HOT: Samsung 2018 55" "BFGD" 120hz @ 1440p with HDR CHEAP @ 799.99 or, Open Box $679 Best Buy ht

Hey guys is the 120hz 1440 mode supposed to work on the NU8000 49" model as well? We just picked one up for my father but when I try flicking it over to 120hz I just get a black screen. 4k@60 works just fine. 1080P @ 120hz also black screen, using MSI GTX 1080 Gaming.

Not sure if this is the fix but it looks like it.

Enable HDMI UHD Color.
Go to TV menu using TV remote: Home >> Settings >> General >> External device manager >> HDMI UHD Color >> and turn it ON.

May not be a sticky setting and have to be re-enabled if the set loses power/get's unplugged.

I just got to it by googling 120hz nu8000, i'd post the full reddit link but the forum keeps turning it into a big media block of reddit vomit.

Just gave that a shot to no avail, so groebuck is right. It's just interesting because the nvidia control panel lists 120hz under both 1080P and 1440P, I'm not using CRU.

the 49 inch does not have a 120 hz panel. only 55 inch and above.

Sounds right, ah well, it wasn't a selling feature I just told him I think he can do 120hz 1440 and he got excited. Too bad.

If it's something he wants exchange it for a 55" and up.. all those have the 1440 120hz screen.

I talked him down to 49" because I thought 55" was just a bit too big for the room he was putting it in. Should have double checked here had I known. He doesn't seem to mind though because he already has a 100hz 1440 ultrawide. We're now trying to figure out if a gtx 1080 on the latest drivers can run it with freesync.. It seems to also offer freesync in the options

On the NU8000? Freesync is over hdmi only. Nvidia cards don't currently support freesync over hdmi. Only display port. Gotta get an AMD card :(

Can anyone confirm that this TV only accepts AC110-120V 50/60Hz for power? I'm about to move to Europe where they're 220/240V and would like to replace my existing Samsung 43" KU7500 monitor/TV with this if possible.

If not, can anyone recommend a large TV like this that has Freesync and Displayport so you can use it with Nvidia cards? I was kinda set on Nvidia for my next card too just for Metro and it's Ray Tracing support.

I could always offer to trade him my v64 for his SLI 1080s + EK blocks, but he may call me a few names during that chat LOL.

Ah well.

Oh we ran into one more thing here... I tried Far Cry: New Dawn on his PC and if I enable HDR10 the screen seems to only show a few different shades of pink, and the other HDR option (SDR?) cuts the refresh down to 30hz. So this isn't going so well thus far LOL.

We're using an HDMI 2.0 cable, should I try a newer one?

I've had my nu8000 75" on Radeon VII and xbox1x for month, it's just awesome. Easy on eyes, PC and xbox are smooth

I didn't like it at first, over time its grown on me. Playing BF1, BF5 Warthunder. Metro Series,

Samsung nu8000 has few features of hdmi 2.1, I seen it on rtings.com.

You absolutely do not need an AMD card to use these Samsung 1440p @ 120hz displays.

Personally, I would suggest nVidia over AMD for the simple fact nVidia can push 120fps @ 1440p @ high / ultra settings on a wide range of their cards, the 1070, 1080, 1080 ti, 2080, 2080 ti and possibly even the 2060.

However, there is nothing wrong with AMD obviously. The variable refresh rate will definitely come in handy with the lower performance especially at 1440p with ultra settings. With nVidia, you're looking at dropped frames but it's very much seamless and undetectable if you have a modern PC with a higher end CPU.

Variable refresh rates def have benefits on lower end systems as the refresh rate can automatically adjust on the fly while still maintain the smoothness of not having dropped frames.

Both cards offer a great experience on these amazing Samsung displays.

With my 9900K @ 5Ghs along with my 2080 ti ... I'm at 145 to 250fps at ultra settings on my NU8000 @ 1440p @ 120hz.

I never said Amd only. All having Amd card with TV it makes TV even better value and buy.

I run games maxed on Radeon VII with free sync on 1440p and 4k. And used GTX 1080ti

I am type person likes get most out there money.

Each to there own, on brands and such.

Just scored a 65" nu8k from Coscto with 5 yr warranty for $899.97 shipped to my door! The warehouses in the PNW are running out quick, so if you are on the fence buy it now!

FYI, the 55" is on sale for $779 at my Costco, and comes with the 5 yr warranty.

Bro, you clearly have never used a VRRR display before.

You'll love it seriously, I have 75", I spent few days setting up colors for SDR and HDR, its beautiful display for money.

VVR and freesync are wonderful, gaming, movies it does really good job

Prices are still the sale prices at bb. $799 for the 55" and $899.99 for the 65".

Dont go buying the warranty at bb though! Costco is where I'd buy with warranty.

Though I believe you can still buy the same square trade warranty later on even if ya buy from bb.

If you buy the SQ warranty from Costco, it gives you an automatic discount for the price of the warranty.

Now 699 at Walmart.

I picked up the 55 at BBY and price matched Walmart. I had it in 120hz mode and couldn't figure out why it was running like ass on my 2080ti. Turns out game mode turned itself off. Turned it back on and Bam its soo much nicer. I have it on a 62" wide desk and slid back a few feet. Its gunna be really tough to play FPS on it, but I have a 24" 165 hz dell for that. I have been playing rocket league at 120hz now for like an hour and it feels great. When you sit back 1440p isn't bad at all either. I think I will just let it stay there all the time.

Why is it going to be hard for you to play FPS? FPS looks freaking amazing on this 55" display. The Division 2 has so much damn detail at 1440p that I cannot even imagine trying to view this on a tiny 24" display.

Only nu8000 55" and bigger, nu8000 49" only can do 60hz on 1080p,1440p,4k

Wonder what it'd look on my 75"

How does this look if you watch movies. Say about 5 feet away. Almost as good as 4K?

The NU8000 is the highest end in that series, and all content looks amazing.

go to rtings.com to read the reviews for whatever model of the Samsung "BFGD" that you're considering buying.

I didn't realize this was a 4K TV, thought it was only 1440 from reading the title.

If you guys could rate gaming 120 1440 vs 60 2160 on this 55in. Let's hear it please.

What do you mean by open box? Is this a YMMV type of deal or does BB have like hundreds of open box monitors sitting around?

60hz is pretty much ... meh ...

It's a Samsung 4K 60hz set .... really nothing more to say. 4k Youtube content look great, Windows desktop looks great ... it does support 4:4:4 chroma so everything is razor sharp.

Once you game at 120hz ... 60hz no longer works.

Lol sitting close to a 24” is really nice actually. I’ve used large displays for years, all the way back to the fw900, ive had a 106” 1080p 3lcd projector, a u3007-hc, and for the last 2 years gamed on a 43” 4k60 with 25 is ms input lag. I love the detail for fps shooters, but at 55” the head tracking with kb and mouse screws with my steady hand. I like the versatility this setup gives me!

As for the person asking about 1440 120hz vs 4k. Inreally anticipated seeing some scaling or blurring on the 55”. I dont really see any screen door effect or issues running 1440 and im usually really picky about that.

This is a great stopgap until 4k120 can be powered at a reasonable price and the tvs match the real world benefits of this tv.

120hz 1440p that good ?
I'm using a Hisense H8C that has 60hz max.
So I should get rid of this H8C for this new Nu8000 and expect huge day and night difference in gaming? I won't be disappointed?

Naitive 120hz is a game changer, but where this tv really shines is in its input lag. It feels extremely tight and responsive in almost every mode.

Hisense? Man, this Samsung NU8000 is 100x better.

Good news and bad news for the 2019 version of these Samsungs.

The bad new first, no display port. The good news is, 2018 and 2019 Samsungs are 90% identical to one another.

http://en.tab-tv.com/?p=15553

The only difference is a slight 2lb weight reduction and updates to the OS mostly dealing with voice recognition. Other wises they are identical. A few features had their names changed but are the same feature.

The really good news is that the 49" now supports 120hz @ 1440p. Cost is $999.

The REALLY REALLY good news is that the Samsung Q60 43" supports Freesync and might possibily support 120hz @ 1440p.

Samsung is showing stock of this model.

Otherwise, BHPhoto has a pre-order page up:

Here is the PDF for the 2019 Samsung Q60R 49" as found on Samsung.com

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201903/20190326104351182/ENG_US_MUSATSCR-2.0.2.pdf

Newegg has the Q60R 49" in stock for $997

Also, I am very tired and probably misssed some important details.

If anyone wants to add to this, that would be awesome.

HDMI 2.1 and 4K@100 or 120 native? Different models have different features and some features might not yet be discovered yet.

I'm personally excited for the 49" R60.

Many here will be very excited for the 43" if it supports 1440p @ 120hz.

That's cool that they are extending the features down to the smaller models. A boon for PC users.

Not surprised at all about the lack of DisplayPort - a few of us called that early on so at least there's less disappointment, lol.

Hopefully input lag numbers will be the same as the previous sets or even less - can't wait for the Rtings reviews on these. There may end up being a big thread at OCN as well...those guys tend to dive in early and dive in deep.

Asus and I believe someone else are slated to release 43" 4K 120Hz monitors this year - could make for some difficult decisions depending on how they choose to price them.

Looking at the B&H page it shows Motion Rate 120 technology which leads me to believe this will b a 60hz panel. I of course hope I am wrong because this is a size I can deal with on my desk.

I see the 65" is on sale for $849.99. I take that one is probably a 60 Hz panel to?

If it is the NU8000 series, then it is the exact same tv I have and you get native 120hz at 1080p/1440P.

I got one of the last ones from Costco.com, and I am glad I did not wait any longer. They are gone from the site now.

These TVs sound really neat. How does the 1080 and 1440 mode work though? Is it true 1080 where only 1080 pixels are lit up, or is it through interpolation/scaling?
