So apparently micro center is having a special event for the ryzen launch on Sunday.

Who else is gonna go see what the hubbub is all about?

I would hope its something more than just getting people in the door and the event being purchasing a new CPU.

Likely is. This will likely turn into an iPhone type event than anything else. Lately, a lot of Micro Center events are like this - NJ and PA.

I know I'm going to get my passport updated, and camp overnight to hear the things that you'll only hear at Microcenter!!!

(we'll all be "in the know" and everyone else will be totally lost.... totally)

I got a free (albeit crappy) router from the Sandybridge launch many moons ago.
I will be there for this as well; doesn't hurt that I have three (3) Microcenters within a 30min drive radius.

I'm guessing you live in NYC.

There's one in Duluth and Marietta. I'm not a fan of the Marietta one, but it exists.

I'll be at Marietta 30 mins before launc . I want a Gigabyte Master and 3900x and 3600 non x all in one day.

I'm waiting for Prime Day to see what gets dumped.

Curious what the urgent reorders will be after Sunday, what retailers do after they get content engagement metrics for sku etc.

Guess I'll have an idea when the big YouTubers crank out the same message patterns next week.

Most interested in seeing if they push x470 or b450 hardest for budget builds.

There will be a line before 8am I'm betting.

Possible

But I'm personal friends with the manager at Marietta Microcenter so .... maybe I can use that game card in my deck. Well see.

I'm sure AMD has this launch well supplied and hopefully and surely have learned from the Ryzen 1 launch heartburn.

Though in all seriousness it's probably a free magnetic parts tray lmao that you get for free for showing up.

Food truck opportunity if there isn't anything 24hr in the town the MC is in.
Sell dogs, tacos, drinks, coffee, etc until open out of your trunk.

Walk into MC and spend the profits on gear when they open.

I'm probably going to swing by in the morning to grab a cpu and motherboard, assuming they don't mark them up by much. If all goes to plan, which it won't, I should be able to put everything together and will be enjoying my new build by this time tomorrow.

Exactly how many guys are gonna pony up for a $700+ Mobo in the next couple days?

I think there will be a few cheapies like the x570 gaming + & x570 prime on the shelves, and then early adopters have to think hard about digging deep when those door rushers clear out the cheap stuff.

I am not. Watch Buildzoids review of the various boards.

For instance the super hyper expensive Gigabyte X570 Extreme, accoording to Zoid is way way way too overkill. He even said why in the hell does anyone need that much power delivery for a 105watt chip blows his mind.

He even said the $3xx.xx priced x570 Master is overkill AF and is way more than enough for a 105w chip.

The MSI boards are also redunculous etc.... Watch Build Zoids board analysis tonight to be best informed before the sun rises.

*I*, *you*, and others watch BZ.
I'm thinking that anyone buying at the stroke of 12:01am isn't so anchored.

I figure a little retail diversion to the top part of the shelf until Monday, then cartons of cheap boards come out.

Then you get that weird upsmanship where a guy just has to buy a little higher than he set out to when they sit in a crowd getting hyped up.

Watch the launch bios refuse to post unless it sees all power populated....even if you are using a 3600.

Now this is [H]ard.

Well what will be very [H] is all the glue left over from the Duct Tape. That 3900x is going to stick to my palms and be hard to peel off.

In truth I bet Microcenter sells out before I get there an hour early because they released the things on their website at 5am when everyone normal is asleep.

Stop it. Just stop it ya?

Well it was a cluster fuck at the gwinett one in GA. Was told it was 7am start by an employee just six days ago and not only is it at 9am, but the guy at the door also said the 3800 won't be in til tomorrow. Plus you cant pay for it early. Really sucks cause this Mc has always been on the ball about good info for me. So now I either wait and hope or just drive the hour home.

Dude at the door was nice to me though. Sucks about the 1 hour drive on bad info and the fact that I might not be able to get the part today even if i waited. Sigh.

microcenter website shows ryzen 3000 series CPUs as well as x570 motherboards. CPUs show unavailable online, but do show in store quantity, while motherboards can be ordered online.
