Resident Evil 2 Remake Demo

RE2 was, in my opinion, hands down the best in the entire series. Super stoked for this.

Re2 was also my fav re of all time. I tried 4 and didn't get why it was so popular. Hope this remake can bring re back from the dead!

As good as it looks, I'm not touching it until they rip Denuvo out of it. Nor am I surprised PC gets the shaft for a demo, either.

Just downloaded remotely with my Xbox one app.

Can’t wait to try it out in a few minutes. Looks incredible!

I remember when my pops took me to a local frys electronics to pick up the 2 disc original.

Frickin amazing game.

I was skeptical at first but the demo got me excited for it now! They really did a good job of making it feel like an older style resident evil game with their new controls/camera view. I played it on the Xbox One X and it ran buttery smooth! 60fps too which is always nice for console. I’ll try it later today on the PC and PS4 when they are released.

PC specs anywhere?
On the Steam store page. I also believe they were posted in the main thread when they were revealed last June.

Why would they pay to put Denuvo into a free demo? If anything they've just given crackers a day or two lead time.

I guess to prevent fuckery where you could somehow substitute the final game files in.

Runs pretty good. Very VRAM hungry game as well @ 4k. Easily uses 12GB if you max out settings.

What the hell was being advertised at the end of the game? There as like a cube man running around in some sewers. What was that?

Just looked into it, apparently there is an end to the demo....

People are speed-running it in under 3 mins heh

I played through the demo but didn't go back and check the doors after getting one of the keys, not even sure if that key would open the other doors. I've bought the full game and am ready to play it. Looking forward to taking my time playing through.

LOL, they lied, the demo ends after the first level, even if your time isn't up yet. I easily clicked NO at the end.

You can start over with your remaining time. But yeah, I would have preferred the demo be open-ended and just stop once you hit the 30 minutes. Plus, a few minutes were just unskippable cutscenes.

EDIT: After watching that speedrun above, I guess you can skip the cutscenes, but you have to pause first? Odd...

I went into the game not knowing that there is a limit to progress in the demo, so I wasn't rushing, and still got to the end.

Actually skipping the cut-scenes by first pausing is a good thing, so you don't accidentally skip them. And that's two positives in one:

  1. Cutscenes are skippable
  2. You can pause during cutscenes
Both are often overlooked in games.

However overall the demo didn't make me want this game.

I'm curious about the window boarding item. Are zombie respawns going to be a thing? Will I need to block windows to keep the halls from being perpetually populated with zombies? Regardless, I played the demo on PC and used a trainer to stop the clock. I enjoyed it and look forward to playing the game when it's released.

I prefer the method that most games use, which is making it so you have to hold a button down for X amount of time. At least then you know for sure that it's skippable.

Why, this way you don't know? If you find the pause key which is escape, it is written there that you can skip it. It's not very hard to figure out.

I'm just saying it's an unnecessary second step, and I wasn't even aware you could skip the cutscenes until watching that video.

It's a fine way to do it, but the way every other game does it is easier.

More like 8-9GB at 4K if you actually monitor its usage; its in-game number is pretty far off according to DF, which is why I came here to post this:

I would prefer to play this on my PS4 Pro since all I have is a GTX1060 to run it on PC, but I got it for free with my son's graphics card (RX 570 8GB) that I got him for his build we did for Christmas. So I'm going to see if I can game stream it to my Shield TV in my living room with my PS4 controller or something, or my Steam Link of that doesn't work somehow. I've never used Game Stream and last time I tried to use my PS4 controller with my Steam Link, my PC kept picking it up as an Xbox controller for some reason even though it showed the PS4 button prompts just fine when played locally (so USB pass-through wasn't working right or something).

Sucks that they're using an unlocked frame rate on consoles though; I would have much preferred a locked 30/60 FPS if possible, so hopefully they add that option into the final game at some point. I guess I'll be trying to lock it at 60 on my 1060 at either maxed IQ at 1080p or lower IQ at 1440p.

It's very odd that the PS4 Pro has a considerably higher frame rate as well, that shouldn't be the case unless the X has some more IQ stuff turned on that seems to negligibly improve the image. I thought it seemed to be running at 60 FPS on my Pro when I played the demo on it, but I did notice some sporadic drops, esp. with the animations being halved on enemies at a distance. Hopefully they fix that as well in the final version.

i used the free apps to enjoy the demo for almost 2hrs.....i liked it and will probably buy the game. (i really miss getting the free game codes with my vega64 but i only paid 350) played really good on my setup and seems comparable to mankind divided graphics wise. its a dx12 game that uses all my cards extra vram no problem...mater of fact those with 8gb+ vram will probably come in handy
