Ratings are above average for this memory. Some AMD users are reporting that they are not getting full speed but this is a known issue with AMD ... I believe, especially their first Ryzen chipset. However, majority of people are getting the rated 3000mhz speeds. With that said, I did not see anyone reporting that they could overclock this memory beyond 3000hz.

Pretty smoking hot deal. This is the lowest price yet on high-speed RGB memory in a long time.

Wow, I just spent $135 on a 16GB (2x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro memory. :(
 
Are those timings good for 16GB DIMMs? CL16 tells me it isn't Samsung B die and could also explain the issues it could be having with AMD.

I just spent over 400 bucks for 32GB (4x8) for Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3200 mhz CL14, so the price difference does hurt a bit.

It's not B-die. It probably won't run at rated on AMD. My 3200 only runs at like 3000.
 
But that's not Samsung B Die. CL14 3200 mhz has a lot more OC headroom than CL16 3000 mhz as well.
 
3000mhz to 3600mhz is the sweet spot for DDR4 memory and the timings really do not give you any advantage one way or another. I think tighter timings add a bit to benchmark results but I know in games, there not even any additional frames per second to be had in the 3000 to 3600 range, from my own experience and research. Your basically splitting hairs at this point. But I won't speak with any type of finality here as I don't want to get called out.

I do know that the point of diminishing returns is exactly at 3600mhz and that going in higher is a waste of effort, time and money. There are many many articled out there that discuss this

I have the 2400mhz version of this memory (2x16GB). Would I see a significant upgrade in performance moving to this, or should I just go to 64GB?

That is not really true on the AMD side of life, tighter timings have shown a decent uplift in performance usually helps the minimum frames out. On Intel the timings just dont matter as much but for AMD they do.

Disclaimer ya'll .... I do not own a AMD system. But I love you guys nonetheless and if I can help I will. I used to fight with the AMD crowd but have since had a change of heart. We are all in this together regardless if your AMD or Intel.

Before buying this memory, just hit the reviews and hit them hard, both on Newegg and Amazon and really take your time to read thru everything. Those reviews are the best reviews on the internet. They are real life unbiased end user results where the expectations are super high and the truth just as much so.

I did read some AMD guys were having issues with rated speeds but the news I passed along was only meant as a baseline. If you have AMD, obviously it's better for you to put your own eyes to task and see what end users are really saying.
 
If you are using a modern bios, 9.5/10 users should be able to run their rated speed, even with a first gen Ryzen. Lil story..

I took my 2700 out of my sig right since it's torn down waiting for RADEON VII blocks. I have my old 1600 @ 4.1Ghz in there.

I am.running the same ram I purchased in Jan of '18, a 2x8GB kit of G.skill 3200 (16-18-18) Hynix M die IIRC. On the modern dec of '17 bios, my X370 Prime would only do 2933 with these sticks. I was able to tighten timing up(14-15-14 IIRC it's been a while but in a thread here somewhere) but no 3200 which was still great for a "budget" non QVL SET of ram running on a cpu clocked to the ragged edge the 14nm process allowed.


When the mobile Zen bios release hit, I could do 3200 (DOCP TIMINGS OF 16-18-18) 95%STABLE while 3066 cas 14 wasrock solid . I was working on tightening timings with the Zen 1+ bios when my board bricked itself (was a know issues sadly). I took it back to MC and got abrand new x470 Prime Pro.



With the x470, 3200 was still only 95% stable ubtil the summer bios releases which was AGEA 1.02xx something. 3200 DoCp was to k solid, and I even played with tigher timings until my 2700 arrived and my 1600 was retired for a backup project.

Using Ryzen ram calc, I was able to take this non QvL kit to 3200 14-15-15-xx 1T which offered 98% of what 3200c14 did at 70% of the price).

The reason I went through typing all this is that newbies to Ryzen will realize that ram issues are really a thing of the past if you spend a little time on research and use the right tools (Typhoon burner and Ryzen Ram Calc) and learn how to set the sub timings etc. Once you get to even 2933 c 14/15, you have plenty of performance. Sure 3200-3400 will get you more e peen and some boosts in random games, but for most the money saved over a Samsung b die kit should be put into a larger Nvme m.2 drive or a GPU tier.



I am going to go to 32GB this summer with my Ryzen 2 8/12c, and will sell this off so I can go to 2 dimms to lessen the load on the IMC. I think the cache tweaks and the fact AMD was aware of the Rocky ram issues at launch should make this release even better.
