This some scary shit. Of course this is going to used for nothing but to manipulate people to buy micro transactions. This needs to be illegal.

Haven’t bought anything EA in eons.Still can see how can trickledown or mutate

Going to need a TL;DW and sources. Can't stand how TheQuartering rambles on and on to extend his videos over the 10 minute mark.

Basically he's talking about a patent that describes an adaptive automatic difficulty adjustment system to keep people playing longer and spending more money on microtransactions. It tracks behavior and habits across games including spending habits.

None if it surprises me at all but tracking spending like that is slimy and I'm a little surprised they filed a patent since that's begging for a leak and the only thing they can patent is the specific process used which is far from the only way to do it.

Don't really care about these things, personally, I am kind of tired of how people just don't want to take any personal responsibility for their actions and choice of what to play. To break it down for you, pretty much all of you are manipulated psychologically every day by everything you encounter, it might be your significant other, it might be the car dealer, a commercial, a school teacher, it's your job to take responsibility for how you react to these situations and which ones you decide to engage in. Of all the things you interact with gaming is the one you have the most freedom to walk away from with the least consequences.

Had a discussion about Smoking with someone a few days ago that basically said the same things. I don't and have never smoked, but i've known at least from the late 70's and early 80's that it was bad for you. BUT you had and have people who smoked for years, sued the tobacco companies and won because the person said they didn't know it was dangerous to smoke even if they had access to that info?
I agree that a lot people should take more responsibility and stop blaming everything and everyone else for their lack of willpower.
As a post above said, people get bombarded every day with everything to either buy or use stuff or to give so people should learn to say no if it gets out of control.
Figure pretty soon, (If they haven't already) someone will sue the major video games companies because they couldn't stop gaming and it was the companies fault that they can't.

Yes there is a level of personal responsibility here but my main issue is what gaming is devolving into. The so called AAA games from companies like EA are all about trying to nickel and dime you for a sub par experience.

Gaming is devolving into what gamers subconsciously want. Some call it mind control but ultimately you were happy enough doing it to keep doing it. And its gaming no one was twisting your arm or holding a gun to your head. The bigger to me is why does society draw the arbitrary lines they draw? Everything you buy from a phone to a car to a house is a collection of subpar parts that generates the highest profit margin based on your psychological desires.

The main responsibility for the current state of gaming lies on the gamers themselves. I hope EA implements this and "turns more players into payers" and squeezes them piglets dry.

Rly hope they get a ban on loot boxes and p2w games, but money is strong in politics so it's not a easy doing. Im playing SWGOH a EA/CG game on my phone, the price and how they manipulate players and dictate the game is more in line with sith ideology. The competative aspect is ruled by discord chats and placements are prety much agreed on and the p2w meta prety much absolutely rule. And every time they introduce a new meta, if it can be beat, or if there is a counter they will either buff the new meta or nerf other heroes or often both. The arena wich i think is one of the most powerful aspect of the game as it is "competative". And prety much the biggest reason to spend, so while they talk about "fair" play it is not even close. U can have 20+++ ppl colluding against you to block you from top spots, just cause they coordinate, or ppl will always hit outsiders when they attack, ppl can literally coordinate attacks and drop u several ranks.

Just to give idea of price in SWGOH, u can buy 1 item for 60 usd. But u need a huge amount to get the hero to the higher gear, your money is literally worthless to them. It take roughly 3-4 months as f2p to raise one team to max power, that consist of 5 heroes. Maybe if u bought 10 u would get somewhere but, then it goes crazy :p Regardless i do enjoy it and i get they need to earn money from it but, the only player is EA in the end.

Ultimately the power is in the gamers hands but they only need a small minority of whales, so ultimately if ppl decide to protest by not buying there is always another idiot who will, regardless if it is p2w or expensive. so really it becomes hard, but for me the more i see of EA lately the less inclined im to buy anything from them. they have atleast 2 prisoners unfortunately its dice and bioware.

Better EA squatting this patent than the Chinese.
