These haven't been announced, let alone tested- and if they arrive without DXR, well, making pre-announcement decisions will look a little silly ;).

I use a DVD drive quite often where it makes sense for my uses. I have a large stock of good working Dell branded Sony Optiarc's as well
 
Curious why you're buying components from Best Buy. That's not exactly their forte.

I buy there with price match as they match any body any day and after State tax has been added by Newegg and others which have lost that part now from buyers as to make Best Buy the better option all the way around as said about returns if needed . also I order online like from any store around NC when Best Buy has a fresh supply of Navi = 46 miles one way but in hand = I like not waiting and enjoying my purchase with in 24 hours without 1 day air .

Also I been telling BB that they already have the stores in the rights spots = College towns to take there business model to Micro Center level with more product to sell .. but yes they sell a lot of cpu's as 3600 are hard to keep in stock as I would of bought another one if they had it yesterday = $199 so why not ? … I saw 3 = 3700x to be had yesterday in that store at same Newegg price and they price matched my 1600 last year .
 
Testing a 3700x on a ROG X370-F with some cheap ram CRUCIAL 16GB 8X2 D4 3200CL16 BSLT.

So far on the AGESA 1002 BIOS, boost to 4.4Ghz works, and I have the ram running at 3600C16.

Testing a 3700x on a ROG X370-F with some cheap ram CRUCIAL 16GB 8X2 D4 3200CL16 BSLT.

So far on the AGESA 1002 BIOS, boost to 4.4Ghz works, and I have the ram running at 3600C16.

Will be swapping to an X570 shortly and doing more comparison testing.

A number of Youtube channels have already done this and basically, there's no difference in performance, at least as far as the CPU is concerned. As long as the VRM on those older boards is good enough to allow the CPU to boost, performance is virtually the same. There was some theories that the higher quality PCB's on x570 may, in theory allow higher memory speeds, but I have yet to see this happen in practice from what I've read and watched.
 
Yeah my main intention was to verify a functional bios, as there are a lot of reports of buggy bios's for the x370 and x470 boards.

Also am comparing power usage and memory clocking.

Kinda like it on top as it acts a secondary exhaust point and it allows for the GPU to be on the very bottom with vents in the bottom of the case to it can receive fresh air. Plus its a SFX-L so its so cute and tiny, but Sea sonic quality. This was if I venture further down the SFF PC rabbit hole because lets face it this case is more in the realm of Micro-AXT size but super tiny compared to my old school Lian-Li PC Lancool K-58

fans: 3 120mm front fans, 2 120mm radiator fans, 1 160mm rear fan. radiator fans are rpm controlled by motherboard. the rest are fixed power.

240mm aio's are really insufficient for the 3900x. They behave more like heatpipes at that size in that there is no real volume of water to absorb temp spikes when they happen and full load @ 4.2Ghz all cores puts the temps in the 70C range. Granted, I'm using only 2 fans on the radiator. Still, system is rock stable despite temps at idle being 29C and swings to the 70's under full sustained load compiling. Half the compile times with the same hardware and software as my 1800x

I'll be looking for a 360mm setup in the future when I go to upgrade my graphics card (when the next set of navi cards come out that will compete at the highend)

full load all cores at 4.2Ghz : 75-78C
full gaming load for avg games: mid 50's.

It's a sweet little build! I could fit like 3 of your cases inside of mine...I think I have more radspace thrn you have case space! :p

Loving this setup. Super quiet with virtually no changes needed for fan curves, etc... Paired with a 1440p ultrawide for maximum gaming pleasure!

Temps stay super low. In synthetics (e.g. prime95/intelburntest) CPU peaks in mid 60s C, and I've never seen the GPU break 64C even in extended Furmark runs. During real world load (gaming) temps hover in mid 50s for both. The NH-D15 barely fits in this case, but dear god does it do a good job!

The case is just alright. I'd rather they sold it for $30 less without the PSU. Then it would be more worth recommending. The included 200W PSU was too loud and had to replace it.

Also, the front panel cables are a bit short, and can't be routed around things.

One the plus side, with only an SSD or M.2, this case can offer decent ventilation for its size, unlike some other cases built to a small form factor.

Meanwhile, the wifi on this motherboard isn't the greatest (Intel 3168 module).

Given all my unused PSU cabling, maybe I should have gone with a smaller case and a Pico power adaptor. I just really dislike any kind of external adapter.

And with my 300W PSU I ended up with, I could potentially beef things up a bit down the road without power concerns.

Blue LEDs are terrible, and have been linked to sleep issues, migraine/headache/vertigo, and even cancer! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:


I hate the two small blue LEDs on my cable modem...my old one was green and I can't believe any major manufacturer is using blue LEDs in 2019. This is a fairly new modem, only been out for a year or so.

I took a sharpie and colored over it. Don't care if the cable company tries to charge me down the road either!

Thanks for the suggestion man, I appreciate it. My preference is 32GB, budget is <$500. I've come to that sad realization that populating all 4 dimms is not really an option as the chances of hitting the advertised speeds isn't guaranteed.

80c is not fine. :). 70c makes me unhappy

You may not like the temps, but they are indeed fine and typical when loading 12 cores. Have you looked at the reviews? These aren't exactly cool running processors even under water.

Yes, power and hdd activity LEDs.

But I only have the power LED active currently. And now that the build is stable, I'll probably unplug that one as well.

That's too bad they didn't use red or green or even a soft white or something. I would definitely have to unplug them.
 
I just got mostly dialed out. I'm quite new to Ryzen in general but it was simple enough. It's a bit more reliable than my previous SkylakeX 7820x. I got the cpu to 4.3ghz at 1.3v. Under Prime95 avx it gets up to 77c, but in normal use max average is 55c. Interestingly even at stock, the 3900x beat my [email protected] in Cinebench single and multi.

I got a gigabyte master X570. Motherboard is quiet. Don’t hear the chipset fan
 
asus pro x570 workstation mobo here. Chipset fan is not noticeable. Then again, I imagine it only really spins up when needed and I haven't setup something that could try saturating pci4. I imagine i'd need to raid0 both m2's and add m2 addon boards to the other slots and raid0 those before i can really tax pcie4. My old rx480 is certainly not going to make it sweat.

my camera not highest quality, very tight place to be taking them as well (no room yet to get "money shot" type pictures, but, this is what I have cobbled together for the moment :)

second fan to cooler (not need, but purple LED keep crazy blue LED tolerable)

did few adjust settings (after many times force reset BIOS, few times windows itself with no real explanation up/dump)

manged above 3600x "stock" stats according to cpu-z valid bench check (when went to single core was ONLY below the 7900 xe part

the top score I had (not cfv file thingy) was when forced ram @ 3600 though windows not seem to like it much (likely subtiming issue, i.e 18 instead of a 19 type thing)

I did adjust BIOS power supply to typical load instead of auto, disable superfetch, set windows to balanced power plan (not ryzen version) among other changes

seems to have made more stable and cooler running vs the ryzen based one, maybe a touch more "latent" though is still snappy response (even with many things open)


CPU-z

4085-4127 range (multi core) the 2 I list on the photos link you can see the 3 of them scores.
509-523 single core
seems performance not quite stabilized (course am stock not best for Ryzen 3 Agesa/BIOS)

While my main computer is listed in the signature below (may upgrade it after moving next year), I decided to swap out the 3770K for a 3600 w/Asus TUF Gaming Plus (using Wraith Prism cooler from 2700X). I pretty much undervolted the CPU/SOC (1.3/.9) and found it is stable at 4.1 manual OC across six cores and Cinebench takes it to about 75c. I still have a few things I want to mess with before calling it good, but I feel that I am near a good baseline.

I have messed with PBO for a few... I cannot seem to get the voltage under control, even with a -.08 offset.
 
Cost, overclockability, availability.

Though, cheaper 3600 has been proving to run at much tighter timings, whereas cheaper 3200 might not fair so well at higher frequencies.
