This came out in 2017 for around $160. Now, Micro Center has them for $49.

The Columbus, Ohio store shows 10+ in stock. I checked a few other stores and they were sold out, so it's YMMV.

This would have been killer with the R5 1600 for $79, a total of $99 after the $30 discount. However, my local store just sold out of them.

wish i had a micro center closer. have one but getting another one would be nice

Just keep in mind X370 boards are picky about memory.

I think the CPU generation has a much larger effect on memory compatibility than the chipset (at least when it comes to Ryzen), but that being said the PRIME X370-PRO is trash for memory overclocking among X370 boards, so don't buy one if that's something you're interested in. I can do 3333 CL14 on mine with a 1700X, but 3400 CL16 has been almost impossible to stabilize. Maybe my IMC is just really bad, but others have achieved 3466 CL14 and better on other boards (C6H) with the same CPU.

Thanks for the heads up on this... The $30 off promo worked with the Ryzen 5 1600 bundled with this board. I also used my $5 off $30 or more purchase from RetailMeNot, so total for me out the door was right around $100 after tax.

These are most likely early revisions that have been refurbished by Asus...Having this much stock doesn't make sense otherwise...

These boards had an issue where they would randomly brick the bios and no amount of trickery would bring it back to life. I wasted 10+ hours tesribg down my loop trying to do so.

Thankfully I purchased the MC no questions asked replacement plan and they gave me a brand new later revision that I sold here on [H] since I had purchased an Asus x470 Prime during the eBay 25% off sale via Newegg last summer so I would have a working system.

I will say that as of the latest bios release in April of 2018, I was able to rub my kit of Hynix based ram at it's 3200 with no issues. Prior I was rubbing it at 2933c14.

The crazy thing is that they do not say they are open box or refurbs, but I have a feeling you are going to need a first gen Ryzeb to flash the bios to support the 2 and 3 series.

Anyone that has MC nearby want to pick one up for me? I'll PP you the cost plus shipping. I webt from having 3 MC's to none within 1500 miles when I moved to the left cost.

Sent you a PM ccityinstaller... if anyone else wants me to grab them a board and pay me cost of board (plus shipping), let me know via PM. I have no shame making a run on the nearest MC and walking out with a bunch of motherboards to help out my fellow [H] members. :)

Edit: MC says limit one per household... I can try grabbing another board but would need another address to put it under. Just an FYI for anyone interested.

Going to give it a shot and upgrade my i5 2500k. I think its a worthwhile upgrade for cheap. This i5 has been running 4ghz for years.. We shall see

Its a big upgrade especially for the price

Ryzen 1700x for $130 is probably next best bet.

$150 for a nice CPU/RAM combo.

I'd be interested in what you find out about this. According to passmark at stock clocks they should roughly feel the same until you start throwing more tasks at them, but cpuworld points out the memory bandwidth is 2x as well, so that should have an impact as well. Very curious. Run speed-battle.com on each system and let us know. I wonder how much the difference will be.

I haven't had a chance to install mine yet, so when you guys do, please let us know how you like it. Help the OP out :)

It has next to nothing to do with the chipset. It's primarily about the CPU's memory controller and the trace path layout / design of the motherboard. The motherboard's VRM implementation for the memory power phases comes into play as well.

I went there last Friday, and after looking at a lot of the deals and open boxes (there was one open box b350 fatality board for $40, with the combo it'd have been $10 plus $80 for a 1600... but the board was missing EVERYTHING, even the heatsink mounts and i/o shield, literally was just the board and a very damaged box, also I noticed on the support page for the board there was no BIOS available for zen2 which was the main reason I passed) but I ended up getting a asrock b450m pro4 matx board. Theses ASUS lower end boards aren't great, IDK about this one specifically but a lot of the Prime boards have some lesser VRM's and other cost cutting measures. I paid $125 for the board and CPU so I'm pretty happy. Already have a buyer for it, just waiting for zen2. I need the 1600 to flash my boards BIOS, since I sold my 1700x and forgot to flash it.

Yea MC are a big miss for open box MB. I went to look at a couple x299 boards and both were missing everything. One had MB standoffs loose in antistatic bag with the board. Both had bent pins with thermal grease all over the socket.

you can get a ryzen 2700 and this motherboard for $200

jesus.

Yes but, most are going to be OOS on this mainboard. (There just happen to be one left at the Mayfield Heights MC when I went there on Sunday and snatched it up without hesitation.) Between that and a 1600, that was a great deal.

Contemplating picking up another combo, as my store still has 8 left. The 1700x is $129 and the 2700 is $179. However, you get the AMD Division 2 game bundle with the 2700, which is selling for about $20 on ebay. So, sell the game bundle, and you get the 2700 for $159. Think it's worth $30 to get the 2700 over the 1700x, seeing as it's faster and comes with a Wraith Spire LED? I'm thinking so...

$30 for the cooler? Yep.... :)

Yeah the better boost clocks and IPC improvement are with it. But you need to make sure that t he bios on the board will support a Zen+ CPU since you will need a Zen1 to flash unless you can get them to do I for you for lunch money.

AMD had that boot kit thing but it was a bit of a nightnare. Sucks you cannot even buy a $50 Athlon and use that to flash it since it needs the same or newer bios.

I'd love to see AMD AND Intel force the ODMs to include a $.50 arm core on every retail Mobo that will allow the board to boot and flash so this issue dies.

Anyone care to chime in what revision board you got? These had an issue where they would randomly brick the bios and Asus claimed to have fixed it. I would strongly suggest you pick up the $6-8 warranty from MC since it will give you an instant way of not having to ever mess with Asus RMA.

Ok, so with the latest price drops on AMD chips at Micro Center, I'm going to be returning my unopened 2700 (paid $179) and getting the 2700x instead for $199 (was $249 yesterday). My question is, I really like to sounds of Precision Boost. Will this ASUS X370 board support precision boost? From my limited Googling, I can't get a straight answer. Otherwise, which "cheap" board do you recommend for this 2700x to utilize precision boost? I'm thinking a B450 will suffice. This will be for my desk PC (light gaming, handbrake etc.) with 32GB DDR4 3000.

Is anyone certain this needs a first GEN Ryzen to flash the bios to support the newer procs?

Price was too good I picked up a motherboard and a 2600X. My sticker shows AMD Ryzen desktop 2000 ready too.

I'm fairly certain. I would loan you my 1600 if you promise to return it unharmed and cover shipping both ways once I get my 37/38/39x in my hands.

I no longer have a 2xxx series to test with, but my.board just showed up. Gonna see what revision it is and will report back.

Good news for at least me it seems....Box says 2000 rdy but that doesn't mean squat if you are trying to use it with a 3k and don't have a way to flash it.

Awesome deal!

Was at Microcenter Wednesday and they had 10+ of these in Sharonville OH. Today—- Nada
1600 is sold out here too.

Purely on impulse I ended up with :
2700
Asus Strix B450f gaming
16gb Gskill 3200

All open box and $230 and change after tax. New Ryzen is looking good but these close out deals are incredible.

Edit: Everyone close to a Microcenter watch for all those open box CPUs and boards etc beginning next week once a lot of people return their $79 1600 after flashing for the new CPUs. Or all of it for x570 Ryzen 3

Wow. That is insane! You can pick up a Zen 3 sku down the road and sell your 2700 for a big chunk of it!

Which G.skill ran did you get? Don't tell me it is the Samsung b die based for that price! I assume it's the Hynix based RipJaws. If it has 16-18-18 timings then it's Hynix. I was able to run my kit of it with tighter timings, but could not go 3466 or higher with loose timings in my sig setup.

Ohya it’s the Hynix kit. Nice results on yours! For most everyone it’s fine at it’s rated timings and those of us wringing every ounce of performance out of things are probably looking elsewhere.

I’m rebuilding a pc with the combo for a friend. Was going to keep it but his board is dead and I can pass along a good deal and make a few bucks for my time. Win-win.

I'm willing to bet ifnoyu bump SoC Vcore a notch you will be able to do 3200 c16-16-16 at worst and possibly even c15 across with 1.4V on the memory voltage.

I could do 2933c14 on ab older bios and then 3066c15 but I lost all sub timings sijcr I didn't realize I had to back up the damn OC profiles with Asus. My MSI z77Mpower I came from would update the bios but keep your OC profiles.

Once I learned the hard way about asus I tried to back up and restore just to see how it works only to keep getting errors...Turnsoout the Mobo dumped a text file with all settings and you have to go back and reenter it all manually. Its a PITA BUT better then nothing I guess.

Picked this up with a 2700x for $219 + tax. Ridiculous price. Went Sunday and picked up a 3600 too. Have to decide which CPU to keep...

Mine came with BIOS 3805.

Do they let you add the protection plan post purchase?

Microcenter will do it for $30, or you can do the AMD Bootkit program. Fill out a warranty claim for CPU, and note that you need to update your BIOS on your board. They will send you a form and they provide an older chip so you can update you BIOS.

This Asus x370 board and a 2600x I picked up to build a full system to resell with some extra parts I have on hand — all stock speeds is very comparable if not slightly faster than my i7 6850k overclocked to 4.3Ghz - both with a 1080TI according to 3DMark Firestrike benchmarks.

Very impressive for the price.
$140+50-$30.

+ $450 zotac 1080ti

Faster than 95% of all systems according to the benchmark suite results for easily less $1k. >21,000 scores.

I have one of these in my mother's computer. I might throw in the 3600 I just ordered just for kicks.

I got this same exact system from MicroCenter to build out as a third PC for my son to play games on; good to hear it benches that high with the 1080ti.

I keep a Bristol Ridge APU (Excavator core-based) around for socket AM4 BIOS flashing. People tend to forget these exist and are dirt cheap (and also work on all AM4 boards).

Sadly, not 100% true anymore. You are referring to the old A-series AM4 APUs right? I sell some B450 boards (Gigabyte) that do not show official support for any of the old A-series AM4 APUs. Read somewhere that it was supposedly due to the BIOS chip not having enough capacity.
