CDW Outlet Finds

A couple of B250M motherboards for $32 when even B&H has it for almost $80:

Antec 302 case for $35 when it is usually $75+:

MSI GS65 gaming laptop for $1443 that's usually $1900+:
https://www.cdw.com/product/msi-gs65-15.6in-i7-8750-512-32-w10p/5542252?pfm=srh

Another GS65 with 1TB vs 512GB for $1765 (probably will drop to the other one's price) that's usually $2000+:
https://www.cdw.com/product/msi-gs65-15.6in-i7-8750h-1-32-w10p/5572920?pfm=srh

GTX 1050 2GB SC for $114 when the same card is $170+ elsewhere. Probably has one more drop in it too:

https://www.cdw.com/product/evga-geforce-gtx-1050-2gb-sc-gaming/5563062?pfm=srh

RTX 2060 XC 6GB for $292 when it's $350+ anywhere else you look. And I know this one probably has one more drop in it too:
https://www.cdw.com/product/evga-geforce-rtx-2060-xc-6gb-gddr6/5565730?pfm=srh

Fortigate 80E 14-port enterprise grade router for $207. This is a stupid cheap price since this thing is usually $700+, but enterprise grade routers a lot of times won't function without a support contract in place. I haven't dealt with Fortigate devices to confirm if this is the case with them, but do your homework. A lot of times they'll work fine, just no support:
https://www.cdw.com/product/fortinet-fg-80e-14pt-gbe-rj45-bstk/5513799?pfm=srh

Watchguard Firebox M270 enterprise grade router for $289 when it's usually ~$600. I feel this will drop one more time, but that price would seem absurd for so much power I can't fully believe it. We actually have the baby brother of this unit--the M200--that we got right here in the outlet a few years ago. It's specs are off the chart impressive and even feeding it 2 isp connections (100/10 and 500/50), almost 100 dhcp devices, 2x 24x7 IPsec VPN tunnels to other sites, and much more, the cpu never even hits 1% utilization and has uptimes in the years. And the M270 is even more powerful. The M270 is a High Availability unit so it technically requires an identical existing Watchguard product to have support, but every function that we've used on our M200 (multi-wan, Ipsec tunnels, etc) is actually built-in and doesn't require any support to function. This is a rackable unit and should come with the ears like our M200 did, and it isn't a quiet little router you put on a desk as it has fans. But if you want the solid heart of a site that's going to be put into a telecom/computer room, this is your guy:
https://www.cdw.com/product/watchguard-fb-m270-ha-w-1yr-std-bst/5535966?pfm=srh

Here's a comparison chart with the M200 we currently have. Watchguard specs are...how do I put it...optimistic sometimes. I put our old xtm22w in the comparison chart so you can what the real-world performance can be. The xtm22w topped out at 35Mbps wan-lan with no filters or anything running. Our M200 has hit 600Mbps+ wan-lan in the same configuration without even hitting 1% of cpu use. (I have almost no doubt that it can hit 1Gbps, but can't test it.) Some food for thought on what the 'true' performance of the M270 would be:
https://www.watchguard.com/wgrd-products/appliances-compare/26071/3025/222

A bit more than I usually go into on a product, but the M200 solved soooo many problems for us with uptime, performance, and reliability that I had to give the M270 a shout-out. :D

And if you need moar power than the M270 (like a 10Gbit isp service), there are these M470s in the outlet for $1257 when they are usually $3300+. (These are not HA, but regular units with 1 year of security suite included.):

https://www.cdw.com/product/watchguard-m470-1y-bsc-sec-ste-bs/5526593?pfm=srh

And the specs make our M200 look like a toy:
https://www.watchguard.com/wgrd-products/appliances-compare/15021/3025

Okay, enough for today. If anyone is looking for anything specific, just post and I'll see what's the cheapest I can find it. :D

I liked the $378.38 I paid for my STRIX A8G 2070 at Newegg during the open box sale. :p

Just ran across this WD Blue 1TB m.2 SSD for $92--not much of a savings right now, but keep your eye on it: ;)

This WD Black 6TB on the other hand is pretty nice at $143, and will probably drop at least once more:

I have a sas enclosure so I'd love to snag these....i have 3 * 12, but 10*12 would be much better :)

like this
ah they are SAS drives and not SATA. 250 for 12TB o_O
Yep, these are sas, so the real enterprise deal of drives. Generally I've found sas drives to be much more reliable and durable than any sata variant except the enterprise ones with similar specs. And you won't find sata in 10 and 15k variants either.

yea. My Norco is SATA so I am stuck with that :D. I would have love to go SAS route but what I have was already too expensive hahha

I use both types - SATA and sas. Never on the same controller nor in the same array. I exclusively use enterprise variants of SATA drives, and they all perform well.
That's a good point about not keeping mixed types on the same controller or array. Little details like that prevent some goofy hard to diagnose problems down the road. (y)

Yep, always good quantities of this stuff (3tb <$25 and 4TB <$35):
https://forums.servethehome.com/ind...es-p3605-3tb-4tb-s9300-etc.24612/#post-228773
I know - I *know* I shouldn't. But I'm considering getting a bunch of the 4tb drives to fill a chassis. Here's my trouble: I have two chassis: 12- and 16-bay. Both have SAS backplanes. The 16 bay is fully populated with 4tb Seagate constellations. The 12-bay has 6 4tb constellations, and 6 1tb constellations - ALL of which are SATA.

My zpool is made of a single vdev 16 drives wide in ZFS2.

So I've got some choices. I can fill out the chassis with 4tb SATA drives and use that as a vdev (disparate drive count, but it'd probably be ok), or the same but mount 4 more drives inside the chassis for total of 16 for a matched in size vdev. Or run the 6 SATA drives in a vdev and fill out the chassis with SAS drives with another vdev. Not a fan of that so much.

Or replace all the drives with either 12 or 16 SAS drives, but that's a PITA in it's own right.

*Sigh*

So when it comes to upgrades, what I always look at is the 'opportunity cost' of upgrades. Like I don't think much of a processor upgrade since those are very quick and have immediate returns, but I think through storage upgrades very meticulously especially with live data. :)

i love you
imma order a 2060 methinks
lol, If I wasn't a dude...oh and married--forgot that one, haha.

It's at a nice discount now, and it will come down even more. Problem is now that it's on people's radar, it will get swooped up even if you don't get it. ;)

It was like a year ago. I was worried they'd die as they came with 25k-40k power on hours. Every single one is still working.....
It's amazing how long well-built hard drives will last. (y) On the flip side, it's amazing how quickly the cheap stuff can fail.

Dangit, I almost...ALMOST...ordered some of the 4tb drives but then caught that they were 4tb when reviewing the specs. If they were SATA, I'd take that gamble...
All that stuff is SAS! No sata stuff in that link friend. :(

6TB down to 113!!!

13 dollars shipping. Didn't someone say you can do local pick up or is there away to get free shipping?

EDIT: SamirD is there any indication of how many in stock they have or is it a single item per page?
Looks like it's gone now. :( You can do a will call pick up at their location in Vernon Hills, IL to avoid shipping--and the order is ready within an hour. (y)

The only way to know how many they have in stock per cdw part number is to call and ask--typically it is only one per cdw part number, but there can be multiples in my experience on the last 2 orders. :D

This 4TB Seagate Barracuda has probably hit its bottom at $46 and is well below the normal price of $80-something:
