I had SLI 2080 Ti for a bit. Too many problems, so I sold the second card.

Surprisingly, performance is about the same, even in games where SLI looked like it was working.

A few games did take advantage of the cards, like Tomb Raider, because they support DX12 mGPU.

And GTA V and a few random games did have good scaling. But overall most games either did not work, or "worked" but without substantial performance improvements.

Hey Kyle, did you ever get a resolution to this / cause of problem? Thx
Doing some more testing this week, then next week the card will more than likely move to destructive testing. All that will likely take a month, but we feel as though we now have a handle on what the outcome is going to be, just need to line up the proof.

My 2080 Strix started giving me trouble the first day. I'm returning it today for a 2080 Ti before my 30 days is up. Good thing I bought it locally.

I chose the Radeon VII over the 2080 due to the $180 in games. I also have had enough anxiety over space invaders I didn’t feel like WCing another card I have to worry about.

2080ti is a sweet card though with performance that can’t be touched. Look at the cards max tdp. You want something with some headroom unless you’re into flashing BIOs (which is easy).

Two weeks into running my two 2080 ti Founders Editions. The only issue I am having is that while they are connected via Nvlink, accelerated video makes my screen flicker. I noticed it at first when I would play video in Firefox, which by default has accelerated video on. If I turned off accelerated video in Firefox, the problem completely went away. I tested each card individually and didn't have any issues with hardware accelerated video on their own. Its only when they are connected via Nvlink. Another solution was to change a power setting in Nvidia Control Panel. I went into Manage 3d Settings and changed Power Management Mode from Optimal Power to Prefer Maximum performance. This kept the clocks of the memory and core at their rated speeds. Sitting idle, the top card would sit around 54c with that setting which is a little too warm for me so I changed it back and toggle it back to Maximum performance when I have a meeting (my companies meeting software uses hardware accelerated video and there's no option to disable it).

I don't think its a hardware issue. I'm pretty sure its driver related. I hope they fix it soon because its pretty annoying.

All this was just a bad displayport cable. I had an extra in my box-o-cables, plugged it in, and all of my flickering problems went away. I ran benches, ran accelerated video in firefox, pulled up the webcam in my work's meeting software, and even did some hardware transcoding, all without a single issue. I ordered a couple Vesa certified 8k Displayport 1.4 cables to replace both of mine with.

Had that exact issue yesterday. I had 2 DP cables that would flicker. Grabbed a Bizlink cable out of the closet (Much shorter cable) works perfectly.

Which cables did you go with?

As per this evening...

We can’t get the board to remain stable following driver load anymore. Stability has deteriorated significantly over time. I spent a couple hours with it today, the GPU shows corruption at windows load screen (immediately after loading driver), screen blinks, driver de-loads, code 49 in device manager. If I disable and re-enable the device, immediate corruption, rinse and repeat until a BSOD.

We are sending it out to our other lab for imaging/analysis on the package, DRAM, and board for any faults. We may have some early shots by end of next week, although analysis will take longer.

I returned my Asus Strix 2080 today to my local Canada Computers. The sales clerk said he's had over 20 returned this month alone. I was going to pick up another 2080 Ti but now I don't know. Are the RTX Titan's safe?

Honestly, we will likely never know the answer to that question. I can only imagine that the issues plaguing damn near every RTX card out there likely transfer across to the Titan as well. At what? 2500+ bucks I don't know who's buying those. Someone with a lot more free money than I have, lol.

I don't mind purchasing it. I just don't want to buy a 1080 since it's so old....

I'd say if you want the 2080 then just get that. But buy from a brand that has a good warranty, and you'll be all set.

Worst case, you have to do an RMA but this is not the end of the world.

Also, sending back to the manufacturer is probably better, as the replacement can be from a new batch (if you go back to the store, you are probably getting another one from the same shipment).

Bought an EVGA 2080 Ti Ultra XC Gaming 11GB card back in late November, it's still going strong to this date; I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Then again, I haven't really pushed it that hard, kind of scared to it.

Mailing it is such a hassle.

Interesting to hear how it goes bad on the driver loading. My EVGA 2080TI FTW3 just died randomly last night and while it works fine showing the BIOS post, the second Windows tries to load (what I'm assuming is the driver) it immediately BSODs.

If I use onboard video it works fine with the card disabled in the device manager but if I enable it I get a BSOD.

edit: Ignore the signature, that's from when I joined the forums.
