2TB Intel QLC NAND PCIe M.2 drive for $189.99 with Promo code EMCTYUC22

Sweet deal. Really looking forward to replacing my sata ssd with these for games drives.

Damn, I just got a 1TB Sabrent drive that's still a bit faster than this for $150, tempted to send that back now and get this or even just get this and throw it in my 2nd M.2 slot with RAID 0 for max retardedness, lol.

1tb of the 2tb 660p would be unused. It would indeed reach max levels of lol.

I'm amazed that these are still in stock, it's such a great deal. Maybe Intel is pushing this out to pad their quarterly guidance since they dropped the 5G cellphone modems yesterday.

Meh, ordered one to add to the 1TB one I just ordered too, hah.

Buying one. Going to put it in a pcie x4 adapter then into my trusty X58 system with PCIE 2.0.

Dont judge me! Maybe I like to choke things!

Lots of people run Windows on a cheap 5400 hard drive so you're not alone, but theirs hurts worse. And the consoles?

Great to see <$200 at the 2TB mark. :) At this rate, the black friday and xmas sales will have 2TB drives for $99. (y)

I don't know about the speeds when the 660P approaches full (have read that it slows down quite a bit when it gets full - haven't filled one up to test), but I just put one in a rig to serve the same purpose I use an 850 Pro SATA SSD in another.

Don't really see too many head-to-head comparisons between the two, and I have no claims as to the accuracy of this site:

https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/Compa...M2-2TB-vs-Samsung-850-Pro-2TB/m610546vsm38860

Seems to best the 850 Pro (that I'm happy with) in about every category.

I'd make the QLC sacrifice for a 4TB drive. I think that's where I'd draw the line.

Of course I know it'd be fine for my use case but it is what it is.

Results of my choking fetish!! My X58 system is now able to saturate its pcie 2.0 bandwidth (lol @ QLC limitations). Booting to it using a USB based UEFI boot loader

Before - Intel 320 series ssd on SATA2
Intel 160GB SSD - SATA2 X58 P6T mobo.jpg

And After - PCIEx4 adapter Intel 660p
Intel 660p ssd - X58 P6T mobo.JPG X58-nvme-boot-drive.JPG

Here's what I got on my X470 mobo.

Vs the Sabrent drive I use as my primary/OS drive.

Definitely still more than fast enough for the games I'm putting on it.

I think OP meant less than $0.10 per GB. Been a while since we've seen $10/GB pricing on consumer grade SSDs. :D

But good deal (even for QLC) for everyone but power users. SLC cache will keep things snappy, just don't fill up the drive too much and avoid sustained writes.

What is the filled too much point for a QLC drive that it slows down? Sustained writes probably won't happen except when installing so it's not a problem, but sustained reads that I kind of expect to happen. ;)

I'm not too familiar with video editing, but I imagine that encoding 4K content is a use case where its sustained write performance would suffer.

This is what happens to its SLC cache as the drive fills:

Personally I'd try to keep it in that 50-101GB of SLC range to make modern game install times more bearable, but it also feels a little silly to have all that space just to save 25-45% of it for caching.

Have been debating getting one of these but only have one m2 slot as a boot drive on my pcie card x79 system. Once I realized they now make usb-c enclosures for nvme m2 drives decided to order one, performance will be capped at 10g but should be way better (and is cheaper) than the comparable samsung external ssds for performance.

I got the drive today and dam it does run hot when transferring data. Copied some games from my 960Evo NVME partition to it and it hit 70c. First drive I have that ever hit such a temp. The 960 EVO has only hit a max temp of 53c. Good transfer speeds at a max of 1.3GB/s but as it went on it dropped as low as 780MB/s with an empty drive. I'll fill the drive up slowly I am sure, but load speeds seemed noticeably faster compared to a SATA SSD on one game (DCS World) that I tried.

I use the 1TB version as a cache drive with Primocache. Great price for a big fat cache drive. Makes spinners bearable.
