feel like the PK is in a good place now, the sentinel isn't too OP either which is good. The only thing I dislike is all the vertical spaces since they did that to emphasize Revenant's climbing ability at the expense of other legends (except pathfinder).

Yeah the R99 nerf does hurt.. does 27 less on a full unload with purp. I like the new hemlock single fire mode... I am sad the devo is only a crate item now but I get it... it was op.. Probably will play a lot this weekend. I'll ping you on discord maybe (crumple_z0ne). :)
