Gigabyte Will Allegedly Lay Off Sales and Marketing Staff

I agree with the amount of motherboard segmentation just getting out of control stupid but they are doing the same with GPUs. I was trying to look up a zotac model recently that was on the FS/T forum and good god they had like 5 different submodels of the 1070 or whatever it was where the only difference was slightly different boost clocks or minor cooler changes with RGB, etc.
 
My advice? Never ever buy a Gigabyte product again. Not after this news. The way things are going, we are going to lose some of these smaller motherboard companies. This could be a sign.

included in what Dan said most of the sales are also OEM's/SI sales. cyber power, etc use gigabyte, ASUS, and MSI boards, some of which are completely custom configurations that can only be purchased through them and aren't sold on the retail market.

My current X399 Aorus extreme are actually my first Gigabyte motherboard, before this i have only owned a case they made.
The board i think perform okay, but i will have to agree on the software.
RGB software are lackluster and have issues it seem.
Their APP center software, keep wanting me to update drivers for intel ( wire and wifi network ) and Asmedia ( USB ) on the board, even if i have updated those via APP center.
 
I don't use any of the software bundled with my mobos.

I like Gigabyte boards.

I am confused by the proliferation of models.

I want my UEFI (especially fan control) to be improved. (Make it more clear about what the options do, organize it better.)

Edited to add: my sig shows my currently running PCs, in the order I built them. I went from Asus to Gigabyte for my mobos...and my next one will be also be a Gigabyte.

Gigabye is the #2 supplier of non OEM boards. If they go under we are screwed.
 
I know some are saying market saturation, but I also think quality and customer service have really suffered as of late.

I picked up Asus deluxe 170, top of the line board, few years ago. Asus was supposed to be this premier brand, and the board I got was over $300 with all the bells and whistles.

I went through two boards because the first one I got didn't function and having lived in with this one for a few years I've had nothing but problems.

Tech support generally is a nightmare as well.

I really think that has a lot to do with it.

If you want to know if ASRock is a better brand now? They're one of the few I've heard some good things lately about and thinking my next build will be AMD Ryzen.

yeah agree, ASrocks isn't much better at least on the AMD side either. gigabytes bios are pretty much the one reason i won't even consider them with an AMD platform.

they're kind of hit or miss, on the AMD side the only board i'd even consider is the taichi, some of the lower end boards are meh and the SLI boards just feels like an after though to probably try and get as much profit out of the overpriced fee's they're having to pay to nvidia. but yeah i'll probably be picking up a x570 taichi to replace my x370 taichi when they come out. what you get with the price is pretty damn hard to beat for a high end board.

Yup cause ASUS and its amazing customer service is the best. My 8700K is running rock solid on my Gigacrap board while my brother's ASUS Hero board murdered his 8700K along with many other people but ASUS rocks lol
 
Out of all the hardware I've owned I've had more Gigabyte branded hardware fail in some sort of way than any other brand. From motherboard not working correctly to GPUs needing to be RMA'd due to various reasons.

Out of all that I still bought a Gigabyte X399 board for my TR and it gives me issues as well. Though the only issue I've found so far is the fact that the fan headers seem to work when they want to.

I recently bought a GA-970A-UD3P mobo because I forgot how troublesome the BIOS was in the GA-990FXA-UD3 I bought 2 years earlier.

On the 970A-UD34P you can run two sticks of DDR3 @ 1866 but add two more sticks and 1333 will be your new top speed.

I'm going with MSI or ASUS from now on ...
