I wish they werent making it tbh. Im a die hard fan but I have no faith in that piece of trash Sergei Grigorovich. He ruined the company before, and he will ruin the franchise for good this time.

I'm down! I've played through SoC and CoP at least 5 times each. CS has always been broken and runs like ass for me, never could complete it.

whhaaaat? cp was way better than clear sky, I never had any issues with it, aside from the normal x-ray issues.

I'm mixed here. I can't imagine it being good. I'm playing through Metro Exodus and honestly it is very much what STALKER should have become. Maybe some slight differences, STALKER was always a bit more open but in general the feel of Exodus is very much spot on for what I think a modern day STALKER should be. Open sections with decent sized maps but not open world with dozens of copy/paste activities to do for leveling up. I'd certainly like to see a proper STALKER game that doesn't become like the latest Assassin's Creed games but I don't have much faith in it not ending up being a generic grind based game.

STALKER is way underrated. The gritty visuals and creepy environments were fantastic. And the dialogue has created so many memes.

Loved the first game even though it needed more polish at release. The game world was awesome at the time and quite challenging. I'm glad they are making a new game. It's been so long.

Adding this video for a bit of history of the game franchise.

Announcement was made that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is powered by Unreal Engine 4.

The important bit: "Yes, we know what you are thinking about, but this announcement has nothing to do with platforms or digital stores." You all know what this means:

Please be true to the original, or I should say Call of Pripyat. A good engine and less bugs are a good start though. Good support is great, as long as they don't intend on modders making the game playable in the first place.

This is not good, I like the engine, but being tethered to Epic, Stalker 2 will be a Epic store exclusive, if so, I will not buy it.

I feel it was the atmosphere which made STALKER a great game. This was, in part, due to the gritty realism, with all its quirks and problems, created by the X-RAY engine. I still remember the first time I fought off the bandit attack on the train depot during a thunderstorm.

Wouldn't amaze me if they couldn't find any other publisher. From their announcement, I'm going with a 50/50 chance it will be on Epics client only.

in their press release they stated: 'this announcement has nothing to do with platforms or digital stores'

It was even better with a dedicated multiplayer server. Time of day effects as well as weather realism made the game really engaging. The hardest part was setting up a dedicated server using Engrish Russian translations.

its going to be epic exclusive, maybe for a year or so. they get nothing going to steam, pay more. epic will probably cut them a sweet deal.

over the past year epic has handed out some 35 free games, and their sale deals have been much better than the steam offerings.

I think it is about time to move past the epic hate, but w/e

I almost wish games would announce their release like, when they release.

But then how would they build the hype train and get people to pay for the development of the game by preordering.

Or how about move past most "hate"? These threads are filled with people hating. Sometimes the hate is valid, but most of the time they're hating just to hate.

I'm 99% positive the guy who holds the rights and was essentially responsible for the initial sequel being canned and most of the original team leaving will have zero problem bending the knee to Epic.

Steam, Uplay, EGS, shouldn't matter, but I will freely admit I hate the anti-consumer bs and veiled bribery of artificial exclusives.

Right now I'm just hoping we get (a) something at all and (b) something with the spirit of the original games in spite of all the time and changes

this and NOT hide behind the words "Beta" or "Early Access" for ages and do nothing (looking at games like Tarkov)

Gamers need to stop allowing them to this.

Why exactly is someone not wanting to throw away 30% of their profit "bending the knee"? What other industry is there that collects 30% profit for a webhosting service? Steam is just a tool library. They do nothing for the games they host. If your game is popular it will get put on the front page. If it is not, it will disappear in all the trash. A recent article talked about how Steam is slowing down, going from 8400 releases a year to 8000. That means nothing since only about 100 are actual games and not asset flip trash. You want to hate on epic, that's fine, but don't hate on the developers who choose to survive by using them.

AFAIK, Valve doesn't require a developer only sell their game their platform. If they choose to, that's up to them. EPIC has a different business model, and only they know how successful that is.

I'm not GSC and it's up to them to make the choice that's in their best financial interest. I'm simply saying that what is pro business is often anti consumer, and at the end of the day, it's up to us to vote with our wallets just like the developers do.

valve in their terms and conditions specifically blocks their customers being treated differently than customers on other stores. to make the same profit from steam that they would on epic companies would have to charge 25% more. how would you feel if you PERSONALLY had to pay a 25% steam tax rather than the developer eating it. Is that something you would choose so you get all the "steam features"?

Rockstar for RDR2 sold an upgraded version of the game on their store, a regular version on epic... and a month later the same regular version on steam. Companies want a bigger cut of the product they developed and that is reasonable. If you don't want to pay it, then the cost will be in "time".

As for games, unless they are big titles, there is no reason for Epic to feature them on their store and give them free advertising if people are just going to turn around and buy them on steam so they can be "in their steam library"

that is your choice then which would be fine. you can spend less and get it on say EGS or spend 25% and get it on your preferred platform. Don't see the problem here and I'm not sure why the devs don't either.

Disappointed its on unreal, but looks good. Is the BRAIN SCORCHER back???? :hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry:
