Ok so first is first..
I am a non storage guy at all...
at work, we are going to use a netapp with say 100tb of space. The storage team told me that we can only have 16tb shares. I googled it and I see that netapp has this limitation.
so from my Hardforum Peeps!!!!!
I do not want the overhead of 8 shares... so how can I do this?
my use case is simple...
using Veritas System Recovery Solution (within Symantec Management Platform - aka Altiris) to backup computers.
You create a backup policy per storage location... so...
8 shares = 8 backup policies
trying to manage that kind of backup space to balance and fill evenly
but next month, the machines may either have next to no space, or be super full and totally fill the share before all computers backup!!!!!!!!
we support laboratory computers and will be utilizing AWS for sites with fast internet access; however, utilizing local storage (netapp) for the sites with slow links...
I just don't know where to go with this as this is not a solution. This is a management nightmare, and I would rather find another solution vs netapp then.
thx and appreciate all thoughts on this...
