Anyone know the type of IC used or tried these with an updated x470 platform?

I want to move to 32GB and doing it via 4 dimms isn't a good idea from what I have read.
 
Ugh they are of course an ugly red heat spreader. No grey or black option from what I can find. Top NE review claims 3466c16 stable on a 2700x.
 
i've noticed that with the heat spreaders its always some aggressive alien looking type shit, like we're all children and cant have anything looking toned down, or minimalist lol.
 
Duh, because red makes it faster. If it only had flames or racing strips down the spreaders. Only then is it fast enough.
 
I was expecting some sort of crazy heatspreader design from the comments, but it's a pretty mild design to me. (y)

That is a seriously good price. But Gskill.. I don't know about them.. I generally stick with Corsair ram.
 
I've used Ripjaws V 3200 on the 1950x. Does not hit 3200. Then again, never had any fail on me and I ran a ton of it at rated speed in DDR3 days. RipJaws X or whatever.
 
Nothing wrong with G.Skill at all. They're a solid brand. :)
They are a solid vbrand, have used 25 different ddr3/4 Kits in gmsing builds since they are cheaper and have a lifetime warranty.

Fun fact, in my lifetime of custom system building (started in '96) I have purchased at LEAST 300-400 sticks of ram ranging from EDO to everything that was cutting edge at the time and the only time I've ever had a failed stick was with the infamous Crucial DDR stuff (yellow heatspreaders) that was all the rage with everyone running highly OC'd A64s and Optys. They came in 1 and 2 GB dual channel kits and Crucial had an insane failure rate and recalled them unless you wanted to keep them.

They were the fastest stuff out at the time but like the Micron GDDR6 /Turing issue, had teething issues.

My suggestion to anyone who doesn't like the color is to get some quality spray paint and change the color to whatever they want that way. I've recycled aluminium off memory and it does not come off easily. Odds are high that trying to peel the stock heat spreaders off will damage the ram.

The RAM brands that you buy (Corsair, G.Skill, etc...) don't actually manufacture RAM. They purchase chips from manufacturers such as Samsung, Hynix, and Micron then add their branding to it in the form of heat spreaders, colored PCBs, etc... High end G.Skill uses Samsung B-die which is widely considered the holy grail of RAM chips.
 
will this work with 570/Ryzen 3000?
If the x570 chipset mainboards support DDR4 these should work. Go to the mainboard companies website, search for their supported memory page and then look for the sku of the ram sticks -- e.g. "F4-3600C19D."
 
I picked up Corsair RGB Pro 16gb 2x9gb ddr4 3000 CL15 $99.99 at bestbuy few months ago, I overclocked em to ddr4 3466 CL16 1.43V 16-20-20-T1 Paired with Ryzen 5 2600 4ghz

Hynix C-Die. I have the red RipJaws V version. Currently running on a B350 board and my 2600 at 16-18-18-38 at 3200Mhz. My 2600 hasn't been known to have the greatest memory controller and I didn't try for tighter timings (yet), and I saw Sherloc09 had these at Cas 14 at 3200Mhz also.

I feel old and remember when people bought computer parts based on specs and price but not color.

Yeah, I was gonna make a silly comment about how the Sniper X RAM was working great in my computer, but then I stood it up in my back lawn and now I can't find it anymore. Maybe a comment about how I know it's still out there, 'cause I keep finding dead mice that have all been shot through the head with a tiny bullet.

I can understand adding a little pizzazz to your product, but if you step back and think about it, the little cammo hats on sticks of memory are weird.


P.S. If someone made a "My Little Pony" heat spreader, I'd be all over that. That'd go well with my Fatty Dove Racing SSD.
 
Bumping again for 10% code and what appears to be good B-Die pricing. It's even black, for all you old farts who don't like racer red or cammo.

Seemed good enough for me to pull the trigger on.

I thought that as well. I couldn't get my b-die stable at 4133 c17 they were rated for with 2 sticks. Then I looked more into things. So I bought 2 more sticks and went from 16gb to 32gb. Now I am stable at the advertised ratings.

You are running 4 DIMMs at 4133 stable on an x470 platform? That's almost nearly impossible since Zen/+ doesn't have a divider for Infinity Fabric. But if you can prove me wrong then congrats!
 
Until about a year ago, SniperX was the go-to memory for 1st gen Ryzen. In some tests it OC'd slightly better than even b-die stuff.
When I did my Ryzen 2700X/X470 Tachi build last year I was going to buy these... but NewEgg was out - so got TridentX's instead (which OC nicely too).
Would have been happy then with either.
 
If anyone is shipping for B die 32GB I would save the $17 and get this kit vs the 3200; kit in the OP..

..They use the same B die ICs, and I have run them at 14-14-14-28-1T @3000,3200,3466 rock solid on a 3700x and Asus Prime Pro x470 Mobo...

I am currently working on 3600 14-15-14...It runs games and every day use fine, just need to see if it passes memory benchmarks.g


Just figured I'd post this here to maybe same someone a coupl bucks. If you can't be bothered to go into the bios and adjust the memory speed one notch then the 3200 kit is worth the extra money I guess. I personally would save the extra money and put it toward a larger SSD or better GPU.
 
This is a great thread. Its usually a nuisance trying to find that perfect set of ram and deciding where to buy.
 
I have a mostly closed case so those red heat spreads don't really bother me.

.... Shouldn't have trusted speculations that RAM was going back up....

- Thought I was being "clever" getting 16GB of 3200 for $70 a month ago.

You forget a link? I assume you're referring to the DDR43000 Cas14 kits?


Man I don't know how Chrome messed that up! Thanks for catching it. That is indeed the kit I was referring too. It's hard to find a better deal right now, unless you want to gamble on a 3600 relaxed timing Micron E die or Hynix M/CJR based kit.


The issue I had was the fact that your running dual rank when moving to the 16GB DIMMs, and it's really down to how picky your mobo is...

The whole issue with Asus setting the boot voltage to 1.2V was a PITA...I had to resort to resetting CMOS quite a few times trying to get my Micron D/E die kits stable and it's a time consuming PITA to have to input 30+ timings in the bios. For some reason I can't get Ryzen Master to work with ram timings.
