I always get confused because some people say some cannot be used outside the enclosure or maybe is some specific modelsJust buy the 8TB WD externals when they are on sale for $120-130 and shuck them.
Sorry I edited the post to show only 8TB since I already got two and want to raid them.I have two new Deskstar Nas 6tb drives for sale here
I could also have two more used ones in the near future if necessary.

Sweet. So even this one should work:That's incorrect information. They are standard internal drives. Just format and enjoy.

Going to start looking for similar options then.
I read about some with whitelabels needing a 3.3v pin mod so I think I am good now to go.Yes, that should work. Not all internal drives are the same, however. I'm sure a bit of googling will give you answers about which drive is in each enclosure. Some are 5400 and others 7200. Some are higher grades etc.

I've never pulled a white label from an external enclosure. Good luck!
They are all white label (reds 5400rpm) now unless you find old stock somewhere.
last 3 I've pulled out recently were white labels, two 8's and a 10. my 8TB from 2+ years ago was a red label.I've never pulled a white label from an external enclosure. Good luck!
If one really needed to go to 12TB, I would just get 14TB open box enterprise drives in the CDW Outlet like I did recently for just a hair more at $300. Plus these have a solid 5yr warranty and mtbf.last 3 I've pulled out recently were white labels, two 8's and a 10. my 8TB from 2+ years ago was a red label.
If you want a 7200rpm drive, you could get these and shuck them,

use the code in the image and it takes $40 off the price.

They also have a 12TB one and that is $239 with the code.
