So who pays $400 for a mouse ?

Need a mouse and noticed Newegg has 3 mice priced at about 400 bucks. I must have missed something major in the development of the humble mouse. I just can't see the value in a $400 mouse. Could someone enlighten me?

Anyway, I need a cordless mouse with forward and backward buttons on the side. My last mouse, a Logitech, developed a sticky icky touch on the rubber parts including the scroll wheel. I'd prefer the new mouse not be subject to this nasty flaw.
 
Quick scan through Newegg organizing mice by most expensive, it's clear there are quite a few pricing mixups there. Those mice should not actually cost that much and are much cheaper elsewhere.

That's going to happen on every mouse if you don't keep your hands clean.
 
hah. I have two of those. Still work too. Sell them cheap. How does $2,700 sound?

Never saw that happen on any mouse I owned, my Logitech G5 is probably 15 years old now and the most I can complain is worn paint and tired cable. I know this isn't a metric or absolute truth.
Can't it be cleaned ? I mean disassemble the mouse and put the wheel in a cleaning solution for some time ?

Same here. I've only seen it when people have dirty hands.
If you eat at your desk it will happen. Even if you just have a tiny amount of grease on your hand it's going to transfer to the mouse and build up over time.

I always wash my hands before I use my PC to avoid this.

I wash my hands when I go to the washroom or do mechanics or whatever, no need to go crazy on the purell lol.
I guess every body is different and one may cause this to happen. (One of my friend is very hard on the PS4 joystick, his sweat is acidic I suppose.. I wouldn't say he should wash more.)

OP could search for some protection to apply to the rubber portion like rubber based spray or whatever to protect it more.

Or .... maybe you simply have not used a mouse with certain types of soft plastics which react with oils and salts left behind in your fingerprints. It is a common theme. Blame the manufactures.

When not gaming, as with writing this post, I use a Microsoft bluetooth notebook mouse like this. The soft black comfy sides get sticky after a time. Bit of talcum powder fixes things right up.
