Why just why would you be this damn cheap. If I got this card I would be thinking its a damn fake.

Probably had an excess of 2070 Heatsink/Fans, got caught blindsided by the SUPER announcement and were 'forced' to do so to keep people from being confused upon pulling the GPU out of the box.

That said, I agree that it looks incredibly cheap and can still be confusing.

It's probably because they used existing coolers that already had the labels applied to them.

That is so cheap lol. Doesn't matter in the end as long as it is still a Super. Might be a hard sell on the use market with the super lable gone lol.

read the FAQ article, it's suppose to be removed.. AIB's are required to use the RTX 20X0 SUPER label nvidia created for the Super cards and it seems at least to me like EVGA doesn't want to use it or doesn't want to spend the extra money by throwing away a bunch of perfectly working heatsink covers/fans to fulfill nvidia's requirement. so they just put it on a removable sticker and added the "super" thing to the edge of the shroud. i think it's pretty smart on their end and wonder if any of the other AIB's are doing something similar just to piss on nvidia's cheerios.

might just be my morning head here.
but why does that make the super label needed to be removed by end user ?

From the FAQ on the EVGA link

"If the sticker is not removed, the card’s performance will be completely unaffected, but the LED lighting on the card (for EVGA GeForce RTX SUPER cards, which are so equipped) may look uneven."

Sorry, solid point, I take it all back actually.

Getting the feeling this is actually the best play from EVGA to its customers? given the recent Nvidia NDA shenanigans? Say no more, cheap RTX cards, rah rah rah...

Wait what ? im so lost here

Basically EVGA was caught off guard by Nvidia's new branding requirements for Turing GPUs and are doing the bare minimum in order to get through their existing inventory of perfectly good RTX heatsink/fan units.

It's definitely inelegant, but speaks more to Nvidia's shady business tactics than EVGA's.

I had an EVGA GTX 260 that was the newer, faster 216 version but did not actually mention it anywhere on the box or on the card itself (it had no sticker). I only knew it was a 216 variant when I ran GPU-Z and if I recall Nvidia control panel. Another [H] member apparently had the same card. With the initial 216 versions they didn't get boxes/stickers on time, likely because they had excess stickers/boxes already.

I assume the same deal is playing out here, except now they have lights and the logo is embedded into the heatsink itself. In the case there really is no cost effective way to remedy this. Personally I would've just done a sticker on the back plate but I assume that would get hot and peal off.

I don't think it's suppose to be part of the design the chip was just binned high and shelved with the newer memory.

I much prefer it with the standard 2070 labeling down the side and the Super just in the corner of the shroud. I say good on EVGA for giving the customer a choice while still complying with Nvidia's labeling conventions.

Who gives a shit. It's a label that means nothing. At least EVGA is still spending money on hiring staff that give you real customer support in the USA unlike most of these other GPU companies. If that means we get some wrong labels - Who cares.

So eVGA adds a Super sticker plus adds another label to the HSF? Why didn't they just add only the Super sticker and call it good instead of wasting time and money applying both? Makes no sense to me...
