In News That We've All Been Waiting For - More Star Wars Movies

* Episode 12: The Ewok Porg Wars.

I'd pay good money to see those two kill each other off.

This reminds me of that scene in Signs when Mel Gibson yells at that crying kid to eat his god damn dinner.

You don't want more Star Wars? Well, you'll get more and you'll like it! - Disney

I think Disney is aware that the MCU train is going to end sooner than later. So, it's trying to replace that with Star Wars. Bad move.

Yeah.. DIsney did say, a year or so ago, they have a new, non-skywalker-line, of starwars trilogies in the hopper. Different part of the galaxy and/or time..

Lol... you really think the MCU train is going to end soon? Definitely not.

Also, reading the article in the OP I couldn't help but wonder who gives a damn about Avatar anymore... it's very strange that sequels have been talked about for years. I mean Avatar came out 10 years ago now and I am surprised that anybody wanted or felt a need for sequels.

I just hope they might actually find a writer worth a damn, and make Star Wars great again.

I used to be the biggest Star Wars nerd, and now I am completely the old bitter Star Wars fan. My favorite childhood franchise has been fucked in every position possible and I have no interest in the movies anymore other than at this point to see how this shit trilogy comes to an end this year. For me it's all about the Monsterverse films now... Godzilla, Kong, and those. I've been rewatching all the old TOHO Godzilla movies lately and I can't help but love those now more than Star Wars. How times change.

Disney hired David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Game of Thrones writers, to do some Star Wars movies. It's not confirmed but believed it is for this trilogy.

Seen rumors of it taking place in the Knight of the Old Republic timeline. I doubt it but that would be awesome. Completely remove it from Skywalkers, Solo, Yoda and more.

Decent movie. Made a TON of money (still #1, I believe). I can see one, maybe two sequels. I think they are going overboard. It's just too much, been too long, and just wasn't a super awesome movie.

Star Wars - I REALLY hope they find someone that can take charge and get some great writing in place and make them great again.

Every bubble bursts...every one. It's a matter of when, not if. I do think now that Endgame has come, we'll see the slow decline. You can only dangle a carrot for so long until the person admits defeat.

It's cheaper to make them all at once than to do it separately. I don't think any of them are going to be any good.

Hopefully taking a few years means it will give them more time to develop a real plan. This current trilogy has been rushed into and rushed along and clearly no one had any clue what they wanted to with it or the story they wanted to tell. I’m hoping this is the trilogy from D&D and not Rian Johnson.

Wait, fucking Disney has the rights to Avatar now?

I was counting on the new Avatar movies. Alita: Battle Angel was the best movie I've seen in quite a while. In Cameron I trust but at this pace I am going to die of old age before he delivers again

Also mentioned in TFA: Eight release dates for untitled MCU movies. So all eight MCU movies before the first SW movie. Easy to see where Disney priorities are. Given the fan reception and box office takes, easy to see why.

All the hints are Old Republic era in some shape or form. Whether its pulled from KOTOR RPG's, Old Republic MMORPG, other legends material, or something brand new has yet to be determined.

Darth Revan is all but Canon at this point with his deleted scene cut from the Clone Wars TV show and the inclusion of the planet Malachor V in the Rebels TV show. Darth Treya (KOTOR II) is also nearly canon too since the same voice actress was used for the Sith Holocron in Rebels. I hope their stories are covered in some fashion.

Basically Disney saw MCU / Avengers making more than the GDP of many countries, and decided the Star Wars money printer will not be hamstrung by pesky things like canon or consistency. Star Wars will be their MCU.

There won't be three more movies, there will be 60. Like a freight train taking a dirt road they'll just ride the momentum until the wheels fall fly off and everyone hates it enough to stop visiting theaters.

They still make Star Wars movies?I thought they quit after the 80’s! I must be a old bastard! O my arthritis! Hack-wheeze.

I haven't watched the last two movies but it certainly seems like the latest Avengers is supposed to be the end of the original run even if it is "phase three". It will live on but I think the decline will start now once they start introducing a new cast of less inspired, cut/paste characters. See Dr. Strange vs Iron Man, a literal copy/paste in terms of their origin films and character design and personality.

I would be okay if both Avater and Star Wars failed big time...

avatar's more of a pet protect for James Cameron and in my opinion a technology showcase, the movie was decent but the technology used in the movie was amazing and actually effected the industry as a whole for what was really possible at the time. that's basically what the next movies being used for again and why it's taking so long to make..

Star wars has been having an episode since marklar binks the intergalactic space mongoloid

I think you’ll be shocked, but we are in for 5-10 years of declining MCU sales and quality.

The biggest problem I have with Disney, all Disney movies is the utter lack of Realism.

Every character ALWAYS has perfectly quaffed hair. Make up done, clean boots etc. No sweat, no tears, no dirt.

Go back to the original Star Wars. A little dirty, nothing pretty. Good story.

The realism makes a huge difference IMHO.

We'll see. It is unlikely that any MCU movie will ever hit the heights of Endgame again, not unless they stumble on the right combination of cast, writers, directors, and timing again. But that doesn't mean there will be a consistent decline in either sales or quality, not to the level you are implying at least.

which SW movies are coming out in 2022?...the trilogy written by Rian Johnson or the David Benioff/DB Weiss (Game of Thrones guys) one?

No one knows yet. All Disney did was throw "Star Wars" dates up on their release schedule. They probably won't announce details until Celebration 2020 or 2021.

so I'm guessing only 1 of those trilogies are moving forward?...I was really high on Benioff/Weiss writing the new trilogy but the final season of GoT has been a bit uneven so far and overall after the show passed the books the writing has definitely taken a step down...Rian failed with Last Jedi but I'm thinking it might have been because he was shoehorned into writing about the existing Skywalker story...maybe when given complete freedom to create a new story he will do much better

Denis Villeneuve would have been a great choice to write this new trilogy...Blade Runner 2049 showed that he has the ability to write an amazing follow-up to an all time classic sci-fi story...I'm really looking forward to his re-imagining of Dune

I think the big problem with the last season of GOT is well two things. One, I think they wrote themselves into a few corners with some of their decisions in earlier seasons (especially with certain characters that were killed or left alive) and even with the long development time this season still feels rushed. A lot of that production time was probably for CG effects and working around the busy schedules of various actors (especially Sophie Turner) so maybe they simply didn't have the time needed to do a couple more drafts of the episodes or get enough reshoots in but either way it feels like they're rushing to the finish line. If 2022 is D&D's trilogy then they have a good amount of time to get things ready. Plus, they might not end up directing so directors can tweak things that don't work or bring in their own writers to make edits to the scripts. I agree with your thoughts on Rian. He had to follow up Abrams set up and Abrams has admitted he never knew the conclusion to anything he set up in TFA which meant Johnson had to figure out where to take that mess of ideas and mysteries and figure out what to do with it while shoe-horning existing characters in. It doesn't excuse how bad TLJ was, but it might mean he'll be able to do something better when given more freedom.

Love that guy. BR2049 was epic. Sicario and Arrival also good.

Instead they'll give the trilogy to Brett Ratner to write and direct.

100% agree with you and polonyc2. was not expecting BR2049 to be as good as it was, Sicario was awesome and Arrival is underrated in my opinion. Hoping Dune gets the same treatment.
