Google's product cancelling is killing their reputation.

Yea, not to be a tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theorist, but I have been working on deleting all google services, ditching android, and moving to a new email provider. Im getting tired of Google and Facebooks BS. But google docs...damn you if everyone else on this planet wants to collaborate on google docs...
I hear this one is good (not sarcastic): https://www.reagan.com/

I do like google docs... honestly though the open source stuff isn't too bad, I dunno if there is a peer-2-peer feature for collaboration, but I'd love to look into that if it exists... maybe something more modern using blockchains, I dunno...

Neither did Elon must and they also had no expertise in phones or operating systems.
Yes, and look how hard it is for Musk to meet production goals. It's not clear what will happen with Tesla long term. We won't know until Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, et. al. get into electric vehicles.
Google was an expert in software and Android is software. And, yes, google makes some phones, they aren't even in the top 10 phone manufacturers (as of 2017).

You're right. I believe it even the first cute-looking google self driving prototype car was manufactured by ford and google probably did the control and sensor software. Regardless, I really do hope the software makers are forced to be responsible for the autonomous car software they make.
Autonomous vehicles, even dumb slow ones, would be great for many things, especially giving the elderly population a bit more mobility. There are too many 90+ grandparents on the road who really should not be, either because they dont want to give up or can't afford a daily taxi-like service.

I think it's a given that anyone making autonomous software will be regulated and will be required to provide updates for the life of the car, because you can't have buggy software on the road. Alternatively it'll be a subscription and if the software is not up to date it will no longer work (but once cars are fully autonomous that's not workable, since they allegedly won't have a steering wheel at some point

Google is censoring searches and content too much these days. Anything not inline with the mainstream is censored. Any free thinking or speculation about controversial topics is shutdown on their platforms like Youtube. Google use to be a company with a great reputation. Now it's a shadow of its former self. Who wants to work for or pay a company who censors and limits free speech. This isn't even including the spying and selling of everyone's private information. I think after some point someone else is going to be on top pretty soon. It's just a matter of time. People are getting tired of being treated unfairly.

I think it's cute how people think google only started doing this recently... they've always used "personal data" and filtered searches as far as I've ever known them (pre-2000s)

so have a ton of other companies, like aol, yahoo, microsoft, apple... not sure how google is special in this regard, besides being more open about it

please educate me though, I'm interested to learn :) also on the free speech front... are you guys saying google doesn't have freedom of speech? or because the public uses it then they should allow whatever crap through no matter what? should that logic apply to other businesses too? again, just curious

Google has 65% of PC searches and 80% of mobile searches. And if i want to find left or right wing topics, they're easy enough to find.

It's almost as if they operate like Valve: the devs just kind of do whatever floats their boat at the moment with no real structure or oversight.

There's a lot of content that is being blackholed and even deleted. Some content is pushed back many pages. Youtube for example has authoritative sources listed first which is a very subjective and controversial matter in itself. Any controversial content even for non political stuff is messed with on their search results for Youtube and googles main site. A lot of people on Youtube have received false copyright strikes. A lot of channels have been shutdown because of rule changes which affect old videos without warning. Videos where people purely speculate on world events are being shutdown with their channels deleted without any strikes in some cases. These practices are not really fair for anyone using their platforms. The censorship is what is killing it the most. It is at an all time high. Facebook is killing themselves also with censorship. Alternative news is being targeted on these platforms. Regular everyday normal people with a camera in their bedrooms with an opinion are being banned also. Shadow banned also. Most alternative Youtube channels which speculate on news or world events are shadow banned. The people should be the ones deciding what content they want to see. There's a lot of stuff going on which is very shady with Google. It's not good. People are tired of it. It's not really a matter of left vs right videos. Conservative content is being censored on Instagram and Youtube. I've seen frivolous copyright strikes everywhere but some how the liberal mainstream side of things remain untouched. I'm just saying Google's future does not look good. Even if your not impacted by the censorship, you are being impacted by the spying and nonchalant selling of everyone's private information. There's a lot of additional stuff going on also. If you can't say your opinion without being afraid of getting a copyright strike that should be a red flag in itself. Google is walking on thin ice with all this stuff happening. All it takes is just one small migration or movement overnight for them to be in collapse mode. In business you survive off of repeat customers. Once you burned those your gone. The game is up. All it takes is for one decent site to come up and their finished. It's just a matter of time. They have to change or else they'll end up like Myspace or Geocities lol

They've always done this, I'm not sure why this point in particular would suddenly make people lose confidence. Plenty of other reasons to choose from.
