The other (of same) got shoehorned into a 1953 style Karlson K15.
Too much woodwork and not really big enough for this cone's VAS.
This time just go simple, lightweight. My bass doesn't even use the
lowest notes. For music, anything under 40Hz seems pointless.

Rubbish is a two man lift that has trouble with doors yet still isn't big enough to do an 18" driver justice.
Been there, done that. Not going that road again, though long ago I had elaborate plans drawn to do so.
A plain small box will be easier to carry and still more bass than needed to keep up with a live drummer.
Any club you play is going to have thier own subs, ask you to turn down, so why bother?

Really, bass guitar's low E is 41Hz. Drop D only 36Hz. 16Hz makes no sense for Heavy Acid Spacegoth.
Have already done damage to buildings with less than 300W in the unoptimized Karlson that never went
as low as the loudspeaker was theoretically capable. For theater rumble that might be important but isn't
music, just place one of them thumpers under your seat. Instant brown note.

The UM is 10x less power effiicient. So you need 3,000W and thick cables to do the same damage.
UM is only rated for 1000W, so never going to be loud as the less expensive Sigma for all its might.
We get carried away with one figure of merit and forget that it all has to work together as a system.

some day to prove a point, maybe. But weighty internal folds seem extremely unsuited for travel.

The enclosure will do just fine with the um18, as has been proven many times. It's about 11 cubic feet net internal volume.

Assuming nothing in music is below 36hz is naive just because of a bass guitar. Get out with that nonsense. It's not like these are being used just for music either, they see HT duty where LFE tracks go down very low as well.

Sure, horns are more efficient, but they're giving up octaves of low end response.

This was mic'd in room. Can't remember the track, but was likely something from kmfdm or pendulum. The subs in question are tuned around 14hz and highpassed, so that's visible in the response.

Still, nothing about this is a deal. These are normal prices.
