Just wanted to see what people thought on reselling RMA or used GPU's.

Am I wrong on my logic that the secondary resell market has been destroyed? It used to be 24% to 40% reduction over sales price now it is expected to reduced over 75%, even a new RMA.

What happened to the good ole days of resell?

Reduced over 75%? Where are you finding these deals?

He is referring to the fact that he is selling a NIB EVGA 1060 6GB that has a "retail" price of $399, but the fact that you can buy a used/under warranty 1070ti/1080/Vega 56 for under $225-250.

These prices have driven down the cost of 1060 6GBs to $125 used.

Nobody is going to pay $399 for a 1060 6GB when they can get double the performance from a $399 5700xt/2060 Super or used 2070 Super.

At least that is my understanding.

Competition, coupled with the flood of used VEGA/580/PASCAL cards has driven prices way down. Same thing happened in 2014-3926 after the LtC bubble burst from ASICs hitting the scene.

Hell, I have a brand new VII that looks to be a golden card to stick under water (even is quite nice on air) that I opened 10 days ago to make sure it wasn't DOA abd I have been getting lowballed left and right on it.

I hadn't even mentioned a price but offering $400-450 for a card that is $699 (and still has plenty of demand from Content creators due to it being the only affordable 16GB HBM2 card with good FP64 speed) is slightly insult worthy. My local CL has them going for $500-550 and they sell quite fast.

The GTX-1060 6GB was a $250 card three years ago. I was buying them for $200 a year later before the prices shot through the roof because of miners. If you paid $400 for it, then you got suckered.

I'm seeing them for $130-$150, which seems about right given it's age and how many there are out there.

When the GPU in question is the current generation, then this logic may work.

When the GPU is a generation old and you can get brand new parts that are more powerful, more power efficient and are cheaper than the previous generation, you'd obviously need to factor those in.

The current gen GTX 1660 which you can find new is as cheap as $200 on amazon, and outperforms your 1060 by 15-20% while drawing the same power.

If you are a potential buyer, and knowing the 1660 is brand new, 20% faster, and will use less power to run than the 1060 you have, which no longer carries a full warranty, at what price must the 1060 be for you to consider it? At this point in time, IMO you should be expecting somewhere near the $150 range.

Here on [H], was offered $100 for my new RMA GTX1060 6gb gpu. The buyers expected the $100 would cover shipping and PP.

Good info, now I understand where everyone is coming from. I will just toss it to my daughter's PC system or keep it for back up.

Must have! They were listed on EVGA website for $379 shipped to my door with 3-year warranty.

Though it was the GTX 1660 Ti model? $279 to $299.

The 1660TI model is roughly equivalent with 1070 performance.

The 1660 non TI model is a closer comparison and is faster by about 15-20% compared to the 1060 and is what you should be comparing to in this case IMO.

100 may be too low, though you did say best offer :D

LOL on best offer! *Rimshot noise* Good one!:)

I have a spare EVGA 1070 hybrid, still under warranty, not mined with, all original packaging, and holds a steady OC between 21-2200mhz

I got several offers around (or less than) $200 shipped . I mean I get it with the prices but this stomps the 1660 and has higher avg FPS than either of the 1080s I had. Back on the shelf it went...

I just bought 4 RX 580 8GB Powercolor Red devil cards for $90ea, the used market is in the tank.

It should only tank more. I'm waiting to pick up a 1080ti for under $400.

CL and FB Marketplace in my area Baltimore/DC has a few straight 1080s right at $400, but I haven't seen a ti get below 500 yet. And trust me I watch.

I take that back, one EVGA 1080ti Black just popped for $470; that is the lowest I've seen in this area over the last 6 weeks.

Ok, so now I feel like a dope for a triple post edit, but literally in the last twenty minutes, not one, but two (count'em two!) 1080tis have popped on FB marketplace under $400!

Brand new RX 580s have been $160 with free games recently and GTX 1660s have been dipping to $200 and below. Both of those are faster cards to varying degrees. So $100 for a used GTX 1060 6GB from a random forum member seems reasonable to me.

You really have to do some prior research on the state of the market if you don't want to feel like people are trying to throw the wool over your eyes when you sell in places like this. You may have felt like people were being total cheapskates, but really, you were just out of touch with how things actually are. GTX 1060s were never $400 officially (MSRP, not w/e resellers were scalping for), so of course no one was going to consider going even remotely close to that.

A fellow right here on [H] just sold a founders edition 1080Ti for $420 (i believe) a few hours ago.. It's just how it is, prices are in free fall and price remain relative to performance. On the bright side, all used last gen components are in free fall. The 1060 6GBs trade in value towards a higher end (1070, 1080, 1080Ti) hasn't really changed. Though I don't remember anybody ever paying $399 for one, that must have been bought during the crypto boom.

It's all about the market. People.sometimes want (and sells) used cards at almost the price of new ones. I really do not understand that. If a item is used, besides warranty left, it always should de priced at least 20% less of bnib same product. Isn't it?

I've been watching the FS threads here and the last few days they have started dropping prices fast.

30% minimum, its used.

Resell limited supply new cards or ultra rare cards (hard to even think of any cards that would fit that grouping).

Used or RMA is dependent on the mfg. If the warranty transfers, add a couple $ to the going rate. If not, an RMA card for I&P is just a "guaranteed" working used cards.

The rules and times have not changed selling used items as far as I understand them.

The used market is a mess because people do not understand depreciation, anything more than a year old regardless of tech should be 30% off MSRP.

I went through this with hurricane damage claims with homeowners/windstorm insurance, they pay out based on depreciation tables not emotion. Any of my items over 1 yr old got reimbursed around 40% off purchase price. They do not consider inflated prices as a reason to over compensate for bad EBAY /Amazon decisions.

For example I saw a Vega 56 for 1200 USD, no way I would get full reimbursement for this purchase used or new on a claim, they would use the 399 MSRP and give me 200 if I am lucky.

Good information people. The truth is, stuff just got harder to unload unless your willing to sell cheap!

The law of supply and demand. Miners took the GPU market and tossed it upside down. We are returning back to pre miner days but higher GPU new prices now. People are still gonna get rekt on fairly new used GPU. Miners made your old GPU still valuable. Heh

Most policies I've had will give the actual market value of my lost items if I supply them with enough proof that I would be able to replace my stuff for what they're offering ( a single eBay listing at 4x original MSRP isn't enough).

Demanding that used items should x% off is ludicrous. Supply and demand dictates what these things will sell for. If you don't like the price, don't buy it. If enough people don't buy at a certain price it'll come down.

While asking price is upto the seller, and commenting on asking price is "thread crapping" on the FS/FT threads, this aint that forum or post. Do find it funny you posted sticker and left OBO to abide by the rules lol.

Lets be real here 40% off of 399 equates to $239....for a 1060 6b that probably has less warranty then a new 1060, 1660 or 1660Ti with or without a MIR and new warranty. If you are a buyer, what would you choose?

While miners and the such may have artificially caused many issues for the used market, I`d be hard pressed to link that event to the one you are currently facing.

just my 2C

Not at all! Still has a 2-year warranty. I only posted it like that because I had no idea what to post for price. (being honest) If people want to offer $100, no butthurt on my end. This thread was to help me catch up on pricing.

They (well, I guess I should say "we" since I mined too) caused problems for the new market too. That's why the OP bought a $200 card for $400. Hell, I almost sold one of my 1080TIs for $1200.

The card was from EVGA 12 months ago $399.99. Why did it break, no idea? New RMA issued, but I already purchased the GTX2060.

And a new card from EVGA will come with a 3 year warranty. I would search the current going rate on these forums and other avenues for non-transferable warranty cards and add a premium. The used market is open to interpretation of course, and the price folks willing to pay may differ from venue to venue. Unfortunately just with any commodity, it does not take into consideration what you may have paid for it 12 months ago when the miners were dominant.

You paid $399 for a 1060 a year ago? That's crazy. Old gen GPU's always seem to be a rip off at retail down the road. 1060's have been in the $130-160 range for a year or more. Seems like you just didn't do your homework when you bought the original card.

About a year to a year and a half ago most new 1060 6 GB editions were around 400 USD. My wife's and my MSI laptop gave up the ghost and I was seriously looking for a 1050 Ti, RX 570, RX 580, or 1060 at anywhere close to launch MSRP and they simply didn't appear to exist. (I was going to place it in my mother-in-law's anemic computer I built her a few years ago.) We ended up replacing the laptop as there was no value proposition in the new card market back then.

I paid $330 new for EVGA 1060 6GB in January 2018. Sold it for $155 a few months ago.

Paid $260 for an Asus 1060 3GB that same month and sold it for $275 this April, but it was still sealed.

The crazy ones for me were the 980's.. paid $550 for them on launch day 2014 and sold them for $285 each 4 years later.. nuts.

you got $285 each 7 months ago for them?

I bought one at launch for $580 (EVGA 980SC) and a used one for $200 2 years later, ran SLI till November 2017 when I picked up a NIB EVGA 1080ti FTW3 for $675 shipped from a member here.
Ended up trading both 980 SC's for a Dell 3415 Ultrawide monitor shortly after I got the 1080ti.

Yeah I got a couple nasty notes from people about how my prices were a joke and then a couple of others were happy enough to buy them. One person even wrote me back after using it for a couple days b/c he was so happy with it. Just takes 1 buyer.

I'd seen some other sales at that time for that price so I wasn't pulling it out of my rear or anything.

Edit: Wasn't 7 months.. purchased in Sept 14 and sold in late spring/early summer 2018.

That makes more sense. A 980 ti will still pull well north of $200 in my local area.

You're always entitled to ask what you want for your video cards. That doesn't mean people are going to pay that for them. I get it that sometimes it only takes 1 buyer, but most people aren't going to wait weeks/months to sell their old stuff waiting for that one buyer who may never come.

$100 is on the low side of what I'd consider the 1060 6GB to be worth now. Realistically $115-140 depending on the condition and model. I wouldn't have been upset at a $100 "lowball" though.

In brentsg's case, I think I remember his cards and thinking, "There's no way that card is worth that." But like he says, it only takes 1 buyer. I wouldn't have written PM's to him about "joke" pricing though. Either make a reasonable offer or just move on to the next card. No sense in flaming a guy trying to get rid of his stuff.

As for the Radeon VII...I bought one for $575 in the forums maybe a month after release. I saw one go for $450 shipped maybe 2 weeks ago. Hard to say what a true value is for that card. It's marginally faster than the 5700XT for gaming, but I don't think it was every really meant to be a gaming card. It was just a workstation card repurposed for gaming.

Last gen stuff is always a tough sell for big money absent a market aberration. Look at the 2700X now in the FS/FT. Saw a few for $185 shipped with the Prism cooler. Bang for your buck, that's a kick ass chip for $185 (that's like $12 a thread! ).

Previous gen Ryzen chips are in freefall on ebay, I just got a 1700 with wraith spire for 100 shipped.
