during Bethesda’s E3 press conference, Machine Games announced a new Wolfenstein game...the next Wolfenstein is called Youngblood...it’s set in the 1980's in Paris and stars series hero BJ Blazkowicz and love interest Anya’s twin daughters...it’s “a co-op experience” that you can also play solo...

Interesting. Hopefully they actually improve upon The New Colossus which turned out to be quite disappointing. I am also not convinced by an exclusively designed co-op experience, they always tend to compromise gameplay, level design or narrative to accommodate more than one playable protagonist.

Not sure I like how they moved it to the 80s. I hope they dont fook it up.

The premise doesn't look good. But it's the gameplay that counts I guess. We'll see.

I used to think so too until the last one which was more like a Saw movie than a Wolfenstein game.

Don't get me wrong I'm not against gore and violence but when it's as depressing and dark as the last game it made me not want to play and I quit halfway thru it.

I don't want to be all depressed after playing a video game.

this seemed like it had a blood dragon feel to it which i dig, and its coop so say no more.

Seriously? I guess that makes me a sociopath since I didn't find it "dark" or "depressing" at all. I love shooting, stabbing and strangling me some Nazis.
Now if your triggered by having to shoot your virtual dog or getting your head cut off, than maybe you should stick to games like Minecraft and KSP. Just saying...

I had this game on my wishlist it looks good but it's just another first person shooter.

I picked it up last week because I think the chicks add character to the game.

In fairness they did drag out the beheading of Caroline for too long, IMHO. The effect just wasn't needed, the point was made. The interaction with Engel and her daughter was stupid as well.

I'm cautious on this new title. NC was worse in every way than NO. I hated the contraptions.

If the game was full price I would never of bought it.... the fact Bethaseda launched it on Steam also helped I would of never purchased it on their launcher. Plus the fact the game is free with Nvidia cards also got me curious because I wouldn't want to buy a 2080ti just for this game. Usually the games they bundle turn out to be pretty good happened with Ghost Recon Wildlands anyway.

I am with you, I would never buy the ti just for this game. I do think the free copy is only for EVGA when you buy from them directly. I didn't get a voucher for either ti I purchased recently.

I will say I am looking forward to the coop in this game. Should be a hoot!

I didn't know that Arkane Studios assisted in the development of this game...

"Freedom is a big word for the game," says Andreas. "Freedom in how you progress, freedom in how you move through the levels and how you attack combat scenarios, freedom in how you upgrade your weapons and your power armour suit."...much of this new emphasis seems owed to Arkane's involvement. "When it comes to level design, Arkane has shown us the way, how to do it. We have learned a ton from Arkane in this."...

I didn't know this until today either. I already enjoyed the Machine Games (only) ones (TNC a little less than the others, but still good) but knowing Arkane is working on it as well just elevated it to must have. In fact, IMO Arkane, Machine, and id should all just merge into one studio. I guess on the surface they kind of are, but...

Do the copies offered from Nvidia promotions activate on Steam? Or are they on Bethesda's launcher?

You know the answer to this.

*Bethesda is asking for your digits*

Even the Steam version is requiring the launcher. So, yea....

It's seriously making me second guess my purchase. I haven't bought it yet...but I'm close to pulling the trigger. Unlike most, I didn't hate NC. It wasn't as good as the previous, but I loved how nuts it got.

Looks terrible to me...Of course im turned of by the story to begin with

The New Order was the only Wolfenstein game to ever have a decent-to-good story. The whole series is off the wall bonkers-crazy. The series was never really about the story. It was about the shooting and dark settings. I guess they have progressively been more in your face with their story-lines in recent times, but they're still enjoyable. You just have to turn off a certain part of your brain, and enjoy the actual game-play. I liked The New Colossus for this very reason. The story wasn't as good as TNO or even TOB, but the shooting... Spot On.

Hm, I thought the shooting in TNO was bad The sound too. It's a really well made game that plays, well, horribly :/

I am thinking the Riddick guys don't really like shooters. They're very talented but don't make the type of games id does. RTCW was basically Q3 with some minor changes and it plays fantastically. God I miss its creators :(

The new order had a story that really caught my interest...unfortunately the fps performance on AMD cards wasnt the best with that one. Give me a new order part2 and they can have my money! Heck i would pay them just to re-release a new vulkan improved version of new order

I absolutely loved it. Loved the weighty feel of everything. Loved dual pistols for a nearly "gun-fu" style of play. I loved the two energy weapons and I usually hate energy weapons. Loved the setting, the crazy and outlandish locations like the moon base. It plays differently than Doom or Quake I'll grant you. It doesn't have that pixel-precision shooting that those games do, but it felt nice in other ways.

Ugh. That's...disappointing. "Secondary" launchers aren't as bad though not great (ie Steam launching Uplay is still preferable to not selling on Steam at all etc), but it will be disappointing if you can't use normal Steam friends for co-op and the like. Pushing the Bethesda launcher is really discouraging me to purchase, along with seeming lower discounts available on sites like GMG and other legit vendors - another feature of recent alternative launchers (with Epic being the worst).

Otherwise I'd like to support the game (especially if Arkane studio had a role to play in development), but if even the hardly-available-via-vendor Steam keys don't avoid Bethesda Launcher... it makes for a difficult purchase.

A shooter where the only indicator that you're being hit is your hp going down, and where you can only guess you're hurting your enemies is not a nice shooter by any meaning of the word.

So come hell or high water if someone buys a Bethesda game anywhere we are using their launcher anyways. Thanks for that warning.

And yet, I had no problem playing through any of them. It's a single player story-driven shooter. It's not like it's Q3A and every last drop of sub-millisecond feedback is absolutely critical. If that's really what put you off from these games, I'm not quite sure what to say. I'm not sure screen flashes, noisy sounds, and floating damage count numbers would really add to the realism/immersion. :p If it's a multiplayer game, or an arena shooter, or something, I could see that being more important. With something like this, I'd rather not have arcade-style gaming conventions pulling me out of the setting. I never once thought about this while playing these, nor did I ever question whether I hit an enemy.

LOL, no. I hate floaty damage numbers. In a proper game you immediately know the situation without being told by an immersion breaking UI element. Most games use audio or visual feedback, often both. Hits have different sound if they do maximal damage. Plus a puff of blood spray or sparks if the enemy is metallic goes a long way to indicate that your hit actually counts for something. Half-Life came out in 1998 and did it perfectly. There is no excuse for any game that fails to it right since.

Can't say I ever had a problem telling when I hit an enemy in TNO, TOB, or TNC nor did I ever really have trouble finding where I was being shot from. Maybe its just you?

If it's just me why do other people agree with me? Or did they just like my post for sport?

I expect the gunplay to be solid, but the storyline and characters looks like a shit show. RTCW 2 would have been a better choice.

It's not just him. I had massive problems with their lack of visual/audio clues when taking/dealing damage. Seems like in the process of creating your immersion, they killed ours.

Bethesda should absolutely take the franchise from these fuckers and give it to someone with has interested in making SHOOTERS. Playing TNO was really annoying for the most part. Like legit annoyance with how lame the gameplay was. They simply hate the genre.

Arkane helping with the new one sounds even worse. They are doing the exact opposite of should be done to the series.
