World of Warships Enters Open Beta!

How do you earn it? I don't see a mission for it.

Looks like I'm on stage 3

The base XP one is always the hardest to get done.

Ok. What Am I missing here....

In the missions to earn the PEF, you have to complete a mission in...

The PEF.

How the fuck is that supposed to work?

Shipception.
x
Wah wah wah what?

I think I get it though. I think I only need to finish TWO of the missions at level 3 to get to level 4 and get the PEF.

You are right. I was closer than I realized.

I just completed the 3 kills in Shiny-Horse (I had forgotten just how damned fun and good that ship is). One more mission to go. I think.

Wait... Do I have to finish EVERY one of those Economy missions to get that POS ?

I'm on stage 4 but.. dayum.....

Yep, thats it for me. Uninstalling this game, I wish I had never spent money on it. They're never going to make the PVP any fun at all and I can't stand playing co-op forever. Trying to play a tier 8 premium ship all you get is tier 10s that hide in the back of the map, just had 12 ships in 2 squares against the red line while the enemy capped all the bases and pointed out. If this was rare it would be ok but it happens literally every match. I'm just done with it.

wouldnt be a WG title if it had good MM....

It is kind of sad because I generally like this game but I dont really play the PVP much. I think its the HE mechanic that kills me. I understand what they were going for with it but it can just be too powerful or spammed too much. I haven't really enjoyed it much since they change the destroyer mechanics ages ago. I am some what interested in the new carrier play though.

You just have to work around that. If you find yourself in a yolo team? Fuck it. Go with the flow. Go in there and steal-kill every fucking thing you can. Hey, if they don't want to win the game, I'm going to take away from them as much as I can :)

I just make a point of knowing where the he spammers are (Akit, Haru, Atlanta, etc...) and try to avoid them. Just don't give them the chance.

Now, if I"m IN one of those ships, I'm gonna do my best to roast their ass LOL

Anyone else seen this bug?

On rare occasions, say once a week or so, while playing if I hit enter to chat, it instead changes the video mode to full screen windowed.

Yeah. I know :)

If I hit enter again, it switches back to full screen mode.

If I exit the game and come back in it is fine. Until the next time.

You never know when it's going to strike because you have to be in a game and try to use chat to trigger it.

Are you sure you're not holding alt when you hit enter? alt + enter changes it to windowed fullscreen or whatever for any game

Yep. Absolutely sure.

It is really, really weird.

But I didn't know that . Thanks :)

I had a 120k plus game in the Haragumo this evening. I know for some of you that doesn't seem brilliant, but for me it is :)

Unfortunately I purchased a pink dress in that game too :( Almost the exact same time I was hitting the launch button a team Republique at full boosted speed can flying (and I mean FLYING) by me on the port side. I tried to stop but the internal lag between brain and hand (which gets longer the older you get.. Haruuupmph) and off they went. 5 Hara torps dead center into the port side. If it wasn't a team ship it would have been fucking beautiful.

I Just spent 2 games in the Conqy to burn it off.

I always seem to get myself into trouble with DD's and I stop playing the for a while :)

USA - Done
IJN - Done

Working on UK now. I have a Legendary Conqueror so this should go quick.

This is SO weird. A team with NO SHIPS ALIVE wins. Ah, the power of the millisecond :) The last 30 seconds are wild.

Holy shit what a tough loss. My first Kraken in a long time.

The JB sure has a high "Kerplunk!" factor. It LOVES detonating ships at long range :)

And to prove what kind of asshole plays this game, I managed to manage my ship and retain near full health until the very end, sinking FIVE enemy ships, and a team mate chats "LOL Jean Bart full health" like I've been sitting back on the line the whole game. Hopefully he realized what an asshole he was after he saw the score.

Sheesh.....

My 5th kill came in the last microsecond of the game. Literally.

I was the last ship, and was focused as you can imagine. I had taken one set of torps from a cruiser, and he swung around and hit me with the second salvo. I had my finder down on the mouse button waiting for the reload to complete. AS my ship was blowing up, the guns loaded and went off, killing the cruiser LOL It happened so fast you can't even see the cruiser explode.

I was actually going for the RAM to secure my Kraken since we had no chance of winning anyway. Git it the hard way :)

I have it recorded. I need to edit it a bit but will put the game on YT.

It's really quite boring until 8 minutes in.

When I watch video's and the presenter goes over their captain set up, I almost never see anyone using the one-point Incoming Fire Alert skill.

I think this is one of the most useful skills on the entire page.

If I'm doodling along shooting at my favorite target, the second I see that thing flash I'm hard port or stbd, depending on the situation, and in a damned fine number of times it causes their entire salvo to miss.

Why don't more people use this incredibly helpful skill?

Because it isn't all that helpful. I think the only ship I have it on, and I'm not even sure about that, is the Des Moines because I had one point left over with nothing to do with it.

Incoming Fire Alert and Priority Target are both spatial awareness substitutes which, in my opinion, blunt player skill growth. A long time ago, when Situational Awareness was a 1 point skill (the ! spotted notification) and not implemented into the game for everyone equally (which was a great thing to add) I didn't take the skill. Knowing your surroundings is part of player development. If you don't and you get rekt, you deserve it, simply put.

I see your point, but if you have 12 ships out there you can’t see everything at once. I don’t see an indicator simply saying someone shot at you replaces any “special awareness”

Well what are you doing with that information when you're spotted and "targeted" by 9 players? You're fucked already. But you should know that to begin with because you're in a Pensacola in the middle of a cap on Two Brothers. PT has a very specific use against destroyers and even then I think it's still a bit overrated. Almost everything can be gleaned from the minimap especially now with last known position, detection ranges, etc.

IFA is certainly a spatial awareness crutch: you're having the game let you know when someone fires at you from range to which the immediate response is to slow down. If you're aware of your surroundings and what's going on in the match you should know the threats against close to you and at range. Granted, a lot of this is multitasking and being used to dealing with this type of stuff in far, far faster environments but this game is so fucking slow I have no idea how people can't do it

Well, I guess I’m just a plebe then. All I know is I dodge a lot of shit with it:)

Wow. I called this during an in-game chat last night LOL

Update 0.8.0 Is Postponed – Here's Why
General News

Learn more on the World of Warships website

The third session of the Public test version 0.8.0 will start soon. This update will present the most important change in recent times - a new kind of CV gameplay.

Since we launched the first open beta, we have made many improvements and changes, fixed bugs, worked on the balance and stability of the version. Most of them have been made thanks to your feedback, comments and suggestions.

We have also taken into account the feedback from the first and second session of the Public test 0.8.0 and want to work a little more on the version. Therefore, Update 0.8.0 will be released one week later. The game will be updated not on January 23 and 24, as planned, but at the end of the month – on January 30.

Planned improvements associated with the AA mechanics include:
  • Addition of more visual effects for AA fire when the ‘Defensive AA Fire’ consumable is activated.
  • Creation of a visual priority AA sector, showing where AA fire is concentrated.
  • Removal of the patrol zone of a fighter for destroyers, cruisers and battleships from the minimap as this information is of little use and can confuse and pollute the minimap. In this case, the fighters will still be displayed in the game world, allowing players to use them as a cover from enemy aircraft;
  • Changing the mechanics of the priority sector: now it will not increase the number of explosions, but the constant average damage per minute.
What will happen to the activities rolled out in version 0.7.12?
They will be extended, and you will have an additional week to:

  • Fight in Clan battles.
  • "Knock off" your remaining snowflakes.
  • Complete the event "In the Name of His Highness!" and receive the premium battleship tier VI Prinz Eitel Friedrich.
  • Participate in the "Mighty Prinz" Campaign, earning yourself the five researchable Tier VI ships with permanent New Year-inspired camouflage.
However, please note that the combat missions "Nerves of Steel" will expire as initially planned and will not be available for completion after January 25.

Thank you for your patience and attention. See you in battle!

Kronstadt. I’ve really developed a hatred for this ship.

It isn’t dependable. It’s made out of citadels easily hit even at an angle.

The gun angles suck.

The dispersion is horrifically unreliable.

The repair party sucks. Very little damage is recovered.

Screw this ship.

OMG it's finally done. I have no idea why I ground this other than the fact it was there. The prize isn't really much of a prize.

Flambass recently had a video where he stated people don't enjoy the game like they should because they are always having to grind something. I agree 100%

Given that grinding something is 90% of the business model of a free to play game that seems rather short-sighted.

Something to grind keeps people playing and so long as people continue to play they'll keep paying to at least some degree.

It's not a grind if you enjoy playing the game. That being said, if you're going to only buy one thing from the Premium shop then buy a year of premium time but only when its on sale. Premium time makes everything easy when it comes to grinding. Don't get hung up on buying premium ships in their store as you can earn some in-game using coal and free XP, namely the Musashi.

I did a troll AA Build on the PEF, jesus that thing has some crazy long range AA :) Then I did the same thing with the Kii.... I'll never go after either one of those with a CV unless it's a last resort, or they are bottom tier

Yeah, you know I was noticing I was hearing the AA go off, and plane kills popping up every now and then, yet had no idea where the planes were LOL

I've played like 50 games in the PEF so far, and I've been able to citadel an enemy ship exactly once.

Perhaps the better term is progression since that's less an emotionally-connected descriptor. But that doesn't change that the best way to keep people playing is to dangle another carrot out in front of them. Steel ships are the worst carrot they've introduced so far.

I'm fond of the ship, at it's tier it's fun to play, it pens just fine :p

I am not looking forward to the CV re-work at all. I put a lot of time and money into them and now WG is completely changing the way they should be played. Can't even spot torpedoes anymore so bye bye spotting and scouting for your team.

I look forward to sitting my ass on the couch and dive bombing folks on my TV. My four year old could probably handle playing it too.

But yeah, it’s totally screwing the current vested CV players.
