Not sure anymore if I want to keep my PG27UQ

I just received my new PG27UQ 4 days ago, and I'm already not sure if want to keep it. In term of quality, I think I have won a screen lottery with this one. So far I can't find any issue. No dead pixel or noticeable black-light bleed. Fan is quiet. Its non-fake HDR is absolutely beautiful. Just one thing I that really annoys me is 27". I know it's been only 4 days, I might eventually get use to it if t give it more time. But it does feel too small for me, especially at 4K resolution. My previous monitor was Dell 30" U3011 (died recently and I needed a replacement quick), and I loved that screen size. I chose to give PG27UQ a try because it's the only one of two monitors that has everything I wanted except the screen size. Today Asus announced new PG27UQX with Mini-LED, instantly made my 4-day old monitor obsolete. New Mini-LED should drastically reduce halo effect I've noticed in dark scene on PG27UQ. Now I'm even less sure about keeping it. Another problem is, there isn't any other monitor available today that I want to buy. There aren't any 3840x2160 32" IPS monitor with similar spec.

If you were me, what would you do? Would you try to continue to live with PG27UQ?

If I'm going to make compromises, I guess I can let go fast refresh rate and maybe adaptive sync as well. 120~144Hz are definitely smoother and nice to have, but felt like so what and not a big deal for me. It didn't really WOW me. Feel kind of the same with G-sync. However, on the other hand, DisplayHDR1000 blew me away. I fell in love with true HDR. I really would love to have it. Do you know any 3840x2160 32" IPS with really good HDR? The only one I can think of is upcoming ProArt PA32UX, which currently unknown when it will be released.

I am curious what you end up doing. I also have a Dell 30" that is nearing the end of it's life, so I have been contemplating a gaming focused 27" monitor. I saw a 27" monitor in Best Buy the other day and it is much smaller than I expected. Might be a deal breaker for me too :(

I'm holding out to see how the PG27UQX turns out, but I think I might need to go bigger.

Hard to say when we will see the PG27UQX. The PA32UCX was supposed to come out "Spring 2019" according to anandtech, and spring is almost over...

Acer/Asus' history of monitor release dates over the past 3 or 4 years is nothing but 12-24 month delays, so yeah. Really don't trust anything they say or show anymore, until the day it shows up for sale.

Reminder that we are STILL waiting for the Acer X35/PG35VQ...

It's true. 27" is too small. The 30" 16:10 monitors were actually the perfect size. I don't even like the 16:9 aspect ratio honestly.

At Computex 2019, Acer accounced ConceptD CM7321K 1152-zone FALD, similar or slightly better spec than PA32UCX. This should be another good option to consider. And it already has a release date and price. Sep 2019 and $2999. If this comes out on time, I think Asus should release theirs at roughly the same time as well.

If both are going to be delayed again for extended period, I guess the only alternative available right now is PA32UC 384-zone FALD. It does 1000 nit for HDR and has free sync. I'm actually considering this one as well because the price is $1999, $1000 cheaper than upcoming both 1000-zone monitors. Its most recent firmware seem to address its weaknesses, but still not sure. New 1000-zone monitor should make HDR look hell a lot better, and deliver black level never seen before in LCD monitor at this price range. Anyone here have used or still own PA32UC? What do you think of it?

I have decided I'm going to return my PG27UQ in 1~2 weeks. Then I have use my really old 12-year old Dell 27" monitor (still works) until I get my new 32", hopefully soon.

I have just sent back my PG27UQ today. Waiting for either ConceptD CM7321K coming in September or ProArt PA32UCX.

I am dreading the day 30+ 144Hz IPS comes out, cause I know myself and lack of self control for non essential pc components will go into overdrive.

ProArt PA32UCX finally has a launch date. "sometime in late June" 2019. Looks like I won't have wait long.
