PayPal's new refund policy has sellers up in arms

Seriously guys, what's the best Paypal alternative? Of course transaction fee and country availability are probably the main 2 factors. There's too many small services now.

I had a paypal account since 2004. I kept getting daily hacking attempts despite changing my email, passwords, setting up all the security they have available. So I cancelled. Just gave up.

Told you there wasn't a good alternative initially. Keep trolling on then.
Nice. I just posted alternatives and you flag the post and it gets deleted. Wow this place is going straight downhill with the death of HardOCP... Have fun guys, I give up attempting to provide reason for readers..

Try not insulting people and learn to post constructively... Maybe it won't happen again then.

I was asking for an alternative and then this guy came along and even got my post deleted of an alternative I found because I called him a butt. (Hoping this is okay so this post doesn't get removed.. <_<)

post it again without the insults and you will be fine.... ;)

Unlink your PayPal bank account or use a different service. PayPal are crooks - treat them like the thieves they are.

I sold 3 Xbox Digital Gift Cards. 3 different buyers purchased these from me. All of them filed a complaint with PayPal after I sent the code. PayPal refunded their money, took money out of my bank account and charged me the transaction fee! The buyers seemed like bots or knew about the scam. Only one of them responded to any messages. My return settings have been set to "no returns" before there was even a return section in eBay.

I've been using PayPal since 2000 and this is not the first time they have burned me on buyer fraud.

I've been using Paypal since 1999. Never had a problem again as I said, as long as you have all your ducks in a row, they will back the seller. Call them up and discuss what happened, and they will usually end it for the buyer.

They won't actually. Having also used Paypal practically since inception, Buyers unequivocally have all the tools and balance of power versus sellers, manifold options for committing fraud and getting free shit -- its not even close.

Want to lie to your credit card company and say those $300 headphones you bought six months ago "never arrived" even though tracking shows it did along with a signature? Paypal does not give a shit -- they rip the $300 from the seller's account without batting an eye. I could write a book on all the clever ways I've seen scammers use Paypal to commit fraud since I have to constantly be on watch for them.

Sorry, but I've done it at least 5 times with no issues.

1. Sold a Valentine 1 radar on eBay. I took pictures, and video of it working. I showed video of me packing it and pictures. I had Insurance, tracking, and signature required on the carrier.
--- Guy received it, and complained it didn't work. I asked him some basic questions if he tried another outlet, did he try another car, and so on as it worked before I shipped it. All he kept responding with to Paypal was he wanted a refund. I gave Paypal all my pictures and video, after talking to the, they agreed since he wasn't willing to troubleshoot, and return the device, they would not honor his request. They also thought he seemed to be a scammer due to his English was very broken and never would answer the questions.

2. Sold a laptop on eBay. Same routine, Pictures and video of it working, and packing. Sent it off. Guy got it, and 2 weeks later, said it wouldn't boot up any more and wanted to return it for a refund. I asked them because as it says on my auction, no refunds. So I asked why it took him this long to get back to me. He said it just had the issue. I told him, he needed to contact the manufacture for the warranty. I am not responsible for the laptop if it has an issue after you used it for 2 weeks. He still tried to push it. Paypal eventually denied him as it was obvious he was trying to get a free laptop. Again, I offered for him to return it on his dime, but he refused.

Like I said, as long as you have everything done correctly. Paypal will protect the seller. Most people are lazy and won't go through this.

^ Nothing to be sorry,. You've been lucky but your experience won't be the same for everyone, since every case is different depending on X factors like the aptitude of the Paypal employee doing the reviewing. Some of them are pretty damn english challenged themselves.

I've had all the same level of documentation and evidence -- signatures, insurance, pics, I videorecord everything on my shipping bench with four HD cameras - hasn't made any difference in certain cases where Paypal wasn't even interested in looking at it and they gave the scammer his money back while he kept the item.

Bigger sellers have to just accept fraud as cost of doing business, but who it really sucks for the little guy -- wake up one morning and your Paypal account is -$600 and continues to be so for days/weeks while Paypal fucks around "reviewing" a fraudulent claim, and your cashflow is crippled if you're trying to sell other things.

Yeah, agree that every case is different. Just I haven't had an issue yet. I agree, I hate having to call them just because they all seem to be English challenged.

The fact that they are willing to refund the buyer's money without requiring them to return the item to the seller is pure nonsense, IMO. That's an insane policy.
