BioWare's new IP: Anthem

You can buy cosmetics with real money or with coins earned from in game quests.
But none of the exploits have been around the methods of gaining coin just gaining gear.
So explain it for me please how can farming gear that you can not get any other way then playing this game have any kind of influence on the bottom line in selling cosmetic items ?
Getting new items easier make it less appealing to buy items. The items doesn't have to be identical for this. If you get reasonable amount of loot for your grind you'll be less likely to buy additional things. It's really not rocket science.

This is not specific to EA or Anthem. Exploits should not be a bannable offence. And if you think they only hurt themselves, why ban them? What does it matter to you?

Besides what makes no sense are aimless games that make you grind for the sake of grinding and random loot drops. There should be a goal in every game besides getting the next megasshat armor. And once that goal is reached games stop being interesting.

To be honest it is the next level in being stupid. To stream content where you abuse Storm ultimate and then complain about well I only was grabbing chests in GM3 in a video.
That alone would fly high as a good reason to be banned from the game (in the end Gladd got suspended).

The real problem is of EA own creation where they put youtubers on a pedestal and call them influencers and treat them as such very important persons and apparently this huge ego boost is then a validation for youtubers to do stupid things.

You can not get new items from the store because the only items sold are COSMETIC.
There are NO cosmetic drops in the game. You can not farm cosmetic items from killing mobs in exploits ...

See the problem no drops are cosmetic thus you can not farm them by using exploits ...

Playing the game how you want to play is now a stupid thing and a good reason to be banned. What a time to be alive.

If you're rewarded by the gameplay you won't think about buying things. That's why these games are made deliberately grindy. So you will seek to reward yourself by buying an item in the store.
Finding a shortcut trough the grind is bad for business. As I've said the items you get trough gameplay don't have to be the same or even cosmetic, as long as you get enough of them you'll be content.
This worked for me in Ghosts Wildlands, or AC Odyssey. There were tons of cosmetic in store stuff, but I never wanted to buy any, as the game gave enough new items trough exploration.

Because its just totally one random unknown youtuber who thinks this game is half baked garbage. Try another straw man. Oh fanboys.

I don't even particularly like this game. It's a C- at best. Yet people apparently have so much time on their hands that they're willing to make and watch hours of other people complaining about this game and others.
If it's so bad and you hate it so much, why do you care enough to be a part of that?

This better be a bug.....else Bioware is gonna be burned at the stake for this.

Heh, too late as Bioware is already in ashes :)

On a side note, I got my third legendary last night and its another LMG and its the same exact legendary LMG I already have... ugh.

A dev responded here:
Definitely sounds like a bug or an issue with how they balanced things for low-level players. Either way, this is pretty bad.

I swear to god they never actually played their own game or did any bug testing.

Holy crap, it looks like all the L1 gear is better than the MW/Legendary types.......they really really really fucked this up.

Well I was holding out hope for today's livestream, but I came away even more disappointed. I really want the game to be good because I honestly enjoy the core gameplay, but the devs on the stream have killed my hope that the game will last long enough to become a good game. They straight up ignored the biggest issues, even though the chat was spamming the questions, while cherry picking random bug questions. I hate to say it, but I think I think I'm about to pronounce a time of death for this one.

Good news, seems to be a bug, affecting only the beginning default weapons. They said fix will be soon.

Ya....the Livestream was basically them committing suicide. Him saying he's taking off a few weeks for his brothers wedding.......lol.

You have no clue whatsoever about game development ... The people you tend to see in the media have next to no coding responsibility they are usually in managing spots for a good reason. Teams doing the work tend to be organized in live groups content groups and people who do live bug tracking and solving ....

There is always hope, destiny 2 was in a pretty bad state with players leaving in droves and is now with forsaken expac back in full swing.

If you say so. Its called "Perception", he comes off as not carrying the game has serious fucking issues at every level.

So I got more legendary weapons but they all have the same stats if they are the same type of weapon. There should be more variation with these.

How far are you into the game, what difficulty? After finishing the main story I'm mostly getting legendary weapons playing the Heart of Rage stronghold on hard difficulty, got two in one match yesterday.

Your pool of MW/Legendary is EXTREMELY limited on Hard Diff.

You mean master work :)
I got some from doing legendary contracts (GM1) on a regular basis on hard you get a limited master work pool consists with weapons only.

I know, tried Grandmaster 1 and was dying in seconds from regular Scar soldiers. Insane! Gonna be a while before I go above hard difficulty again.
I needed to farm some simple setting dungeons for some rep grind and I was doing hard setting and I was forced to clear the whole stage myself because my team mates just kept running into trouble ;)

So I went back to normal setting which is not a bad way to get some starting gear the problem is that you get best benefits from tokens. So eventually you would have to get beyond epic and half way through to master work GM1 is a far less lethal

Yet people apparently have so much time on their hands that they're willing to make and watch hours of other people complaining about this game and others.

And? Those people making those videos derive a livelihood from playing and critiquing games on youtube, what do you expect they're going to do with a high profile AAA flop? Are you also going to criticize journalists for spending exorbitant time writing articles complaining about this shitty game as well, because that's how asinine your argument is. And people watch them to inform themselves, which is what they should do before handing over money to companies that have repeatedly proven themselves to be dishonest and unscrupulous.

If it's so bad and you hate it so much, why do you care enough to be a part of that?

Its called having a hobby and engaging in a dialogue with like minded individuals, especially when the subject matter concerns a shitty ass publisher like EA which in recent years has contributed significantly to the decay of the industry. And also schadenfreude from witnessing EA massively botch another release as I predicted.

Last night was pretty frustrating with their bugs. Had a audio stop working and a crash to desktop. It's a sign I should take a break and finish Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

We were expecting Anthem's 1.03 patch on March 12, but according to a post from their community manager Jesse Anderson it'll be here "between 7am and 9am Central Time on March 9th" instead...among its changes, level 30+ characters will no longer find basic white or green-rarity items, respawn timers are now based on the activity a player is in, and various improvements to stability and audio have also been made...

Patch came over for me about an hour ago. With DMC5 I dunno when I'll go back to this game, though.

The new patch is very welcome. Had one crash to desktop but everything else more seems stable, especially the audio bug being gone.

LOL, the "interact" function with a pad is now broken. I can't open chests, interact with plot items, etc.
Tried the option to swap to another button and it still doesn't work.

LOL gotta love that QA testing.

Welcome to live service gaming....where the devs/publishers shovel out trash masquerading as full priced games and you as the customer live in hope that one day it will be patched into a working product.

Ya I know. This is by far the worst release I've ever seen for the genre. Makes D1, D2, and Division 1 look like complete quality launches. Shit even they didn't ban people, *remembers the D1 loot cave*

just finished the main story...beat all the Main Missions solo...the final boss was easy once I figured out what to do after Phase 1...I kept dying after he teleported out but finally figured it out and it was a pretty easy fight with the right weapons...I got a Legendary Marksman Rifle before I finished the campaign...overall the story was OK but fun...now I'm going to play with a group for all end-game content...hopefully the Legionnaire Contracts and weapon grinding will be worth the grind...I'm currently at Lvl 21

overall I think the game in its current state is good but needs a lot more content...the world looks huge but it all looks the same and I wish there was more variety...also jet-packing around makes the world look smaller...also needs much more enemy variety...fighting the same 5 enemies over and over gets stale...the game is repetitive but with the right content drops this could be great...I give the game a grade of 80 now with room for growth

I will say that the voice acting is top notch...I haven't had any bugs or crashes either...and the game runs really well at 1440p and looks gorgeous

I think Bioware were counting on the game looking mesmerizing to keep some folks hanging around a good while longer...

Which would be May by there road map....and I'm very doubtful they are going to make it to May or actually deliver new fun content in May.

Looks like I can interact with things this morning and my performance is way better, too. Maybe I got on a bad server yesterday or something? At this point I do still want to complete the core portion of this game.
