Intel has announced it is taking preorders for its new RealSense Tracking Camera T265. The Intel RealSense Tracking Camera T265 will allow developers to build autonomous devices, delivering high-performance guidance and navigation. The T265 uses proprietary visual inertial odometry simultaneous localization and mapping (V-SLAM) technology with computing at the edge and is key for applications that require a highly accurate and low-latency tracking solution, including robotics, drones, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality. The T265 excels in situations where GPS isn't available such as a warehouse or agricultural usages.

The Intel T265 uses an Intel Movidius Myriad 2 vision processing unit (VPU) and motion sensors to enable it to be integrated into devices such as a mower that cuts perfectly precise swaths in a yard or field. It can use a combination of known and unknown data to navigate to its destination while avoiding obstacles such as humans and buildings. By using inside-out tracking, the device doesn't rely on external sensors to understand the environment. 6-degrees-of-freedom (6DoF) inside-out tracking is supplied by two onboard fish-eye cameras; each with a 170-degree range of view. The T265 costs $199 and will be available for shipping on February 28, 2019.

"Understanding your environment is a critical component for many devices. The T265 was designed to complement our existing Intel RealSense Depth Cameras and provide a quick path to product development with our next-generation integrated V-SLAM technology." -- Sagi Ben Moshe, vice president and general manager, Intel RealSense Group

Hrrrrnnnggggg... V-SLAMming.. I remember doing lots of that in my younger years. XD

Describes me as well. I want one....But I have no idea why.

It is all part of the brain washing that has been slowly eroding the walls of our natural defenses. It is how they will, eventually, take control and then KILL US ALL!

Better increase funds to Homeland Security cause some douche, or group of douches, is going to use this for not good things.
