Friend brought in a OEM-looking package of Windows 10 Home x64, part # KW9-00129. Everything I have seen on searches indicates it is a PL/Polish version, unless my search-FU is sucking it today LOL. Did a US-en install from my normal USB thumb drive, key won't activate, says it's for a different version of Windows. Are there any websites out there with lists of what the different part #'s for Windows 10 are?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to tell him he got boned by a eBay seller and needs to get a hold of them.

EDIT (Update): According to friend, he ordered this from fleaBay and according to bid he was ordering KW9-00140m which matches the part # on Newegg and I am guessing what he should have gotten. Sounds like the seller FUBAR'd and sent wrong package. Just going to tell him to contact seller.

i wouldn't think what ever language version would matter anyway...sounds like he installed pro version and only bought home serial...Something along these lines

I installed the Win 10 Home x64 from my USB flash drive that I use for new builds. He brought in the package and I used the key inside it. Both are Home keys. He's still waiting to hear back from the seller. I got the machine finished just shy of a proper key + activation. He did go back to the auction page and it said it was supposed to be the KW9-00140 version that was buying.

Windows product keys are worldwide language it's the version that you install that determines the language is (keys are only specific to home and Pro, if your system is currently running home and is activated make sure you pick the home version when you're installing Windows if it's pro then obviously Pro if it doesn't ask that means the computer already has the product key built into the uefi BIOS)

Press I don't have a product key (as long as you picked correct version be it home or pro it will auto activate when you get Internet)

go to a Windows computer download the Windows Media creation tool and from there you can customise what language you want it to install it's recommended to pick whatever your native language is so you don't have to install your language pack once you've installed Windows like in my case it's United Kingdom because by default even though my computer set United Kingdom the windows creation tool automatically picks en-us instead of en-gb which is stupid
