BioWare's new IP: Anthem

Supposedly they are going to add "special" cosmetics to drops for finishing Strongholds at some point soon. Other than that, I would only waste the coin on Masterwork materials....and even then its so hideously expensive(5000 coin per 1 resource) its not worth it. I wouldn't waste coin on any of the crafting materials.

so currently no cosmetic items at all through loot drops or treasure chests?...everything is through the in-game store?...in the beta there were a lot of cosmetic items available which made me think they would be easier to obtain

Nope, they are all purchase only. There are a couple of vinyls obtained through challenges, but those challenges are a hilarious level of grind for a stupid vinyl.

Most people it seems, as Joe's Anthem review is the most watched review of them all (even at 50min), with millions of views beating out the reviews from gamespot, ign etc.

I probably shouldn't be surprised. There are millions of people that would rather watch other people play video games (and even pay for it) than play themselves.
I don't need an hour of reasoning for why you like or dislike a game. Especially when you tell me your feelings right in the title.

with the pre-order bonus, Legion of Dawn Legendary Ranger Armor Pack...are we supposed to have a separate Legion of Dawn part for Helmet, Arms, Legs etc?...I only see a Legion of Dawn Vinyl available (along with a Lvl 18 weapon)

Yes

I figured it out...the deluxe edition has sets for all of them...the standard edition only has an armor set for the Ranger...I have the Standard edition

Annoying bug made me do the dailies in 1 go , seems at the end of tyrant mines I keep geting searching for server connection problem ...

I completed the Tyant Mines with a group last night, but no matter what I do it's still tagged. There doesn't seem to be a way to un-tag anything that I can find.
It also seemed to hang post-mission, too. It gave me rewards and whatnot, but I didn't get any sort of breakdown of who got what.

Got the STORM last night and can see why its popular. Pretty cool to float above the battlefield and rain down some awesome damage but it has a glass jaw.

most of the missions are pretty easy Solo (Normal difficulty) but then I run into a few which all of a sudden get crazy hard with those Dominion enemies and sharpshooters all over the place etc

I feel like when playing solo that normal is too easy and hard is too difficult. Hard with a group usually feels about right. It's not that any of the enemies are doing anything particularly amazing, but you take tons of damage and do very little in return. With other people, that evens out. By yourself it's just a complete hassle. I did it for a couple missions that probably would have taken 10 minutes each on normal. Both were 45-minute marathons because I had to keep running away and waiting for my abilities to regen. My ammo kept running out and it was the only option.

Hard with a group usually feels about right...

for me playing Solo/Normal difficulty for the story missions is not about the difficulty...by playing in a group there's a high chance of missing out on important dialogue or story info if other players are too far ahead and trigger it

Definitely. There might as well not be a plot for muliplayer missions. If there is one, I can never tell what it's about. It must involve killing everything followed by flying to another place and doing it again and again :p Any dialogue seems to get washed out in the gunfire and people running ahead to kill whatever is next.
When playing solo it's certainly a little more present, but I'm finding the missions too easy (or too hard). With normal I might as well just stand out in the open and exchange gunfire. It's legitimately tough to die with how little damage you take and how much life drops.

I never understood why people would rather watch and pay to watch someone play video games...

I think some might have better horizontal movement, but in a straight line you basically never see anyone flying faster than anyone else.

Patch dropping today to improve the loot system.

  • A core problem with loot is that some inscriptions could show up and do absolutely nothing. Ie. physical damage +% on an elemental piece of gear, meaning the perk might as well not exist at all.
  • The solution was either to drastically increase the drop rate of gear because of how much garbage you’d have to sort through, or to fix the inscription system. BioWare has (correctly, I might add) chosen to fix the inscription system.
  • Gear will now drop with inscriptions that are relevant only to the item itself, or to your character overall. You still might get crappy rolls you don’t want like Harvest Bonus or something, but you will no longer see dead rolls on items that literally do nothing.
  • BioWare is going one step further and narrowing the rolls even more. As in, you won’t get an assault rifle that rolls a machine pistol ammo increase even if technically it could help the weapon in your other slot.

Saw that earlier....doesn't really fix the fact most of the stuff is still worthless drops.

They just rolled out a patch, but it doesn't include the changes I mentioned earlier. The loot changes will come in another patch releasing today or tomorrow.

Anthem Patch 1.04 - Changelog
  • The tethering timer for missions has been increased. Players should now have more time to catch up to their Squad before seeing a countdown timer.
  • The Swarm Tyrant encounter in the Tyrant Mine Stronghold can no longer be reset by the entire Squad exiting to the main menu and rejoining the session in progress.
  • Players are no longer able to reopen chests that had already been looted in Strongholds.

Then you are playing the wrong game. It was clear that this game has the same outlook for loot as Diablo does and that is what this game is.

The game feels far more like Destiny 2 than Diablo. Although with no multiplayer a lot of the gear grind doesn't matter in the same way.

You haven't played much Diablo have you?
I believe hes saying that like Diablo most of the drops are not useful after a certain point. I believe this is common with most looters. Once you find max level gear it becomes much more difficult to find things that are better/useful. These types of games are grinds by nature.

Even with a lot of the loot not being useful the loot tables in the Diablo games make the loot interesting and in both 2 and 3 the high-level loot is designed in a way to make various character builds viable. That doesn't seem to be the case for Anthem, making the loot not only useless but boring.

While you may be correct about the lack of build options compared to Diablo Its hardly fair to compare a game that been out two weeks to one thats had almost 7 years of updates and content. That said, last i checked the leader boards on diablo only had a few "viable" class builds for pushing GRs even after all this time.

And in those 7 years of Diablo you get the same builds recycled all of the time with little to no variation ....

Yeah, the very top end of these games always turn into one or two best builds, but below that you have a lot more room to play. We don't have to compare 7 years of Diablo III. We can even compare launch to launch. Launch D3 was terrible for many reasons, but it still handled loot great. The loot issue is probably my biggest issue with the game right now, at least until I reach the end-game. You don't get enough loot, what you get is boring, everything looks the same, and there seems to be very little room to play with builds. Even at lower levels straying from "optimal" power loadouts seems to make things more of a hassle than anything. The loot setup for the game just isn't fun or engaging.

why does Origin wait until you start up the game to download any new updates/patches?...why doesn't it just run in the background when you aren't playing (like Steam does)?...so annoying when I go to start up a new game, a message pops up telling me I need to install a new patch

Origin is weird about patches. Sometimes it will autopatch and sometimes not. You can always right-click the game and tell it to update, but its a shitty solution.

Do you have the autoupdate function enabled?

So I ran 5 strongholds to see if there was any improvement and there was a huge difference in loot for me and my squad. I got no less then 2 and one gave me 4 masterworks. I still haven't gotten a legendary yet but this is more in line what I was looking for. The best part is that they all had usable inscriptions.

So sounds like they reverted it back to how it was on drop chances.

Weird - mine does. I started patching the game when I opened Origin.

The notes don't say anything about an increased drop rate but after playing for almost 4 hours doing things with guaranteed at least one masterwork activites(GM level Legendary contracts and strongholds) no one in my crew got less then 2 masterworks or a masterwork and a legendary. Rngesus doesnt love us like that, I'm feeling a boost of some kind. Still getting whites and greens but that doesnt bother me as much since we are getting multi useful drops.
