AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT picture and specs leaked

Love seeing the XT moniker making a comeback.
AMD this year is reminding me of ATi in mid 00's and the A64 smackdown all over again...

I’m in for the XT if it’s cheap and has a good value per dollar and doesn’t get too loud. Basically just waiting for benchmarks

Kind of sad that someone (at AMD?) keeps leaking all their slides.

Show me the pricing!

That would basically make it a 2060ish, I am not sure if the 2070 is more than 10% better that a 2060.

But idk, I hope to see better than 2060 performance for $300 to be a real value king.

EDIT## According to tpu the 2060 is 20% slower than the 2070. So we'd be basically looking at a 2060ti for $300. Not bad.

Precisely. The non-XT/Pro should be around 2060ti/1080 if the 5700 XT is around RTX 2070 performance. I'll take that for $300.

Honestly it still feels like we're being ripped off even there. As you have been able to get 1080 performance for (used) about $300 for some time.

But yeah I will probably be a buyer in the fall after things all shake down. Wish we were getting more for our dollar.

It's good to see AMD competing again, I hope they put price pressure on NVIDIA so the market can reset to normal(ish) levels. I won't be buying a new gfx card for at least another year though, this Titan XP has been the single best purchase I've ever made for a video card so far.

It may have decent performance, but it will neither be cheap, nor will it be quiet (at least not the blower version).

AMD does need to step up their game in the cooling department. Nvidias most recent coolers were pretty nice.

Sure if AMD prices it like you want.

But remember that Sapphire marketing guy who spilled the beans, he essentially outed these products exactly, and priced them at $500 and $400.

Though it may have been adjusted since then, or AMD may wait until closer to launch to see what NVidia is doing.

I mean if those turn out to be true, that sounds like a pretty big flop to me. If performance is where we think it is.

Or AMD told them a fake price and if it got leaked, they know the source who spilled the beans? Nvidia does this all the time with their NDAs.

Proof? Curious what makes you say that about Nvidia (not that I don't believe it just hadn't heard it.)

To be fair to NV and Battlefield. The [H] numbers are very old now... and that game has been updated specifically for RTX performance a few times since.

However lets all get real.... if you want to actually play at 1440 with ray tracing on. The 2070 isn't going to cut it >.<

RT is a feature a bit ahead of its time. RT isn't going to hit games for real for another few years... at which point we will have 3 Ray Tracing cards to choose from NV / AMD / Intel... until then FORGET about silly RT. Its going to suck unless you can afford a 2080 TI... and even then Its going to get out done this Xmas by streaming versions of RT games.

On topic... it looks like this AMD card is basically a (NV 1770) ok that doesn't exist. But I imagine nvidia could release one if they really feel threatened by AMDs pricing.

I will be considering these new Navi myself as I will likely build a new Ryzen machine for me... and I'm a die hard Linux guy who would prefer to run AMDs open source drivers over NV crap. However unless AMD has a shockingly good value sku under this one (say to replace the current budget hero 570) I don't expect AMD to pick up much market share with these.

This. I think only fanboys fight over RT. A reasonable person should know that to really enjoy RT you sort of need minimum 2080 and that is me pushing it. 2080ti is where its at for RT and even then. One of the reasons I never bought one of my rtx 2060s for rtx, lol. I am waiting a couple of years until its truly a feature that is mainstream and can run 1440p on a card <$500.

XT: $449
Pro: $379

So a little reduced from Sapphire leak.
Last-minute decision.

I agree with some of the other posts here, $399 and $299 would have shaken things up.

Forced to last-minute I reckon.

Pretty sure that pricing is always adjusted up to the last minute for announcements in the consumer electronics industry. Its like the price is right where people bet $1 higher... you want to maximize your profit so you price a just tad bit better than the competition in price/performance.

In that vein, there's always an advantage in getting the last word but not too long afterwards so people are still paying attention. Kinda like when PS4 undercut the XBox price in a press conference right after. Or like how NVIDIA teased a "Super" announcement as a CES keynote then held it off when it became clear that AMD wasn't releasing anything at CES and replaced it with a junk presentation saying nothing. If I had to bet, now that they know the AMD prices they will also do a last minute adjustment of their prices and roll out the "Super" announcement they ended up saving to try to get the last word in.

Based on the live stream, there is nothing we didn't really expect on the GPU's performance. The top end RX 5700XT falls between NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 2070 and 2080 cards.

I would lay money that Nvidia will now drop into the martial arts stance and shoot a fist at AMD's solar plexus by dropping 2070 to $399, or god forbid $379 if Jen-Hsun is feeling particularly uncharitable and playing too much Mortal Kombat (he loves the finishers).

NVidia would rather add performance than drop prices.

I think it more likely to release the rumored Ti/Super cards with more cores enabled and maybe a memory clock boost. Just like they did when the Vega 56 beat the 1070, they enabled a few more cores and created 1070Ti.

Totally agree on this one. They probably have production down to where more dies are made without defect or failure now so they can sell them at the same price while giving more performance. The older skus aren't probably overstocked so they will die out easily.

I hooked up my 42"um Seiki 4K to the CX 570's and ran SB in Ultra 4K = 60.4 fps on my old ass x58 , so them boys be smoking with something alittle faster platform as Relive pulls me down to 48 fps recording it .. I thought that was pretty good for the daisy chain .. just saying that should be the power range of the RX 5700 to me if I was going buy and no more then $350

They'll do both. A 2070 Ti/Super will get slotted into current 2070 pricepoint, and regular 2070 will drop to $399 or $379 and ride 5700XT like a Filipino love slave.

yep I think they are trying to go back to roots. I have a 6th sense these cards might OC like beasts given they gave em 2 plugs and talked about how they care about OC. Reports were they could run it 2ghz plus but they were requiring much more power and AMD wanted to target 225w total board range. I am looking forward to the reviews.

It's good to see AMD competing again

They're competing with themselves- they lack modern features and a top-end model. About the only thing these cards bring will be HDMI VRR support to lower price, power draw, thermal and noise levels, and that's only going to matter to the handful of people that are using them with HDTVs.

[which if that's what you're doing, more power to you]

So slotting in basically above a 2060 and tying the top end of 2070 and stock 2070 ti if one exists

Not bad for those interested in team red with RTX. While I cannot figure out $/per metrics etc, I`d say this isnt putting too much pressure but gives one more options in this field. I guess for those folks who want some below that Ray-Tracing price point threshold like myself, pick up the Turing Non RTX cards or RX590 when those things hit some deals (ie. New 590s for $160 that some folks took advantage of).

Lol at those prices they can shove it up their ass as all they did was join in on the pricing fuckery that Nvidia is already doing. And hell some 2070 cards have already been on sale at times for around 400 bucks.

agreed.. Navi actually make sometimes Turing appear to be cheap.. lol..

It's funny seeing you AMD folk rooting for AMD while at the same time wanting them to release products for pennies on the dollar. It ever occur to you that the price of chip fabrication isn't scaling down and that they have to sell at these prices to make at least a small profit? AMD would go under very quickly if they sold their products at cost.

I bet they were reading feedback on various forums and dropped it.
And agreed 400 and 300 would've been really much more enticing. Hopefully they drop to that with the 'super' BS.

That would be great but that sure gets into 2060 territory, and that card doesn't have much room to drop.

If anything Nv could drop the 2070 to $449. Same price as 5700, +RTX.

No need to go lower.

Does Nv even have to do that tho? Reviews will tell I guess.

I saw somewhere that generally amd products got better over time. Where as intel and nvidia did not? So maybe with driver updates these cards can get even better?

It comes down to this, you can never satisfy everyone in this thread and in the market at the same time.

What you can do is offer more options. Options are good, monopolies are bad

Nvidia launched the RTX
-increased the pricing line
-offered the same performance or a fraction better in terms of raw gpu performance
-offered a groundbreaking feature that had yet to be adopted
-the RTX tax was necessary

AMD launches the NAVI lineup
-increased the pricing lineup
-claims of more raw performance
-removed the groundbreaking feature that had yet to be adopted
-priced it to acknowledge the above missing feature.

The thing here is now for a buyer of a product in the pricing spectrum of the 5700/2060 or 5700xt/2070, you have a simple choice:
a) What do you play and which gpu maker provides better optimization for that game
b) do you want to pay the RTX tax in the hopes it gets better in the future "fine wine argument" or do you want to buy something thats just enough for the now that you can use whole now and not care for the future?

Without metrics the "performance" is highly speculative at best. But it distills it down to what the current state of GPUS is, that is until Intel shows up
