The Division 2

Guy I was with rolled a 318k but I can't complain. This thing is nuts and i love it!View attachment 155767
For the visual among us:

Crafted my 490, now I have to figure out where I'm going to get some Exotic Material. Might be time to try and farm the Occupied DZ again, before they make it crazy.
Is it, or things like it, a good solo weapon later in the game? I am still leveling, but enjoy switching between a higher powered rifle and something with a high fire rate when I get surrounded.

wow armor 265k

Just a FYI, high armor has a downside. It can be significant. It eats into the stat budget. The same mask with a lot more armor will have a lot lower <DtE, CHC, CHD> etc. You'll get a lot more out of 10%+ more DtE than you will the extra 1000-3000 armor.

For leveling up, just use the weapons with the highest dmg, whether it's LMG, AR, Rifle, etc.

If you're fully spec'ed into MM rifles, Nemsis can be pretty solid. It will shine in a group (like most sniper builds) because you can let other people get aggro. If you're solo, the flinch from taking fire will present aiming issues. That said, most people spec into AR/XXX (SMG/LMG) or Rifle/XXX (SMG/AR/LMG) builds.

I've noticed that no matter how high your armor you're still running around like a glass cannon. Elites will knock most of your health and armor off with one hit.

I need to get into that and I need to finally get the Lullaby and Ruthless upgrades done.

Yup, that's why it's really only important if you're wanting to run something like Unstoppable Force.

I would say hold off on this, as you need to disenchant an exotic weapon to get the material to upgrade. I recommend disenchanting the exotic shotgun should you get it to drop.

Disenchanting 1 exotic, will get you 2 exotic materials. I would suggest upgrading Liberty, and Chatterbox first. Shotguns are kind of pointless in WT5+.

Thanks for those tips. :)

What's peculiar about this is: Any named exotic weapon would stop me dead in my tracks and I never would have parted ways with it.

I have yet to see named exotic weapons of any kind drop for me. I've done a lot of challenging level missions, bounties, etc. so... can anyone give me something a little more specific to raise my chances of getting this off the ground?

Some are "quests", Liberty, Nemesis, Chatterbox
Some are drops from particular bosses (Mericless=Named boss, Hyena faction) (Sweet Dreams= named boss, Outcast factions)
One is from named in the DZ, Pestilence
Two were from pre-orders; Lullaby and Ruthless

To be honest, they are all a bit under-performing, and most people will run Liberty or Chatterbox for their passive (3rd) perks.

Tried a heroic invaded mission and after dying repeatedly tried it on challenging. (Which was much more doable). Will try hard/heroic again once i get in the 500+ GS range and i'm feeling crazy. :banghead:

they don't get easier. tried one yesterday. after a scrub it puts you far back. and then people dropped out. so...

I haven't had the courage to attempt heroic yet. ;)

Same. I've done some Heroic Bountys with a team, but no missions yet. I have to admit, soloing Challenging isn't nearly as scary as it was in D1. Still no cake walk, but more manageable than I expected. My current build requires me to stay on the trigger and keep getting kills to get the most out of it, so once I start facing enemies that can stagger you frequently (shock ammo, drones, airburst, sniper), it starts to suffer when solo. With even 1 more person I can get away with not having to hide behind cover so much, and it flows a lot better.

I know a lot of people don't like Marco, and I certainly don't agree with all his opinions, but he has consistently called out problems in the game, even when they could be used to his advantage. He discusses a few things in this video, including the dangers of making the DZ the only place to get 515 gear, and how the changes to the Recalibration station could be exploited. I think its good discussion, let me know what you think.

He always brings up good points. I may not always agree with him, but he's well seasoned.

I think that video he discusses that making DZ the only place for 515 is a bad idea. It seems he has accepted that some people want to only PvE and forcing PvE players into the DZ is bad for both them and also those that just want to PvP. As he says, they die once and leave. Yep. Describes me also :)

Marco, we been here the whole time buddy.Ubi makes most of the money from us.. Thanks for noticing us..wow..

Lol, it's not like this is the first time he's defended PvE. Probably half the PvE fixes in D1 were in response to his bug & build videos. He is definitely a PvP player and he can definitely get off on that tangent, but he has shown concern for the over-all health of the game from the start. I think his comment section helps keep him honest if he doesn't.

One of the Devs commented on the Ubisoft Forums regarding gear 515 and up "only" dropping in the Dark Zone. Here is what he said:

Hey guys,

There was a lot to talk about on the stream today. I want to start off by saying the raid will drop the highest gear score (TBA), not the Dark Zones. As we've been transparent with our thoughts and decisions up until this point, we will continue to do so going forward. While we do want to experiment with Dark Zone rewards, we're taking everyone's feedback into account. It's still super early and we want to see how the content and looting plays on live. That's not to say things cannot be tweaked.

Hopefully this puts an end to all the hyperventilating.

It's my main issue with destiny 2 atm, a lot of the good drops require you to do PVP even is the first 5 quests orso were PVE, and to make matters worse you need to do very specific tasks which for PVP noobs like me could take months to achieve.

Better to give each their own rewards and at the same power level and not mix them up.

Having the best gear be part of a raid is not acceptable either. That still requires forced grouping.

Me, too.

For me personally the DZ was such a negative experience on part 1 I haven't even bothered with it yet on this and I'm not sure I ever will. I'm PVE all the way for this.

If I have to live with "only" 510-514 gear after recalibration I'll get over it. ;)

It’s the hardest task in the game it should drop the best gear. That’s my opinion, coming from someone who never played a raid in Destiny 2 due to time constraints (could be the same scenario for me in this game).

I don't think people should have to suffer through hard difficulties for the best gear. I think it should be available to everyone regardless of how they play the game. Some people find challenging difficulties fun, and others find casual difficulties fun.

Um, thats kinda the whole point to PVE in MMO's

I guess i'm a little confused over all the hub bub about 515 gear being in the DZ. One mainly because i am seemingly getting all my gear to 515 by min-maxing it with the recal station and two, in my DZ runs, i hardly ever come in contact with rogues and when I do, get to an exit and switch DZ's.

That being said, can someone tell me what in the game right now requires 515 gear? Or anything over 500? Will the raid?

If there is no activity that requires it, what's the concern?

Yeah this I can't agree with. If everything in the game was available at Normal difficulty, the game would be extremely boring.

Just chasing numbers? ePeen? Dunno.

I logged in last night and just did a few WT5 missions. Way too much to do. I guess I should go for masks and exotics?

I linked exactly how to get them for you on the last page! :-P

They're not all just random drops so it kinda almost requires looking it up, unfortunately.

I actually thought getting Chatterbox, Liberty and Nemesis was extremely easy because it was just following steps, no RNG involved.

This was a huge problem in the division 1 : To do the hardest content you absolutely needed to have the best gear and the only way to get it was by doing the hardest content. Getting there was a struggle. I think they eventually solved it. It was a much bigger gap than 15 points though.

Yeah I played through the early days of Falcon Lost. I have mixed feelings on it. They definitely made it too hard, at least for me based on my skill level. It was a giant bitch. But I loved all the early days of strategizing on how to beat it (down in the pit or up on the platform to the right?). That first time you got through it with a group was really rewarding. In the end I only played it enough to get the gear I wanted then I never touched it again. So that speaks to a bad design in my opinion. I hope the upcoming raid is both challenging and fun so there’s incentive to keep playing it (other than a gear vending machine).

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my PC. This game is taking about 5 mins just to spawn in front of the White House. That was never the case before these last few patches. I verified my game files and tested my SSD drive but I'm still experiencing these super slow loading times. Any ideas?

You're not the only one,it takes forever to load for me too and I also have a SSD. There's lots of gripes about it on Reddit, and has been acknowledged by Massive; but no solution..yet. The problem started happening two patches ago.

they screwed things with the last patch. takes forever to load and then forever to connect

Nope, everyone I talk to is in the same boat. 5-10 minutes to get into game, and then hope you don't have to restart because of an update or bug. There is a ton of complaining about it... well, every where. If they don't fix it before the next SotG, I'm sure they will discuss their plans for it.

This whole "gear creep" to 515 is also a hot topic every where. Reddit, the Ubi Forums, Youtube; you can't go anywhere without seeing it. It is obvious the majority does not want to be forced into PvP, but most seem to agree it should not drop from every activity. Raids, Heroic, Level 4 Control Points & DZ; these are the suggestions I see most often. Personally I don't think I'll bother no matter where it drops. I'm not one of those that enjoys the hardest difficulty, or activities that take an hour or more to complete (unless they are exceptionally fun). Grinding for things under these circumstances just frustrates me and I walk the other way. That said, I'm assuming that I'll still be able to make improvements to the gear I do have via the Recalibration Station. If they nerf that thing I will likely get a whole lot more vocal on the topic.

That's kinda where I'm at. I guess I'm conditioned by enough years of non-raiding WoW to be okay with lower end gear but still good enough to have an enjoyable experience.

Anyhow, it's proven over and over again that GS isn't everything when you take into account all the other variables.

I guess i'm still unsure of the issue. I can't seem to find any indication of any in game activity that would require gear with a gear score over 500. I've also got quite a few armor pieces at 515 and none of them have come from the DZ.

I'm genuinely trying to understand the concern here as there must be something i'm missing. Fill me in!

This is by design, not everyone should have access to best in slot gear. Getting the best gear available is the payoff for all of the work put in learning strats, perfecting them, farming materials (in games that need them) etc. I've done end game content in both EQ and WoW and it was a LOT of work. I'm a casual player now (Destiny 2 and division 2) and I dont expect to get best in slot gear for the small amount of time I invest into the game.

I must be the only person that after a long day at work simply wants to relax and enjoy a game. I don't need challenges during my off time.

Thats how I game now, and I dont expect to get the best loot in the game for that style of play.
