I might be wrong, to me it seems as such.

There are a few differences, one the Qxx line have direct led array lighting as where the NU8000 has side lit led lighting. Also, the NU is LED based and does not have the QLED branding. I've tried to research the differences between the two but I am not finding a lot of information. Side by side comparisons at Microcenter where they have both on display ... I cannot see the difference.

This is why people should buy this display .... one, it's feature packed, high performance, native 120hz, super low input lag, well built, excellent fit and finish ... the biggest reason, it's cheap and you can actually buy it today .... This display is going to be a great hold-over until 4K 120hz / 144hz DP and HDMI 2.1 "Big Format Gaming Displays" make it on to the market over the next few years. This is all you need and if you have the room, give it a try. Sit down, get at least 4' distance between you and this display, load up your favorite content and get blown away. 120hz vs 60's is a game changer. I swear to you guys holding out for 40" ..... maybe you should reconsider. This 55" gets smaller everyday. We are literally talking an additional 12 to 14" diagonally.

Why don't you buy me one and we'll call it a day?

Yes, yes I am. Now please buy me one.
I bought 4 of them (just in case one had a stuck pixel) for a tripple screen setup and will give you the 4th one free.
Since you're homeless I'll just set it outside, I assume you'll find it.

I'm jealous ... not really, have the money just don't have the room. When you get them all setup take some pics. I had 3 x 40" at one time but killed my desk work area. Have a buddy who can build me an awesome desk but.

3 x 55" on a 10' desk that's 4 1/2 foot deep would be amazing.

I knew i shoulda added /s.
I want this tv so much, but alas I don't have enough space.
I have been sharing this thread everywhere I post, so hopefully some folks can get a deal on an awesome screen.

Anyone want to trade a 65" version for a NIB Radeon VII? They are worth the same according to eBay ;-)

If I didn't just buy Nu8000 75" as my gaming monitor for xbox one x and PC, I would trade ya! But I got t.v now waiting on card get here.

Amds website has Radeon VII's in stock right now

I picked up a refurbed 55" q6fn 2 weeks ago for $699 from microcenter. This thing is incredible. My only complaint is that freesync over hdmi doesn't work with nvidia. I run it in 1440p @120hz for shooters and 4k@60+hdr for everything else. I upgraded from a ku6300. One of the biggest impact gaming purchases I've ever made.

Glad to hear man. I love my NU8000 .... love the 1440p and 120hz .. .especially love the very low port latency.

Incredible BFGD display

KICK ASS!

Too big. I'm thinking about switching to a 4k TV but I'm also thinking no more than 46" or so. I appreciate the call out on a candidate though, thank you.

I'm using a Q7F 55" and it is amazing.

You might want an AMD GPU to drive FreeSync. At 4K HDR FreeSync with a Radeon VII I am getting around or over 60fps max settings in most games.

It is great.

It what about using 1440 120hz res? Tried that?

Yeah, 1440p 120Hz is very smooth and playable (input lag seems reduced and this also has a wider FreeSync range).

However, the upscaling does blur the image and at 55" the loss of quality is noticeable.

It can depend on the game. If you are using MSAA I find it still looks pretty good at 1440p. But the newer post-process AA techniques don't look as nice with upscaling.

That said, it is nice to have options.

After seeing the 55" in action on the console its freaking hard to look at my dell alienware 34" 1440 ultra wide 120hz pc monitor on my pc. Haha . Looks super tiny!

I'm debating caring my heavy ass pc up stairs to try it out on the TV!:)

Wife would kill me to buy another for my pc.. but why not? Could do 4k in some games and 1440 120hz in shooters.

Of course could just grab a 65" for the 2nd living room and steal the 55" for the pc.

Do these sets not do 1080P@120hz, which should scale evenly vs 1440P? That plus higher details should made up for the "loss from 1440p>>1080p no?

I am torn between this (for $997) and the Q65F for $1249 (both St Costco locally for those prices currently). Both also come with a free 3yr Square Trade warranty giving you 5 yesrs of total coverage.

The thing that is holding me back on the 65F is that it has the same backlight as the 8k I believe but you do get Quantum Dot.

This Samsung is an amazing BFGD ( Big Format Gaming Display ) if you're looking to game at 1440p @ 120hz or 1080p @ 120hz, 100hz or 75hz, etc.

World class input latency @ 9ms ... this is better than most gaming displays and you guys can research this yourself.

2ms pixel response time

HDR / 1000 Nit Brightness / 10-Bit Panel

A F'ing steal at $799

I just got home from buying the 65" version to replace the 55" in the 2nd living room (sons gaming screen) so I can steel that 55" for my pc monitor! Hahaha. Wife hates me over it.. and its gona be some work to remove the 55" from the wall mount to mount the 65".. but oh well..

Amazon.com sells the 65" currently at $916.97. Bestbuys sale price is $999.99. So got them to price match it. Lucky as Amazon sells it as all the other size 8000 screens are being sold from a 3rd party.

So how can ya pass up 10" more screen for $116.97 more??

Was sweating it though as amazons prices yoyo quick! Swear I seen that 65" for like $886 days ago for about 20 mins.

Gona be lucky if I can deal with the extra huge screen on the pc. Corner shot desk and I'll need to pull it off the wall a foot or so to get back from the screen like 4'. Wish me luck!!

Going for it!

tempted to buy the 65" for my new house when i buy it. the first living room will get my current $250 55". The second living room where mine and my wifes PC + VR will go will get this one. Thanks for the post.

Go for it! Lifes short.. enjoy.

I'd grab the 82" for the main living room replacing the sony 75" in a heart beat if I had not bought the 55 and 65" for other rooms. Nuts as I spent 5k on that Sony 4 years ago and today I could grab a 82" under half the price. Back when I bought that 75", in order to score a 80"+ TV it was like 20k. Haha..

Have a 82" DLP in the basement that was our main screen back when and it would be nice to get back to that size in 4k.

So my logic is that, a lot of guys here and elsewhere have 2 or 3 and even possibly 4 monitors on their desks or around their desks, wall, stands, etc, many in fact. If you think about it, a 55" display is basically all of those monitors but without the bezels.

The 55" gets smaller and smaller everyday for me. There is no eye strain if you create enough distance, 4+ feet. I love it. Very enjoyable work space for me with tons of screen real-estate and the gaming immersion is unbelievable and if you have a super comfortable office chair, movies are great as well. Loving the "BFGD LIFE"

I'm back gaming on the 55" TV again (Q7F). It is so great.

If you're going to go with Samsung, get an AMD card. FreeSync is amazing paired with this TV. Especially with HDR.

I'd recommend the Radeon VII, as older cards won't cut it at 4K. I guess you could swing with Vega 64 if you are okay with 1440p120.

It might be a little big as a daily driver, but as a secondary screen (or secondary rig) it should be great.

There are many of us that have been gaming on large displays for many many years here on HardOCP .... lot of us are ex Westy 32's owners. I had a W1 and a W3.

Glad to see so many people here picking up this set. At 1440p @ 120hz it's absolutely doable for Ultra Settings as where the 4K is simply not at 120hz and above. This is absolutely the right tool for the right job and the price is amazingly RIGHT.

Having serious issues with the 55" as a PC monitor. I cant get it to stick to 60hz at 4k. Always reverts back to 23/24hz. Then I finally managed to get the monitor to be seen correctly by the pc aws a PC monitor or atleast show all the correct resolutions as in it shows 1440 at 120hz finally in the nvidia control panel and it worked there for a min. Started up BF5 and the screen was all white and grey lines! Could barely make out the menu and managed to change the res to 1440 at 120hz and it only fixed it on the 2nd start up of the game. Then I made the mistake of while gaming to turn on the gaming mode and accidently turned on free sync and bam.. turned the game off and screen was all messed up again.

So baicly I have been fitting with the pc to see the monitor correctly but it cant..

So whats the deal? I have the input set to PC. HDR mode turned on.. cant change the hz to 60 at 4k. And the normal options for under PC monitor mode with 1440 screen res is not there to choose.

Is there a specific monitor .inf file I need to use to get this thing to behave?

I'm using a evga 1080ti ftw3.

Any experts chime in here and tell me other than the obvious HDR capabilities, how this generation compares to my JU7100? It's been a great monitor for me the past 3½ years but my biggest complaint since owning this model was the gamma shifting on the screen when looking at it from different perspectives. Unless I was staring directly into the middle of the screen the colors were constantly being thrown off. Has this been resolved with the N series?

Ok, do you have UHD on? It's under SETTINGS - GENERAL - EXTERNAL DEVICE MANAGER

you need this on before you can do 120hz @ 1440p .... once UHD is enabled you will instantly get that resolution availableto you under AMD or nVidia

I will share my settings here tomorrow if I can remember.

eclypse Yes, make sure UHD Color is enabled. Also be sure you have a new cable and it's not too long (I think 12 feet or below is okay).

But it must be the latest standard HDMI 2.0, check on Amazon that the cable says it supports 4K 60z, many older ones do not (and even some new ones might not either, I've went through a number of bunk cables).

I would also suggest you do a clean install of your video driver but also, get a quality HDMI cable, look for at least 18 awg thickness and something rated 4K, stick around 6' if you don't need anything longer than that. Sounds like a cable issue to me

Pity BB wants $190 to ship this thing to me. Well that and I have no room to use it as a monitor. Desk space is too limited and I don't have a wall behind my desk that I can attach it to. Seems like a pretty damn good set to use as a monitor though. I've used a TV as a monitor in the past and its a pretty good experience for gaming and watching videos.

I got it.. The UHD setting is under General / Exterrnal Device Manager. HDMI UHD Color options. Its well out of the picture settings.. that is dumb. Swapped HDMI cables as well.. both are a quality 12' cable. Test it for gaming tomorrow..

Any worry about screen burn in on this?

rtings did some burn in tests with these Samsungs, there was nothing to worry about.

It is dumb. It wasn't that way on the KS series from 2016, not sure about 2017 series which I think might have been MU? not sure.

Yeah not my first 4k monitor on the pc. Used a 40" samsung I think from 2016 and it wasn't hard haha.

Thanks again guys for the help! Didn't think I'd get a quick answer that late.. spent hours screwing around searching online and come up blank. Should of just asked here right away heh.

Only TVs you need to worry about burn-in with are OLED, plasma and the DLP TVs. Plasma and DLP haven't been produced for years
