The Nvidia 1660 TI Will Launch on February 15 at $279

Yes, please reward nvidia for it's shitty, anti-consumer practices by buying this because it has a green logo.

If it can play games in 4k I'm in. Cause my GTX 780 can't.
depends on your definition of "play" and "games"... on one hand, i ran some older games at 4K on an overclocked 4GB GTX 670; on the other hand, there's scenarios where even a Titan RTX can struggle...

all that said, it looks like the 1660Ti will be about on-par with the GTX 1070 (VRAM notwithstanding) so it should run anything from like 2015 or earlier at 4k okay but will probably struggle with new gamez unless you crank the settings way down.

the thing with the "can it game at 4k" question is that it's a moving target. The 780Ti, 980Ti, and 1080Ti were all just barely "4k" cards when released but then the graphics bar gets raised again. I doubt midrange (xx60 series) cards will be much good for 4k until 8k becomes the new high-end target.

blah blah blah that went a bit off the rails

So you want a Vega VII. :D:D

If only my monitor was on board with that solution, then I'd be set...

Wait, is the joke on me for paying the g-sync tax 3 years ago? :D

More a tongue in cheek kind of joke.... but damn. It hits close to home.

EDIT: jokes aside, a proper Freesync monitor and the new Raedon VII would be a hell of a combo. Shame on me for thinking Turing would be priced decently...

with the lack of ray-tracing and DLSS titles plus AMD releasing their new cards this summer I'm guessing Nvidia releases some sort of refresh this summer...otherwise Nvidia has no new cards until 2020

God I hope something comes out sooner then 2020, I ain't about to plop down mortgage money + a few week at the bar for a new graphics card.

Here here to non-RTX Turing models hopefully coming soon!

A back on topic edit:

The GF is eyeballing one of these now, should be a great replacement for her 1050Ti, delegate that guy to HTPC duties.

What is with all the ridiculous comments about 8gb of vram on the 1660? The 1660 is a 192 bit card so 8gb is not even an option anyway. And as others have already said, it would make no sense as even the 2060 only has 6 gb.

Maybe you should have thought about a proper 4k card when you bought your 4k monitor. And I will go ahead and save you the suspense by letting you know that the 1660 will not be a very suitable 4k card for modern games.

Nvidia looks like they will be alot stronger in the mid range this time.

The 1660ti should be very similar to a 980ti for $280. Sounds like a good deal over the RX590

The 1660 will most likely be just ahead of the 1060, even if it uses GDDR5X instead of GDDR6. At $230, it should give a better fight to the RX580.

The 1650 could be the most significant addition to Nvidia's midrange lineup. It would provide a real alternative to the RX570 instead of the pathetic 1050ti. I would suspect it to use a 128 bit bus with 4 GB of GDDR5x. At $180, it could be an efficient beast for 1080p.

so... maybe on par with a 1070? For the past 2+ months you could buy a 1070/vga56 for $299 or less (retail with a game bundle). This card is like... underwhelming.

Just a friendly reminder to potential buyers of this card... with markup, tax and shipping you're at around $300 to $350.

$300 to $350 buys you a good used 1070 or 1080. Good luck.

Bingo we have a winner, you are right on target.

I have some more news for you guys at hardocp,Navi will have Ray Tracing as will the next Xbox 2.
https://wccftech.com/next-xbox-raytracing

So all you AMD biased fans here its time to talk good about Ray Tracing now to practice for why its good for Navi, that includes the staff.

Im glad pricing is coming down to the masses (even if Nvidia are the definition of asshats), these cards will be much more futureproof then the 10 series with hardware async baked in. 6GB is going to limit the card down the road still though (more so on the 2060). Looking forward to seeing it compared to Navi this summer, 5ish months away! Id never buy one because of Nvidia's ethics, but I do love the competition driving the whole market forward!

I think the RTX2060 will be a good seller. Its basically a cheaper GTX1070Ti+RTX+DLSS and that's a win in my book.
Of all the RTX cards I think this is the one that makes sense price/performance wise.

But it sails right under the bar for ray tracing performance @1080p today. So then you're only getting one for the DLSS, which isn't exactly a compelling selling point.

IMO as it is right now. Its a good alternative to a GTX1070Ti as its cheaper and faster and could only get better if its capable of doing RTX/DLSS at playable framerates.

AFAIK BFV should perform well with RTX/DLSS, but that doesn´t mean that other RTX games will...

So in the end I think its a good card with the potential to become a great one.

Only time will tell.

BTW as I have a GTX 1070Ti right now, I feel like I have no real choices for upgrading. But I might get one to replace my sons GTX1070 if it ends up performing well under RTX

What are you even talking about? What 4k monitor?

What do you think I mean? You talked about wanting a video card that can play games at 4K because your current 780 can't so is it a stretch to think you have a 4k monitor? If you were talking about DSR then you should have said that. But either way this new card is not suitable for modern games at 4K and you would know that if you kept up with hardware at all.

$350 is solidly in the used 1080 arena...

That was one of the reasons I ditched all FE cards after the 1080ti I bought I couldn't stand it.

Hang on a second have you seen the article on here about the 2060 and bfv ray tracing performance?

1060 6GB - $210 on sale
1660 3GB - $230. Same speed but half the ram? Progress!

I haven't seen one for under $400, much less $350.

Ok, fair enough. Do you mind sharing your local demographic with us? Is your local population 10K ... 20K ... 50L .... 100K? There are a lot of local economic factors that determine this. Here in Kansas City, and you guys can come check if you want, but I see 1080's for under $400 fairly often.

The 1080 is ... 100% faster than the 1660 ti ? I dunno, something like that and for the same money.

Here is one listed 2 days ago for $300 and I bet he / she would take $265 or $275 if pressed.

Yo, just keep your money smart ya'll.

Protips on buying a used video card. is the seller a brogamer that gets high, is he tidy. Try and figure out the environment in which the video card is coming from. Did he mine? You guys can ask trick questions. Tell him you want to use the card to mine cypto and see if he opens up about having used that card himself to mine. Having the box is a very good sign. People keep this shit if they care about their cards. I see it all the time. Is the dude married, job. Responsible? There are a lot of little things you can look for that will erase or ease any potential in buying a bad video card. Another cool trick is getting the seller to come over and install the card for you. I do this all the time and if the seller has nothing to hide, they will normally do it. I've had at least 4 video cards installed into random systems and tested out over the past 3 or so years. I could write a book on this. But I am the "foot fcking master when it comes to giving messages, I have my technique down and everything."

The RX 590 is already down to $260 for some models, with free games.
Maybe on a purely price/$ aspect, the rx590 still might win, but the 1660ti will offer better efficiency among other aspects.

Just because you managed to find a $210 1060, doesn't mean that is the typical price. Moreover, where was it stated that the 1660 will be 3 GB only? It might not be GDDR6, but I doubt it will be a 3gb card

Just bought a 1080 for around that price Nvidia can shove this card somewhere nice.

My guess is the GTX1660Ti will have 6gb DDR5X ram and perform like a GTX 1070

It’ll be ~10-15% under a 1070 given the cuda core counts they gave.

Price seems a bit high given it’ll basically be competing with the RX580.

A used card is cheaper than a new card? Wait till word of this gets out!

Yeah I know right. I just found out, like those work from home adds I honestly thought it was BS but it works. To bad I accidentally shared this knowledge, I really want people to buy the 1660 because it is a better product and is new TM

gee, that's the same day Metro Exodus is scheduled to be released ... what a coincidence :cautious:

If you're not in a hurry, leaks regarding Navi show that they will hit into these and smaller price-points with some pretty competitive hardware. Of all projected Navi leaks/info, it seems most likely that there will be parts right down to the sub 200 and 200-400 range with great performance. The real question is if the highest tier Navi this year is planning to come close to the Radeon VII and opinions are split; some are concerned that the highest end Navi will be close to the Radeon VII at a much lower price point thus causing an issue, while others will feel that the VII will have a performance lead across the board for the foreseeable future until another high end card arrives.

Regardless, Navi sounds a much better alternative for those buying in the low-gaming to mid+ range at very least, as opposed to supporting Nvidia.

Both companies are bad none is better than the other, raised prices across the board. We are headed to the mecha of pricing where low range (1050) will be $350 its happened before why not do it again.
