The Ryzen 3000 series and it looks very promising, now I only cared about a 12c24t part with higher clocks and better IPC and it looks like I'm going to get what i want, well mostly as 3.8GHz base and 4.6GHz boost in nothing to gawk at also there with be the architecture updates too like increased FPU capability infinity fabric 2, higher memory clocks, and the X570 chipset its self coupled with the possibility of backwards compatibility with older motherboards.....

Like I said I only ever cared about the 12c24t part the 16c32t would be nice but I feel its most likely doing to be a lower clock then the 12c and the core boost with the clock boost is all want, IPC and everything else is just gravy on top.
So I will be most likely doing a full build from the MOBD up and passing my current MOBD, CPU and MEM on to my brothers ageing 3rd Gen i7 system maybe I will get a new NVME too but thats about it, same case and everything else.

So what you guys thinking now we have some real numbers? looking to do a side grade, hoping for faster single core parts, holding out for the 16c32t part or simply don't care about Zen 2

anyway if everything works out and looks good it will be a nice boost in performance, still will need to get reviews to see how it stacks up in real word app/games not just synthetic benches but things look promising.

I am going to wait until the dust settles that I know what kind of frequency the top end product has and I would like to stay on X370 as well so I can buy AM5 motherboard with DDR5 next year :) .

Hoping to upgrade to a new machine this year. Zen 2 looks like a certainty (though only 6 or 8 core).

Should be a nice performance boost over my C2Q. :D

Will stick with my 1600 until some extensive tests are done, which I'm sure they'll be flying out asap. Really looking forward to X570 boards though, can't get enough of those M2 slots.

Not sure there is value in the 12 cores on Am4. May need good X570 motherboeard + expensive CPU + good RAM.
Threadripper 1950x 16 cores + lower cost X399 + standard RAM but quad channel will be better. Not saying it will be better in gaming but on something using all the 12 cores or more, it will.
The unique 12 cores Ryzen 3000 is way too expensive for its value. I suppose AMD is hoping no to sale many.
I bet AMd is turned on bringing all the best chiplets to their Epyc solution. The remainder for Desktop.

I'm in for a 6/12 or 8/16 to replace my 1800x. Still deciding on a new MB or not. I don't currently have any m 2 drives and only one GPU.

Which model will depend on clock speeds

The 12 core is the same TDP as the current R7 2700X , the only cpu that needs a new motherboard is 16c32t.

I hear ya. My current board only has 1 M2 slot, but these cheap Inland 1tb drives makes the allure of a SATA-less case that much more tempting.

They way I look at it is do I need PCIE 4? I prolly do not need it. Then how long is the next upgrade path that does hold extra features that will improve performance one way or another, decided that DDR5 is worth upgrading to because of the bandwidth.

The value I deem to get out of getting the latest AM4 motherboard vs the next AM5 is that AM5 is going to last a good deal longer....

I will be looking at either the 6c12t or the 8c16t 60-some TDP part to replace my fx8320. Depending on my earnings. Eventually, if the performance is better, i'd upgade my gtx 1060 6gb with NAVI.

Maybe. $500 for a CPU is still a bit steep, not to mention requiring a 570 board to realistically OC it. But I like that the option is there.

Need to upgrade in the next few months, so the 12c looks very promising.

Recently built a 1600 system to play around with. Overall a good experience, but I'll probably wait for b550 boards before jumping up to zen 2.

The release ended up being quite disappointing so it seems I'll be holding on to my [email protected] for a while more.

Same for me, would have upgraded to a 16 core with 4.8 boost, but will be sticking with my 3930k at 4.6 till the next threadripper comes out. Did you do the bios patch and drop a bootable m.2 pcie in yours?

just built a great x470 with 2700x , love it . Maybe a vidcard from AMD if the price is right

im gonna shake some of my old amd stuff so i can grab some of the new stuff... and keep it moving...

Didn't bother as I don't do anyting that would benefit compared to a standard SSD. It's depressing to have a SEVEN years old CPU and barely have a reason to upgrade.

8/16@5 Ghz (or 12/12, which would be even better) stock sustained all core boost with the lastest IPC improvements is the minimum upgrade path as I see it.

Can you put a link to the information where you got this because it is plainly wrong. Look at the TDP for the 12 core (Ryzen 9 3900X 12/24 3.8 / 4.6 70MB 40 $ 499)it is rated 105Watt that is the same as R7 2700x and thus the same motherboards will work when you have a 2700x overclocked ......

I'll probably get the 12 core but I was really excited for the 16 core that was rumored. It will suck if they release it later down the line after yields improve, unless they are holding it back to protect Threadripper.

I really wanted to believe the leaks, but they did seem too good to be true. I was all about that 12c, but am reassessing. $500 for 12c/24t is still a steal compared to Intel's current flagship processor, but I don't know that ever was ready to spend that much on the CPU alone when I'll also need a new mobo and waterblock.

A sever brown smoked my 4790k 4.8Ghz rig about 8 months ago, only thing that survived was a GTX 780 & my NVMe drive. Slapped an old i5-750 into the case and have been on it since. Was looking at Intel vs. AMD with how much success they've had with Ryzen and I was considering a 2700x build but the IPC performance was not on par and just overall turned me off. Procrastination has stuck me with the old i5-750 build.

Fast forward 8 months to now and this thing is just too...slow, lacking features - no usb 3.0 just not what my rig used to be. What a time to be in need of a build with Zen2 coming up - guess I can hold off a bit longer. Was going to fire off a i7-9700k build till I checked out what AMD was up to. Looks promising, may very well be my next rig.

I've been back on Intel since Sandy Bridge i5. Came from the steaming turd of Bulldozer after being an devout AMD builder for years. It's good to see Zen2 could approach what the rumors foretold. I was thinking of a 6 core unit, but after some recent reviews, and ALL the consoles being 8 core, I think my next build is going to be a 3700x. More and more games are being optimized for 8 threads.

That 16c/32t is coming ....AMD demo'd it behind the scenes according to "Brian from Yes Tech City" via WTF tech... Out performs the Intel flagship 18 core.

Those of you on x79 claiming this is a disappointment and will stay on an an outdated platform that is 20-35% slower clock for clock (depending on the application) amuse me. If it were an Intel announcement of a 12c/24t mainstream SKU announcement you would be willing to pay then $800+, let alone $499.

If someone who has actually talked with MSI board reps and has heard directly from them that high end R3 will *not* be supported on their b350/b370 due to the *very* high power draw ( for the design two years ago), I'll go with that.

That is fair but it only applies to MSI then :)

wait a min now... im not spending 800+ for any cpu...all i do is bullshit around and maybe game a little... i hold no alligence too none of these goons.. u got the stuff when im ready to buy? and the shits priced right? im in.... if not, i take flight and spend my ends on some other bullshit...

I didn't quote you since I wasn't directing what I said to you in its entirety. The fact of x79 being long since eclipsed does apply, but if you just game a little bit, then you can get by with a potato if you aren't picky about settings.

This forum is going to o quickly go the way of WTFtech's comment section I fear. There are already plenty of signs of this sadly.

didnt direct at you aswell bud.. just saying i like new things from time to time if the prices is right ..

We used to e a forum of die hard enthusiasts but now it's just regular casual people

That's where it's gone and going and that's wccftech exactly.

I've been a member for a long time and I have see these forums evolve into a mainstream is the norm, enthusiast is the extreme fringe. Quite a change. I still stick around because I believe we still have couple remaining ultra enthusiasts.

Now on topic:

For me 12 cores at 500 is alot to swallow. I like the rumored 399 better. I was adamant about getting that model untill the pricing reveal.

I have a 2950x so I may just get another 6 or 8 core part for my other PC.

This doesnt mean I'm not an enthusiast but for an extra side machine, halo products are not necessary. Though microcenter may have some incredible deals on the new chips. Well see.

I'm waiting for gaming benchmarks. If it's signifcantly faster than my I7-4770k then...maybe :)

I am. I did not win a silicon lottery with my 1600, and both single thread and multithreaded performance boosts seem to be quite significant.

Just a video of cinebench running. Not important. No scores generated in the clip.

Is that information available anywhere in non-twitchclip format? I'm on a single bar of 3G in BFE today. XD

Essentially it was Cinebench with the 9700K on the left still rendering with the 3700X on the right already done, presenters chuckling about trying to move on to the next segment but the 9700K wasn't finished.
