Nvidia is preparing something SUPER

Better price / performance for high-end GPUs with hardware RT is lame?

Kind of, people shelled out a bunch of money for the 2000 series cards not even a year ago. With only a handful of games & Demos (Still) that support RT. I guess I was expecting more. We'll see how super the cost is.

Tree fiddy for a supped up RTX 2070 would be super.

As would $250 for GTX 2060 that the WCCF rumor states. Which leads me to believe this is more wishful thinking than fact.

Think like a business when assessing rumors. Just like I said AMD won't cut it's own margins significantly to start a price war, neither will NVidia.

If NVidia is looking to spoil AMDs party. They wouldn't finalize a price cut until pre-orders open for AMDs new card.

There is no point cutting your own margins when the competing product isn't even available. Just keep fat margins right until AMD is ready to ship, then cut your prices and spoil their launch.

So apparently, Nvidia is releasing faster "Cheaper" versions of the RTX 2060, 2070 and 2080 models. Probably to battle the performance of the upcoming RX5000 series from AMD.

Super.....Lame, but we'll see.
I think it was the tweaktown article that said we are looking at new versions with sooped up GDDR6. If thats all this is that is pretty weak. Didn't Nvidia do that with the 1080 and maybe the 1060?
11gbps version or something like that?

Faster GDDR6 would be very lame so I'd hope if they were releasing a new set of 2060-2080 Ti it would be without RTX cores but priced cheaper. I'd definitely be tempted to get a 2080 Ti w/out RTX that cost $700-800.

The 2080ti needs to be redesigned for some models so this relaunch could fix the artifacting with space invaders crash.

Cap'n (number)Crunch: Oops! All RT Cores edition: 256 RT cores and nothing else. It'll run the hell out of Quake 2 RTX!

edit: or if you rather, RTX Titan Over 9000 edition: dual TU102 on a single card- 9216 CUDA cores for $9999- when you see the power consumption you'll exclaim "THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE!"

0/10 sorry bro.

Ring of Elysium patch notes mention 2060 Ti and 2070 Ti.

2060 Ti is a mobile chip that was leaked last September, if I remember correctly. No idea about the 2070 Ti, but could be the same segment. The SUPER teaser could very well be pointing to new mobile hardware. The 2080 Max Q has been known about for a while, but I don't think it's in any laptops as of yet.

is it? amds radeon vii sure didnt help

The only reason the Radeon VII is priced the way it is is because of the BOM. If they get to the point where they have to cut the price drastically in light of Nvidia's cards, they will just discontinue the "home version" and leave it as the Instinct card it is.

Hopefully, with Navi, AMD has a little more price flexibility to undercut Nvidia as needed. I would think the general consensus is that nobody wants to pay $350 for "midrange" cards.

So NVidia teases "Super" before Computex, and then nothing at Computex, and so far, nothing at E3. I guess NVidia will now wait till July...

I'm still not sure about Nv dropping prices or introducing new models quite yet. The $50 price difference is not that big imho, and even so the 2070 still has RTX to play around with regardless of how people view that....

Why would Nv drop prices unless the 5070XT is a lot faster than the 2070?

They won't and aren't planning to. I haven't known nvidia to reduce pricing on their cards for quite some time.

They'll just boringly price these new faster cards at the same points as current equivalents, phasing them out. Might even be a few dollars cheaper depending on the competition at launch.

When the $400 Vega 56 beat the $350 GTX 1070, NVidia released the GTX 1070 Ti at $450, never changed the 1070 price.

Navi Pro vs 2060 looks a lot like this...

They just did it during the Pascal generation when they launched the 1070Ti in response to Vega. The 1070 dropped $50, the 1080 dropped $100 (or $150 for the Founders Edition cards).

So it isn't outside of normal for Nvidia to make price adjustments in light of competition and in light of new cards in their lineup.

The 1070 "FE" price was $449 and after it was $399...just saying...

The 1070Ti "FE" slotted in at the old $449 price point of the 1070.

That isn't the way it happened... Just saying...

Price of 1070 was already lowered months before Vega came to market, 1070 Ti released months after.

Google searching yields:

Mar 2017: NVidia cut prices of 1070 (to $350)
Aug 2017: Vega 64 and Vega 56 release
Nov 2017: GTX 1070 Ti release.

NVidia responded with performance, not a price cut.

If you believe that Nvidia just dropped the price because of random good will to customers, I have a bridge to sell you.
