If you've ever wondered how case fans are manufactured, Gamers Nexus just uploaded a tour through a Deepcool factory. The company says they're transitioning to a fully automated manufacturing process before some of their competitors, but it appears that the quality control process is still handled by humans.

Check out the tour here.

PC case fan manufacturing is growing more advanced with automated production lines, but manual assembly is still involved. Learn more in our Deepcool fan factory tour in China... Deepcool has factories located in both Shenzhen, China and Dongguan, China. For this tour, we're focusing on the company's Shenzhen factory for its PC case fan manufacturing, where we show how fans are manufactured in China. This facility uses "robots" and automation for its assembly, with human oversight to ensure proper installation of bearings, blades, and more.

Riddle me this - if everything is going automated - WHY are all these factories still being built/outfitted in China vs the US? Isn't the whole argument for going to China is the labor costs...and automation eliminates labor...

Raw materials play the other large part. China has abundant supply of rare earth materials needed for making motors. Land is cheap, oversight doesn't exist if you pay the right people, and the distribution chain. Labor aside, it's still significantly cheaper to manufacture offshore.

You ever try to get any building built in the usa? As an example, it took 3 months for the county to "allow" my 15 person site to have an electrician come in and install 6 additional 20 amp 120v outlets. I could just image the nightmare fuel of building a factory. Just the government shake down money would be amazing.

It's about the supply chain. Everything moved to China because of cheap labor, but it gets automated in China because the inputs are there now, because everything moved to China already.

Going through drama with deep cool right now.

Discovered their early version of a AIO case was leak prone. Found my system off and water pooled. After 18 emails and dozens of pictures they refused to send me a non leaking waterblock... because my pictures didn't show the leak spraying out. Like I was going to power up my 2500$ system and risk further damage to get a second plausibley leaky 80$ cooling system.

Bought a corsair h150i and other then labor to swap very happy.

As you can read fairly common problem.

I've had fantastic luck with DeepCool's air CPU coolers. Good products, good mounting, great price.

There was dust and plastic debris all over their robotic machine. They need clean and wipe the machines down if they are really worried about debris and dust. :p

Shenzen is the digital equivalent of Detroit at it's height. A whole city centralized around the production of a specific product segment. All of the supply chains feed into there and uprooting them at this point would a needlessly costly exercise.
