Is it easy to shuck this WD external drive?

Depends on each batch, in the past you usually got a WD Red, lately they have been change to the white label drives.

Is it easy.... i would say its very easy but i have shuck more than 20 drives, my first ones were not hard but out of not knowing i struggle and broke a lot of the tabs.

Shucking Opening 8TB WD Elements External Hard Drive HDD White Label Red

Same Red Drives!? Shucking WD 10TB Elements USB Drives

All my latest shuck drives had an issue intenteded by WD, and its the 3.3v reset, the drives wont work on most sata power connectos due to this issue, for me required to use molex to sata power to make them work my server so just be warned if you dont see the drive being recognized test this before.

How to Fix the 3.3V Pin Issue in White Label Disks Shucked from Western Digital 8TB Easystore Drives

the one he linked is a 6tb essentials not a my book or easy store
it has either a green or blue label tucked in there and no if you dont care about the case a small flat head screwdriver pry up on each side if you care about the case use a guitar pick to push in it is held by 4 clips with a bit of careful persuasion you can do no damage or a little bit of damage to the outer case.

The 8tb easystore has a white label in it unless it was made prior to aug 2017
if it was made before then it would have a red label and which red label can be told by country of origin on it you want the efax drives with 256mb cache or a white label that the only issue is the 3.3v pin feature...
if you get a red label with 128mb cache made in i think china those have high failure rates.

I shucked a 6TB My Book recently and it's a 5700rpm Blue label.

8 and 10TB have been Red label reds in the past, at least the 8TB was, and now both are white label reds, no matter if they are Easystore, Essentials, or My Books.
The smaller ones, 6TB and lower most likely be just Blues as Green is gone.

they now have 8 and 12TB WD_Black externals and I am wondering what drives are in them as they are 7200rpm. They currently don't sell Blacks larger than 6TB right now.
