Finally installed my custom SLI blocks

Here are the blocks as they arrived from the machine shop:

The machine shop didn't have a G1/4 tap, so I tapped them myself.

Got the first one installed. You can see my previous arrangement on GPUs 3 & 4. I had an identical arrangement on 1 & 2. Had a momentary Oh sh!t moment when the new block leaked because I had forgotten to tighten two of the screws. Oops.

This is some pretty damned nice work, but that must not have been easy.

I am curious, why did you decide to DIY over buying existing products for this?
 
4x RTX Titans. SLI with custom liquid cooling including custom blocks and 2x 480mm radiators! Any small countries you planning on conquering soon? Would love to see some gaming bench marks of this rig for games that support even 2 card SLI(or 4 if you've plugged the bits in).

The design side was pretty straightforward since I had the extra Alphacool headers leftover to copy the interface dimensions. I'm a mechanical engineer so this stuff is second nature. The machining was probably a PITA (it requires four setups on a 3-axis or two setups on 4-axis) but the shop didn't mention anything when I submitted the design.

I went DIY simply because I couldn't find a product for this. I wanted to run two independent loops for serviceability and redundancy (everything is on QDCs so I can swap every component between loops) and all of the 2-card SLI blocks I could find were too wide to fit side-by-side. My original setup with the U tube crossover was working well, but I'm not good at leaving well enough alone. Plus, I like doing random bits like this.

Ha! They game basically the same as the 2080Ti + 2-3fps. Not really anything special in that regard. All RTX cards (even the mighty Quadro 8000) are limited to only two cards in SLI/NVlink. What makes the Titans outstanding cards is that they're 24GB cards for what used to be a 12GB price. They're really quite hard to beat in that regard and I'm certain have cannibalized a significant number of Quadro sales.

Aside from rendering and computational tasks I'm sure that'll come in handy for 8k stuff. I've seen a number of 8k gaming videos on youtube and the 11GB of the TI's quickly gets overwhelmed in a number of AAA games.

These aren’t quite there for top level AAA FPS gaming at 4K. I think we’re probably 3-4 generations out from viable 8K gaming even at flagship price tiers. Not only do the GPUs need 8-10x greater compute, but a whole lot of subsystems need significant updates (such as PCI 5 and even DisplayPort). That will take time.

That said, these cards absolutely rip for rendering and the level of localized GPU compute that I do. Absolutely perfect specs given the price. Well, when they’re on water anyway. Much less impressive on the OEM air setup.
