Not particularly interested in this one as I prefer the ATX sized boards, but for the sake of curiosity, will these fit cases that are 'ITX' but not 'MATX'?

Based on a quick read, Mini DTX is slightly larger than ITX.

Mini-DTX should fit any Micro-ATX case, but might have clearance issues with some Mini-ITX cases...
 
Looking forward to the Formula version, knowing they have EK waterblocks on them already saves me time.
 
The draw of Crosshair 7 for me was both nvme drives direct to CPU and 4 ram slots.

I'll look forward to sff extreme builds as entertainment.

Only two RAM slots on the Impact board...

Apparently, with two sticks of RAM, the memory subsystem will support 3200, but if you go to four sticks of RAM, the built-in memory support drops down to 2933...?

Unless ASRock comes out with a nice Enthusiast DTX board, the Impact is the one I am going to go for...

What would make "a nice Enthusiast DTX board", in my eyes...?

Take the ASUS DTX board, strip the DAC & the DIMM.2 slot...
Have one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot in the first position & one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot in the second position...
Make the ASRock DTX board "Thunderbolt 3 Ready"...
Include a unique AIC (Add In Card), which has two M.2 NVMe slots & a TB3 port...

Drop this theoretical ASRock board into a NCASE M1 with a 3900X 12C/24T CPU & a Radeon 5700 GPU...
 
64gb+ content creation workloads is where HEDT is the only option if someone is making $.

I've seen too many simpler editing jobs eating 16gb-32gb across 3 nvme drives....much less a front line hard core content creation box.
 
Any ITX case with two backplate slots for a GPU will take this "Mini-DTX" board, only the truly small single-slot cases will not. Its smaller than the old shuttle DTX boards from a billion years ago, if anyone remembers from the early days when SFF basically meant Shuttle Form Factor.

That said, I am eyeballing the Asrock board myself, because thunderbolt n stuff. They also went with LGA 115x bracket holes which is an interesting way to maximize usable board space, all aftermarket coolers worth buying support both anyways.
 
It's got two fans over the vrm... that's hot...

yeh, was just trying to be punny. They had a similar design for some intel boards.
 
I think I am going mATX or DTX on my x570 build. I have to wait and see all the x570 boards are released & at this point it is information overload. But my pocketbook is ready.

There is a whopping total of one mATX X570 motherboard (the sub-par ASRock X570M Pro4), and ASUS online support feels the cost & release date for the C8I is a matter of National Security...

I am hoping it coincides with a water-cooled Sapphire Toxic Navi gpu...!

That's the million dollar question. I'm quite interested in this mobo for my NCase M1 but not holding my breath it drops anytime soon.

It absolutely can be. If you can't figure out how to do it, you aren't being imaginative enough. It would be very expensive to do but grab a crap ton of PCIe Gen 4.0 SSD's and its easy. RAID them together and benchmark them. That will do it. That said, it isn't something you can easily do in the real world, and it won't be done with graphics cards anytime soon.
 
Let's be clear : this is a very poor design made by Asus.
Mini-DTX are supposed to have 2 PCIe slots and able to receive 2 standard cards. AND of course could very will have several M.2 slots.
So this board was probably supposed to be a mini-ITX but Asus couldn't handle all the chips of the X570 plus the cooling, so Asus made it mini-DTX.
The mini-DTX cases (and mini-ITX cases are many to be mini-DTX in fact) have 2 brackets for PCIe cards.
In this case a real mini-DTX x570 motherboard should include 2 PCIe x16 slots. What they will be for, as many GPU have a thickness of 2 slots ? For those GPU that are 1 bracket thick (there are plenty and especially the professionnal ones).

So get a real mini-ITX with M.2 slots for your SSD/optane.

If anyone still follows this, I can confirm it does fit a DRP4 without blocking the m.2 riser. The aesthetics of these match rather nicely.

It might even fit a D15S or regular D15, but didn't have an unattached one sitting around to be sure.

$50? Probably $100 or more. There are way too many quality X470 boards out there to be charging $400 for X570.
