You know instead of tons of cores they could just up the speeds you get instead, I have my doubts about seeing massive core counts being available. Guess it all will depend on how well this shrink is going for them.
thread dripper?Man that thing is just dripping with threads!

thread dripper?
I think the rumoured Ryzen 3000 12c/24t at 4.2/5.0ghz would be enough for me, but I'm curious to see what kind of speeds they can get out of higher core count TR golden samples.
The thing you are going to hear is ... why do I need a Threadripper if I can get a 16 core regular Ryzen.
The differences are going to be rather big actually. Threadripper has more cache, way way more lanes, quad channel ram (if you can benefit from it) etc... So it remains a halo product. Where I hope the next threadripper shines is going to be direct CCX ram access instead of a cross over infinity fabric style that it has now. That might substantially increase throughput and HPC numbers.

What a fucking awful site that is. Open the page, see 1 image of a roadmap from AMD, a short text summary, and some random, completely unrelated video starts playing below it. Oh and ads EVERYWHERE. Can we give warnings next time we post a toms shardware link?
You miss the point. Its the fact that AMD has indicated a new Threadripper. Regardless of where it came from, Toms is not a fake news site, maybe not the best by any means, but now we as a community are now aware that for sure a 3000 series Threadripper is going to be released.
That is the whole point of why I even made this thread.
Don't think he was saying it was a bad news site, just that the ads there are terrible. I've had my toms tab hijacked by ads on several occasions, really irritating. You miss the point. Nah, just don't have an ad blocker on my phone. I've disabled JavaScript on the worst offenders.Tom's has ads? What did you do, whitelist them?
