Well, this is maybe my 20th or 30th trade on hardfourm and I ran into someone that has NO business selling things.

I don't believe this guy is a criminal or a thief, but I think he is stupid, rude, belligerent, and UNFIT TO SELL ONLINE!

I got a motherboard and CPU in the mail from this seller. When I got the motherboard and CPU, everything looks really clean, good, promising.

I tried the motherboard and it would not accept any ram in slot C1, even when I tried two diffrent ram kits I had tested working in other systems.

THe syytem would accept 24gb in 3 slots, but if you try to add a ram slot ot c1, it will SUBTRACT the ram no matter what.

I tried this with MULTIPLE mmemory kits that I have known to work with a Gigabyte Gaming 5 X99 I actually purchased from antoher [H][ardfourm member,

I didnt work with this X99 motherboard.

I opened a paypal dispoute with a SUPER friedly message- lettign him know what was up,. A paypal dispute ALWAYS needs to be opened because I gotta send it back anyways, so why not open it asap?

HERES WHY I DONT THINK THIS SELLER SHOULD BE ALLOWED ON WEBSITE:

I have access to an ebay account with 6200 postive feedback and can message him on that account-

I have 100% heatware.

I have 100% reddit trades.

NO ONE has complaiend about me returning bricks in the mail.

THERE IS ZERO indication that he's being scammed- just a VERY reputable guy wuith a LOT of reputation and refrences that says that he wants to return something.

And this guys response was TOTALLY innaportiate, right into sweraing, name calling, threats.

He shoudln't be allowed to sell things, everyone sells bad stuff 2% of the time by accident- the video card you sold has 1/8 bad HDMI ports- how could you know? even if you test all 8 what if the HDMI port is interrminttent? Etc.

Returns are a part of buying and selling online and this seller is not mature enough to handle it.

Just because he sint a criminal or a thief, doesnt mean you cant do whatever you want. You cant go push over grandma on the sidewalk then say 'didnt steal nothing man'- this guy is a menance, and you dont need to steal anything to be a menance

ANyways, I dont think this guy is a thief so I messaged him last nigth and said you know, 23 horus to cool down before I make a post here.

And what does he do? Reports me

For the sake of troubleshooting all of the components, did you try this new CPU and your memory in your Gigabyte X99? Did you try the CPU from the Gigabyte X99 board along with your memory in this one to make sure it was this new board that was having issues?

As I said in the other thread I sold this guy a pristine i7-5820K, Asus X99-A in perfect working order on May 14. The board was used with a 16gb kit 4x4 from the boards qualified memory list populated in dim slots A1, B1, D1, C1 and it performed without issue. As has been pointed out this guy has done the same thing on reddit. I believe he knows full well by filing the dispute, without notice, I would be forced to refund based on his bogus story about bad dim slot C1. He admitted this in the replies to the thread he posted. Paypal even says they have no way of guaranteeing that i'll ever receive my merchandise back.

Your history says otherwise here. Multiple defective products you have been selling. I doubt anyone will take you seriously.

Honestly, I'm not a fan of how either one of you is behaving. Also that thread is not proof mothman sold something defective, it could be user error, just like it could be user error here as well, but that's the nature of things when dealing with strangers.

That was opened first due to the buyer's actions. I agree with him in principle here. Buyer should have communicated first then opened a dispute if a resolution wasn't reached through that channel. Jumping straight to a dispute is what you do on eBay, not a forum community of which you're supposed to be contributing member.

Well, normally for you to return something, you have to open a dispute anyways. But he should have at least discussed it with him. Either way, the seller flat out acted immature and not willing to work with him and this isn't the only time the seller has sold something bad.

The only other time he's had a problem here (that I'm aware of anyway) we don't actually know if he sold something bad, and in all likelihood he didn't.

It's his response when something comes up that is the problem. In this case, it may be justifiable. New member, no communication, paypal's reputation for screwing sellers... I'd be pissed too.

Nice retaliation thread. No need to start another thread to state your side of the story. I have bought several things from mothman and he has been nothing but great to deal with. Things get achieved when you talk civil and politely not rolling in the mud. I believe contacting the seller before starting a dispute with paypal is the best way to handle things.

I think you mean the seller. OP is the buyer. And one time two years ago is not several. Seems like you have an axe to grind.
Nope, I didn't even know it was him till I went back and looked at posts. I am just stating the obvious with this guy. He attacks people that don't agree with him. Look at his previous history and the screen shots on the PMs he threatens people with.

Gentlemen,

I need all parties in this thread to stop talking about other threads.

To OP and mothman:

Stick to the facts and only the facts.

OP: In my personal experience, best practice is to PM the seller first before hitting the Paypal dispute button. That is the "nuclear option" as they say, and you'll get farther with a little honey than you will with a lot of stick in most cases.

Mothman: Handle this case within Paypal's house and their rules. [H] has no bearing or control over the transaction. But I suggest you put on your "lawyer voice" when disputing a return.

As Crosshairs stated, if you guys cannot work this out professionally, then both of you are likely to receive a time out.

For any outside forum member, stop posting about 2 year old threads. 2 years is enough time to be over it, and not short enough of a time for this to be a "several times in the past."

Opening a dispute without communications is bad etiquette in eBay.

PP dispute does not need to be opened for any resolution. PP encourages both parties to mutually resolve the issue first. A dispute is opened when both parties cannot resolve an issue and PP steps in.

eBay is bad etiquette. :D

Look how I treat guys that are polite and friendly ON HARD FOURM!

They sell me shit that is broken, I say you know what, It's probally worth at least what I paid even broken, keep the partial refund you are offering.

This message was sent YESTERDAY- THE SAME DAY THAT THIS "MOTHMAN" WAS FUMING AND RAVING ABOUT HOW HE WAS GOING TO SCREW ME FOR 250$ AND I COULDTN HAVE A REFUND! LOL! :D

This guy computergeek offered to send a brand new $75 RGB case to my house for4 FREE to replace the damaged in shipment case from the PC I bought, and I said no thanks man, keep the money.

Yeah, I know mya ddress in there. If you want show up and you can have a beer and hot dog for free.

THis is why I went STRAIGBHT TO PAYPAL for mothman:

https://imgur.com/a/vPO1ZCk

Look how he talks to me,. look how he treats me.

I know it is bad etiquite to go straight to paypal but this guy is an agressive bully and sending me broken stuff !

OP being rude is not against the rules.

Stick to the facts as they pertain to the dispute...someone being rude to you has nothing to do with this.

I guess I'm having trouble understanding why you ended up making the purchase after the PM exchange before the sale.

SO after that exchange I was like 'This is the biggest asshole in the world' but then he said 'oh I have 250 heatware' and I was like ok, hes an asshole, but he seems HONEST.

My biggest concern is gettign BROKEN SHIT IN THE MAIL, not some guy being rude in PMs.

Whelp!

I guess I'm having trouble understanding why you ended up making the purchase after the PM exchange before the sale.

Anyways after I saw the heatware profile I foolishly forgot to search the fourms to see the other various complaints levied againt motherman over the years.... stupid.

But I do so much trades here, I sort of view hardfoyurm as this place FREE from scamemrs and stuff so im pretty relaxed... bits you in the ass sometiems!

I've bought from Mothman before and had no issues. But after threads like these I'm thinking twice. Attitude is important.

Yeah, it was a lot wasnt it?

My deal is that I have a friend of mine who speaks Maderian Chinese and he can sell i7 5820k for $150 to Chinese customers of his who need it for Cyber Cafes where they charge chiense teenagers by the hour to play fortnite.

So the plan was to ship him the CPU and then I would have paid $115 ish for a $200 mothetrboard and a $15 SSD. What a deal right?

Didn't work out, sadly. I wanted to keep that motherboard and own it for half price.

I can take a LOT OF ABUSE to save $100, beause I used to make sandwhichs for $7 an hour dealing with this aittude all the time, I am use to abuse from vendors on hardfoumr like an abused dog whimpering in the corner waiting for the next grahics card with a warped bracket, or motherboard with bad memory slot to come in the mail

without reading any of the other comments on this thread, I think you're a bit of a twat for not contacting him first. You went right to dispute, which is what most scammers do. Your contact afterwards is helpful, but in the end I wouldn't really be interested in discussing it with you either.

If you bothered to spend 30 seconds to read the thread youll notice that every other time I message the seller first

But I was 100% sure this guy would not copperate based on his messages at the start.

I always show 10 times the courtsey my vendors show me, I was shown zero so I opened a dispute asap.

In fairness, I had one "bad" transaction with mothman involving a description where the wrong board revision was listed. He responded promptly and we worked out a solution amicably.

I've also had several flawless transactions with him.

Seems like all the threads about people getting scammed on ebay scared the seller. All in all, both parties could have done things differently and I think at this point it's still possible to resolve this peacefully.
Both members are posting so please work it out in PM :) and let's move on. No need to shame anyone over this.

You opened a dispute w/out first talking with him to troubleshoot the issue? What were the terms of his sale? Jumping to a dispute is a shit way to do business and I know for sure I won't ever sell to you in the future. Welcome to my bad buyer list.

P.S. calling him out like this is also shitty of you. That said, both of you seem like crappy people to deal with so both are added to my list to avoid.

Ok, since there's a ton of he-said she-said and people not posting any pertinent details, I'm going to post the facts, as they have been presented:

1. Mothman sells MyNameIsAlex a motherboard.
2. MyNameIsAlex determines motherboard is unstable with 4 sticks of RAM
3. MyNameIsAlex immediately opens up Paypal dispute with Mothman.
4. Mothman has issue with the dispute as he tested motherboard already, and was not given the opportunity to make MyNameIsAlex whole before a dispute was opened.
5. Unkind words have been exchanged by both parties via PM.
6. MyNameIsAlex opens up public complaint.
7. All parties warned to stick to facts and resolve dispute via Paypal.
8. MyNameIsAlex continues to post how upset he is but no additional details showing that Mothman is scamming him.

As far as I'm concerned, this whole thing is petty. Both parties seem to be unpleasant to deal with, however there's no evidence of any kind of scamming on either side. Both parties have obviously been communicative with each other.

Let me be clear: Being unpleasant to deal with is not against FS/FT rules. However, it could affect other poster's personal feelings on wanting to deal with you in the future.

I'm closing this thread unless MyNameIsAlex can actually provide me any concrete evidence that Mothman is scamming him. Please do not re-open any public threads on this matter with anything less than proof that a scam took place.
