"Ultimately, this is a really good thing for prolonged squeezing of the whales and blind fanboys to fund our coke needs Squadron 42 PS skills improvement development as well.

I don't know why you willingly read through threads about games you have no intention or business purchasing.

Primarily because it's entertaining. Also to remind myself of own stupidity of spending close to $500 on a known failure of a game producer, and on a game in general. And to study the depths of human delusion, sunken cost fallacy and to laugh at those affected.

Actually I imagine that many of the game's detractors would purchase the game if it was ever actually released with anywhere near the quality and content promised. Chris Robert's company would have my money in a heartbeat if they actually had something worth buying. It wouldn't make any of the criticism he is currently getting invalid.

In addition to that, even if the detractors had already made a decision not to buy that doesn't mean there isn't a reason to talk about the game and laugh at those who think the situation is OK. Whether it's purely for entertainment purposes or they hope that some people might be persuaded to stop enabling Robert's actions, however slim that hope might be. I also still read articles about hardware that's out of my budget or tech that is still years away from being on the market. I read about what happens in other places even though I might have no influence over it and it doesn't affect me anyway.

This...if this game came out tomorrow fhinshed and they never made it so pay to win with all the ships I would buy it in a heartbeat....but now with how many 100s of millions in ships flaying around on day one not a chance in hell. Hell if they had a server with no real money ships in it I would probably still buy it.

If they released a better looking, more in depth no mans sky, I would pay $100 for it tomorrow.

But that's the problem: they could release an entire game, and get $100 from a few players in a crowded market,

Or they can release a new best-evar spaceship JPG, and get just as many buyers to pony up $900!

It's pretty clear to me that they will never release SQ42, not until that unlimited funding dries up.

It's entirely their fault for hyping up a dead game genre, and then leaving it to everyone else to finish the job FOR SEVEN YEARS

That's great, I was nicely telling you to leave the thread if you are part of the gigantic circle jerk of "hurrr durr game is nevar gunna be released guyz!!! derp derp".

Since a lot of you continue to post here and ruin this thread, I'll take initiative and create a circle jerk thread for all of you.

It's not our fault the only thing this game provides in abundance are delays and various other development failures, thus making it the focal point in its thread discussion.

To be fair there is plenty of regular news associated with this game and the development, should you choose to read it. Folks can also post screenshots, etc.

I have to agree with st4rk to some extent, the thread has been mostly highjacked by trolling at this point.

Lets be honest this is a more troll worthy trainwreck than Anthem ever was.

I barely check this thread anymore, but I just googled "Legatus pack" after reading GoldenTiger's post above and someone at CiG had the audacity to type "$27,000 USD" onto one of their digital purchase packs, so the trolling is hardly limited to the people in this thread.

Maybe we'll get SQ42 some day and it'll be the best space sim ever, but I'm struggling to understand how they're planning to make the multiplayer aspect into an actual game now that they've already sold all the in-game stuff for real money. If the game is P2W before it's even launched then it's already a joke no matter the technical strides they make, and it's pretty unlikely that they'll turn off that tap post-launch when the game was literally built with P2W money.

It may be, but this thread isn't really the place for it.
Yes, it is the place. This game's development, funding, fanbase, and everything else around it merit regular and often pointing out as the worst example possible. It is to be ridiculed and criticized so that we never get a repeat of such abomination and that it doesn't kill the crowdfunding idea and prospects for future game projects from honest developers. This game and CIG are cancer.

Were this a game, but a scam factory, I would've possibly agreed with you.

"I wasted $500 on this game, so I'm going to bash it non-stop for the rest of enternity!" Got it, thanks. I'm not even saying you aren't making good points, but damn. Give it a rest already.

That is unfortunately how it is looking.

3.6.2 was released to the live servers bringing the 890Jump

Loaded up an 890Jump with some ships (2 Arrows + 85X).
One cool thing is that you can still land more ships on the deck after the main hangar platform is lowered and they'll remain on that physics grid even through quantum travel. You can also have people walking on the pad while quantum traveling.

Then headed to a land vehicle spawn outpost on Daymar. I was on the front manned turret.

Then loaded it with 3 Cyclones and Ursa and a Ballista.

I had to leave our group 'cause I got called in to work :(

The plan was to head to Aberdeen a Hurston moon to do some exploring of some rock formations on the Poles of the moon.

Played for the first time in a while yesterday, it's really getting more interesting and the GameGlass app is also pretty cool.

Fully crewed Hammerhead attacks a streamer during a live broadcast.

It's got a bit of everything. Ballista ground combat along with a host of ships against it like Bombers/Heavy fighters/EMP, etc.

The turret POV is mainly from the bottom rear turret of the Hammerhead which puts the gunner upside down.

Looks great with all that firepower going out lol. I need more friends who play. I'll probably jump in again with caves or the Carrack... been waiting for my big ship for a long time :)

3.7 PTU open to all backers.

Highlights are the addition of planetary cave systems, which is tied to first person mining as well as the harvestables personal inventory system

The Banu Defender

- Mission sharing

- Ship rentals

- Improved planetary/lighting shaders

- Lots of quality of life UI improvements

- The final 2 variants of the Vanguard as well

And since this is out in the public PTU now, here is the RSI Mantis which introduces player initiated quantum interdiction gameplay.

The ship can pull anyone traveling within 20Km out of quantum travel once its Quantum snare is activated/fully charged plus it will create a quantum dampening zone in a 2Km radius around the ship preventing anyone (including itself) from using their quantum drives.

Here's a quick look of me messing around with it.

The last wave of pirate swarm is pretty crazy now. A whole bunch of P52s spawn, like a lot. At least a half-dozen of them are friendly, it was hard to count in all the chaos.

Once you wipe out the enemy P52s, a goddamn Hammerhead spawns as the final boss. The allied P52s help fight it. I was able to take it out with the free Harbinger on the PTU.

Cool so if it ever comes out it will be more of a gank fest now

Not sure I would have put this in at this point with the incomplete mechanics making for more trolling till punishment comes in but even then with Alpha lots of burner accounts and such hah.
Any who I like the idea of it overall. Though I would hope that field puts out an energy signature we can scan for and do something about as a counter when within a certain range / travel time. 5 to 8 seconds allowing you to drop out or key in a redirect around it. Also give more people a job in multi crew play.

I don't think you really need to worry about burner accounts, but I also agree that having the ability to scan for disruption would be cool. Maybe limited to ships with larger sensor suites (science / recon).

I'm almost an original backer, back to the LTI ship days. I'm a big sci-fi space fan. I've put in thousands of hours into the X series games. My favorite space game of all time is FreeSpace 2 back from 1999.

My only concern is this entire games foundation, down to its DNA, is now a pay-to-win model. It always has been and always will be.

I don't think I can enjoy playing a video game (at all) when I know that every single second I spend flying somewhere, or mining something, or progressing some type of skill or level can be bypassed with real life money.

I can't get any enjoyment or sense of accomplishment knowing that I just spent X hours doing something when I could have just spent real life money instead. In a single player game, it wouldn't bother me as much, but now this is gaming is practically an MMO at this point. Aka, it's going to be chocked full of mundane tasks you'd expect in any MMO or "live service" game.

Time is money. If I get paid $40/hour at my real life job, am I really going to spend 2 hours mining ore from an asteroid on a Saturday evening or will I just spend a few dollars to buy the raw resources and/or credits I would normally get in that 2 hours? (then do something more fun, like missions...or play another video game entirely with a more enticing single player storyline).

I’m not an instant gratification type of person, which is why I’ve boycotted buying any type of “live service game” (I pretty much buy nothing from EA, Ubisoft, or Activation these days). But I refuse to spend hours of my life grinding for ore on an Asteroid when some kid with a few dollars can bypass all the work and accomplishment I made on that weekend.

Aka, I don't plan on playing this game whatsoever. It's going to be the same feeling as trying to get into Eve Online for the first time in 2019. The entire world and its economy is always going to be skewed on day one for whoever has the most money and you'll already be several years behind unless you threw thousands of dollars at the game already.
