Resident Evil 2 being officially remade!

The change to over-the-shoulder I think is a great one. Let's face it, the old style of static camera sucked for anything even remotely like combat. After playing RE4/5, I wouldn't want to go back.
I don't care what the angle is as long as it gives the feeling of claustrophobia. I don't agree with blanket "use over the shoulder" because that means different things to different people. RE2 Remake is OTS but it's zoomed way in. Some people may preferred zoomed out which may no longer be considered OTS to some. That's why its important the chief design criteria to craft ways to trigger uncomfortableness in horror games and not be an arbitrary game play decision like "use OTS".

True - the previous two games that I mentioned were quite close, though, so I guess I was referring to that style/distance.

It really is! I can't wait. I don't even remember anything from this game its been over 18 years since i played it so it's going to be a whole new game lol

Armenius:thanks for the info! Glad to hear us pc users are getting a demo kinda weird there is a 30 min lock

It almost sounds like the full version of the game, just limited to 30 minutes playtime.

It says the RPD building is free to explore, but there is only one mission objective. The completion of which unlocks a trailer.

I just dled the game but waiting for when I Jane the time to play. What does everyone think so far who has played it?

Played last night but the 30 min limit was stupid. Will prob wait this one out.

Can I skip part 1 and play this one or will I miss out on anything?
You mean skip REHD? Yes, you can skip that one if you want. The story connections to the first game are not that big other than the fact that this one takes place 2 months afterward. In fact, I think the only entries in the main series I think you should play the previous games first are RE0 and RE3. The others can all stand on their own.

review embargo lifted earlier today and reviews are top notch...as a person who's never played the original I have a newb question...I know there are 2 playable characters and after you finish your first run you get to start a 2nd run as the other character with different enemies, characters and weapons...but after you finish your 2nd run you get another 2nd run as your initial character...is the 2nd run of your initial character going to be different in any way?...hope that makes sense

Where have you seen that it forces you to play the other character next?

I didn't say it 'forces you'...once you finish you get the option to play as the 2nd playable character...but I heard to get the best/true ending you need to play a 2nd run as the 2nd character...but my original question was does the 2nd run with your original character yield different characters, enemies, endings etc...meaning Leon A -> Claire B...Claire A -> Leon B...does Claire A/B or Leon A/B offer different story branches similar to what Leon A--> Claire B offers?

No, it is not like that this time around. Each character's playthrough is siloed in this version (no carryover).

so there are a total of 2 storylines?...not 4?
That is what I gathered from the pre-release information, but I've been reading some conflicting information about it in the reviews today. There may very well be 4.

yes that was what was confusing me...I read that once you complete both characters stories it automatically unlocks the 2nd side of your initial characters story...so if you started out as Leon A you then get Claire B as the 2nd run...or if you started as Claire A you then get Leon B...once you finish those 2 stories it automatically unlocks the 2nd side of your original character...here's a quote from a review...

"after this second play through you'll also unlock The Fourth Survivor mode and the 2nd Run scenario for your first character"

From what I've read in various articles posted on my Google feed, plus Youtube videos, there is Leon A, Leon B, Claire A, Claire B, The 4th Survivor, Tofu Survivor, The Ghost Survivor (randomized spawns/drops in this mode I think I read, with 3 selectable characters)

yup, but I hear that the 2 main A stories are where you get the differing playthroughs with new enemies, characters etc...with the B sides there is a much smaller variation...so you really only need to complete your main character and the 2nd characters main story to get the 'true' ending...did the original have 4 main stories as well?

The hype is REAL with this one fellas. I am super excited. 1998 12 year old me is super excited about Friday. Won't be able to sleep much.

Inb4 deep insights as to why the game sucks the big hairy one.

On topic -- I'm ready to go on Friday. I should be able to put some time aside early morning (before a long ass meeting). Many sleepless nights as a kid playing the original.

Capcom is slowly becoming the game company we all need in these trying times...

If Only Silent Hill 2 would get the same treatment.... oh wait... Konami.

Just because Capcom did us right on this game doesn't mean they're the company we need. Look at what they have done to Street Fighter V.

But in their defense, Resident Evil 7 was amazing as well... but yeah, on-player adverts are pretty slimy.

This is what happens when a developer takes its time on a project & doesn't push a game out too early just to rake in profits. How long was this in development? 4 Years at least. Well worth the wait.

It got good reviews, guess it's worth the $40 I'm wiling to pay for it on cdkeys ...already got my key and preloaded on steam. heuheuheueheuheuheuhuehuehue

Just want to let you and the rest of the folks here know that if you are a huge RE2 fan like myself... the Deluxe edition has the option to swap the music for the original music from the 1998 game. That's pretty cool.

I also want to point out all the awesome FREE DLC we will be getting for RE 2 Remake... Check this out...

It is so weird that Capcom is going against their norm with this game. No Mt and free DLC. I hope they back track on all th bs MT in DMC5.

I wonder if they are doing some sort of test to see what can produce more revenue. Releasing a game in CDPR fashion or treating their customers how EA does lol.
