Security Master(Cheetah) has removed caller ID&Block from the app. Explanation was Google Play's TOS no longer allows it.
Huh?
What does GP have to do with some apps not owned or developed by it? Why would they care, unless they are pushing their own caller ID apps. Anyway, SM seems to take up too much space, and do whatever other apps do, so I decided I no longer need it.

So, what are good caller ID apps?

Hiya isn't bad, the free version is fairly limited in caller ID, but does decently well with legit businesses and gives you a rough location, though. The paid version is supposed to be really good, but I'm too cheap to pay for apps. Call blocking works well, though it does have to ring once for it to kick in, but I think that's a limitation of the principle since it's on your phone and not at the carrier.

On Android, check with your carrier first.

Caller ID from TMo (powered by Hiya) is included for all One customers. And I'm pretty sure ATT, VRZ, and SPT all have something similar.

As for third party, hiya itself is pretty good. But I used CallApp: Caller ID and Reviewer (paid for the premium). It's awesome. It blocked everything. And it's also powered by Hiya. I just wanted the ability to record calls, and seems like CallApp's privacy policy is pretty good (they don't keep your contacts).

On iOS, good luck. I dunno why neither Hiya or Truecaller blocks shit. I also have TMo's Name ID install, and that's just a crippled down version that blocks things from carrier side unless I pay $5 a month...

I use Should I Answer in combination with MacroDroid. I use the first app to block telemarketers and unsolicited calls. I use MacroDroid to block a range of numbers with a wildcard if I get calls from similar numbers but the they change a couple of numbers at the end.

I was reading a few things on why call blockers on iPhones may suck. One, it's not a phone/dailer replacement. So maybe the app isn't running in the background - got killed by iOS. Two, your app just suck. Like nomorobo suck on iPhones.

I'm going to give Hiya another shot (cause I've paid for the yearly membership anyways), but this time I'll remember to open the app every time I finish using the phone.

Been using Hiya + Youmail . . . . No more 'no ring' to VM messages, and it tells me what calls are already marked as a telemarketer etc.

Chang3d, the issue with Hiya on iOS is that you can't kill the process or it stops working.
