WCCFTECH snapped some pics of the Gigabyte X499 motherboards at Computex. These are for the next-generation Core X HEDT CPU lineup. There are tons of information on the CPUs and motherboards including plenty of pics in the article.

Is it just me or is that preinstalled block hideous? Plus appears to be blocking some ram slots?

GIGABYTE's design game looks to be on point. I'm really liking the look of that Waterforce motherboard. The only reason why one of these wouldn't end up in my personal machine would be due to Intel's CPU pricing in the HEDT market. I don't want to have to spend more than a grand just to enable all of my PCIe lanes.

Might be the angle. I actually like the look of the block minus the green tint.

Its not X499 or X299G
X499 question was denied by GB when asked at comptex.
But i highly propose Intel would come out with something new before AMD in enthusiast market. Meanwhile AMD is waiting Intel’s refresh on the same to introduce their new generation of threadripper. Amd might come out with x499 because a refresh is a must for the PCI Gen4 application.

P.S Intel will refresh its X series cpu this fall but they delivered not a word on its chipset.

Those aren't TR4 sockets. The Designare is actually marked X299, so they are refreshes or additional Intel HEDT products.
